How was Bush better than Obama / How is Obama better than Bush
DanG replied to wmw999's topic in Speakers Corner
Ease up yourself. I never said you believed it, I was just pointing out that shit like that is rampant. Many people more gullible than yourself would have just taken it as a fact and moved on. - Dan G -
How was Bush better than Obama / How is Obama better than Bush

What I meant was that many of the things attributed to Obama never really happened. You yourself recently posted an e-mail where Obama supposedly lowered the nation's flags for Whitney Houston, but not for a fallen General. It was quickly debunked, but crap like that is all over the internet. Specifically regarding race relations, I can't think of anything Obama himself has done or said that could be responsible for deteriorating race relations. Someone mentioned the "beer summit" (I think it was you) but that was clearly an attempt to calm race relations, not incite racial tension. The meme that Obama thinks anyone who opposes him is a racist has no basis in anything he's ever said. The blogosphere takes statements from Oprah and Samuel L. Jackson, and blows them way out of proportion. Even the recent comments by Eric Holder were misconstrued, misquoted, and used to fire up racial hatred not by the Administration, but by the right wing internet. If anyone has responsibility for worsening race relations, it is the right wing sites like brietbart and the Blaze, not Obama. - Dan G -

I think what he's actually done, and the perception of what he's done don't reflect the same reality. - Dan G -
Is this true about the Obama administration? Lefties debunk

Here's a hint: if it is too ridiculous to be true, it probably isn't. - Dan G -

Have corporate taxes actually increased under Obama? Was it just the sunsetting of the Bush tax cuts you are talking about? Either way, it doesn't seem like Obama's America has been that hard on corporations. For instance, this fact quoted by turtlespeed: I don't put that at the feet of either party. They are both to blame. Really? That's Obama's fault? What, exactly, has he done to degrade race relations? - Dan G -
ISIS this is what is really going on in the middle east

Olsen was first appointed to a government position by Bush. I doubt he's a hard core lefty. - Dan G -

Why bold and underline "Democrat"? And, are you sure he's a Democrat? - Dan G -
The right to bear arms is not granted by the second. The plain text makes it clear that the right exists on its own, and it shall not be infringed: "...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." - Dan G

That liberal media made us die bullshit has always made me mad. How about you do the right, and legal thing regardless of who's watching? - Dan G

Can you give us some examples of this phenomenon, or are you just parroting the denier talking points? - Dan G

The fact that you don't understand that ALL measuring devices have built in error, and ALL measuring techniques have built in error, belies that statement. - Dan G
-
Did you get that off wiki, or what? You're a lawyer. You're clearly very smart. I respect that. But I think we're talking past each other. You stated that the actual value was what was measured. That couldn't be more wrong. The actual value is the measured value plus some error. Many times you don't know what the error is, but sometimes there are robust methods of determining the error. Removing that error is not 'manipulating' the data. That is the point I am trying to underscore. I know there may be good reasons for outliers. That's not what I'sm talking about. I'm talking about correcting the data for know error. What boggles my mind is an obviously intelligent lawyer and a supposed Six Sigma Black Belt don't understand the difference between measured values and actual values. - Dan G

I'd be surprized if an MSA, or equivalent, hadn't been done on measurement systems used in climate science. Of course, if the results showed the ststems were sufficient, you'd find another way to dismiss the evidence. - Dan G
-
You just proved you've never done any observational science. If I unknowingly have a yardstick that's only 35 inches long, and I measure a true yardstick, is the true yardstick now really, truly, 37 inches? No, there is an instrumentation issue. If I later realize my yardstick was too short, correcting my previous measurements is not "manipulating" the data. - Dan G

It's been noted repeatedly, and then repeatedly debunked. - Dan G

Was that in aa link or something? I didn't see that in the OP's article. - Dan G

So, in short, there are as many silly assumptions in my scenario as there are in the OP's. I forgot to mention, in my scenario you are the Kents from Smallville, Kansas. Your son is Superman. Now what do you do, hotshot? Or are you a superhero-o-phobe? - Dan G

White House struggles with message on threat of ISIS
DanG replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
The recourse of the right wing partisan: anyone who doesn't hate everything Obama does must think he's the Messiah. The rest of us are capable of standing on the middle ground. But in another thread you admitted you have no idea what the policy should be. How can you know the current policy is bad? - Dan G -
I haven't seen that, except maybe from one or two posters. - Dan G

You don't know what a better policy would be, but you're sure Obama's is the wrong one? Sounds like ODS to me. - Dan G -
Then why throw in the "when seconds count the police are minutes away" angle? If this is what you really want to know, then the scenario is that you are in a remote cabin with your family with no hope for outside assistance. A crazed murderer enters the cabin, intent on killing you and your family. There is a loaded shotgun on the table. What do you do? - Dan G
-
No, no, no, Bill. You're supposed to be a liberal gun-o-phobe. The correct answer is that your neighbors have arms. Arms to hug the murderer. - Dan G
