Gracias. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

i'm sure you already know this, but sounds like textbook OCD... low dose SSRI's (luvox especially, but also paxil, prozac, zoloft) have done wonders for some w/ this often debilitating illness. I've got a form of it and w/o zoloft, sometimes I can't function at all. Not a big fan of drugs if they can be avoided. Are you aware of any non-medicinal methods that can be tried before resorting to meds? Lying to get a baby. Should the father be held responsible?
Richards replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
If she did not know then obviously she has acted in good faith, even if like him she was being irresponsible. I was specifically refferring to scenarios where someone been informed by their doctor that he/she has tested positive for the disease and then knowingly lies to a person he/she is about to have intercourse with about it. Yes he should think for himself but she should be charged if she has knowingly lied to about having the disease. Agree 100% Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within. -
OK I sort of get it. With respect to writing my local legislator though would it not be more usefull to strictly limit who can be included on it rather than limitting the restrictions placed on people who are on the list? I dont want to se a streaker get sex offender status nor do I see the point of labelling a 18 year old who has sex with a 17 year old as an offender. That said if we are going to let child molesters out on parole I have no problem placing strict restrictions on them (although I would be just as happy to lock them up for good, I imagine that we will be forced to let thm out sooner or later so why not have a short leash). Does that not qualify as a type of assault or endangerment? I am sure she could be charged for that (or at least I hope she would). Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within. -
Constantly checking and double checking that I have locked doors, turned off appliances, turned off faucets....etc. Drives my wife crazy but sometimes I can't help it. Actually some people find this quite hilarious and always jokingly speculate how many times I will check the door when I leave. What I don't understand about this is why the "sex offender" status has to apply to streakers as well as child molesters. Rather than get rid of the registry because streakers can be penalized by it can we not redeifine what qualifies a person as being a candidate for the list? I have not studied law so the answer may be very obvious to someone who does, but I cannot understand why we don't keep the registry but simply limit sex offender status to those who have committed sexual assaults, child molestation...etc? It could be a valuable registry if it was limmitted to those who actually present a risk. Can someone spell this out for me? Agreed. She would be a bitch for doing that but he owes the child both a father and provision of the opportunities he would give to a child he wanted. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within. -

That's not true. We can use them for medical experiments. That would be much more acceptable than using innocent animals. Richards My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I understand your concern however you can apply the slippery slope argument to any new development. By virtue of having laws we are already at risk of a slippery slope. I would have no problem denying pedophiles the right to vote (if we must allow them to live). It is hilarious to watch these losers squirm when confronted by the cameras, but I will bet that sooner or later some "criminal rights" type will argue that it is a violation of their "rights" to humiliate them on TV like that. Gosh Walt, I really like the way you think! It is truly a shame that you are not a supreme court judge!

Poor poor sex offenders. Whatever will we do if the consequences for sexual assault, child molestation ...etc actually discourage people from offending? I'll save my pity for those who actually merit my compassion. A girl I was dating (for a very short period of time)once shared a meatball with her dog. I broke up with her shortly thereafter. They drink from toilet bowls!!!! That was not my point at all, and I am not sure that you really believe I meant it that way. I simply distinguished between mischeif and thuggery. Yes trespassing for mischeivious purposes is wrong and you can be charged for it. I was simply saying there is a line drawn between that sort of behaviour and acting like a violent thug, and that the degree of force that I may tolerate someone using on someone who is threatening them on their property would not be acceptable to use on someone who has intended no harm and is leaving without presenting a threat. If you fear this new development then it must be due to some perceived wrong that the police intend to perpetuate using this new ruling. What alterior motive are you fearing the police have here; Not just more power...more power for what purpose? What insidious goal are they trying to attain with the use of the "no-knock rule". If I can see a specific evil that they will probably (not just possibly) use this for then I might be concerned but I am not going to panic every time the supreme court recognizes a shortcoming in a specific requirement and adjusts it in the interest of effective law enforcement. I have to agree with MasterRig in this one. There are too many laws giving the upper hand to criminals. Giving them 20 seconds allows too much time for them to flush evidence. With respect to the wrong house being targetted, I think if police kicked in my door with a SWAT team, I doubt a knock in advance would make me feel any better about it. If that happens allow the victims to take legal action after the fact if neccessary. If it is really a concern of abuse then would you accept the compromise suggested by GravityMaster whereby the police would have to demonstrate neccessity when requesting the judge turn their warrant into a no-knock warrant? Until I can see a real direct threat to the average citizen I think my default position will be to side with this ruling.
