Is the British Military Trained by the French?
Richards replied to Duckwater's topic in Speakers Corner
Did they do that much harm really by saying what they said? Did they compromise national security? It must have been scary as fuck in their situation. I have never been there so I can only offer an inexperienced viewpoint but isn't all this "name, rank and serial number" stuff, a wee bit hollywood. When you have no means of defending yourself and are captive at the mercy of people who's human rights record is deplorable, what purpose does it serve to give them an attitude. Why not be polite and avoid torture. It's not like they did any serious national harm. Should they have aggravated their captors at the risk of torture so those of us back here can feel a little more manly? Everytime I think of the crew I would pick and how we might go about it, the words "PRISON BITCH" slap me back to reality. Fuck that. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Saying as little as possible seemed the best course of action in my case. Some freinds of mine once pointed out that i did fine with the ladies right up until the moment i opened my mouth, and then it was all downhill from there. That is a big part of the problem. The gun-ban advocates should put their money where their mouth is and try to live in a bad area, and have to come home alone at night on a subway and then walking through an unlit area without bodygaurds to get a little perspective on the matter. The elite have never expected the rules to apply to them, just to us sheep who are supposed to be submissive. Hey Rosies on TV so she figures must know better than the rest of us. Whats this guys name? I would like to see what you posted (that site is great for laughs) I suspect you will do fine. Judging by prior posts I get the impression that you are perhaps a perfectionist and tend to see all the reasons why a top school will not want you as opposed to why they would. Incedentally what is it you are trying to get into? Cheers My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

When are we gonna start killing some muthafookin, stinkin Iranians!
Richards replied to skymanfoob's topic in Speakers Corner
Aaaaawwwww, damnit why does everyone keep saying that to me. I would have to try Bilbies before I could agree to that (and possum as a reference is no good because I have never tried it). I figure I could get the entire middle east to capitulate and convert if I could just get them to try bacon once. They would be hooked. No-one who has ever tried bacon could possibly feel that any loving god could be so cruel as to demand they not eat it. Awww fuck dang! Damn thats embarrassing. I haven't been to church since I was a little kid and I just fucked that one up. Maybe moses financed the whole boat operation and adam and eve were the union rep's for the construction team building the boat. I am pretty sure I got it right this time. I really do not wish to continue hearing ".......soldiers/marines were killed/wounded in a roadside bomb attack in....." everytime I flip on the news (nor for that matter do I care to hear about civilan casualties). Incedentally, the people in Iran have shown remarkable interest in reforms when it comes to separation of the church and state. The attitude is quite progressive amongst their youth. Not many other middle eastern countries where students will protest their leaders openly (at least not that I am aware of. correct me if I am wrong). Why? Have you seen some of the winners we let in? Even though we technically have standards, our family reunification system allows an immigrant to sponsor distant relatives who are then allowed to bypass any kind of skills/literacy/character/education testing or background check. Then each one of the sponsorees can sponsor numerous other relatives; therefore even with a family of criminal illiterates, if even one just barely meets our criteria, the others have a free pass in. And the last time we deported anyone some guy named Moses was building a big boat. I hope you are right but I doubt it. Isreal has always been able to use it's nuclear advantage to prevent a mass invasion and that will not change. That said, Israel was always able to launch massive conventional retaliatory strikes, against foe's and that risk did help keep some in check. If Iran has nukes it can step up it's support of Hamas and other Isreal hating groups while now Isreal has to be more carefull about how it responds. Causing Isreal to hesitate does force them to yeild some strategic advantage to their enemies, and may encourage greater misconduct on the part of it's neighbors. I was not suggesting that Iran was willing to go into armagedon. Just pointing out that they can use that leverage to make Isreal be more measured in it's response, which could likely encourage more attacks. Some tinpot can use it as an insurance policy against western intervention if he engages in local aggression. Some middle eastern tinpot can blatantly increase his support for Hamas or even initiate some direct intervention against Isreal knowing that he has at least hedged against being over-run if he loses. Eliminating the fear of a full fledged counter-invasion will give any local tinpot the balls to try excursions he might not have otherwise My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

That would be one concern. the other of course is the blackmail potential of tinpots who now have an ace up their sleeve. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I can appreciate that many Americans are not happy with the current administration and there is a desire to see a change in the way things are done, but would it really serve everyones best interests for every tin pot dictator to have that ability? If you do not like the curret administration, then give them a reality check at the next election. Parents' Guide to not Annoying the People Around You

That should be punishable by death. I go nuts when I am watching a movie but not hearing it because someones baby is screeching throughout. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within. -
Hey, glad to help. Regarding your fantasizing about drowning him, he is going to be curious as to why you have an ear to ear grin throughout his classes. Semesters almost over so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone has to deal with at least one of his kind during their academic career. Just move on when it is over and put the loser in your rear view mirror. One grade will not likely be the make or break of your ambitions (even though it may feel like it at the time). Be sure to let future students know to avoid him. Cheers My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

You sound stressed and your professor sounds like a nightmare. I found a little anecdote once that helps me at times like this. I have adapted it to your situation.... "Stressed? Sometimes it helps to think pleasant thoughts. Picture a feild, a pastoral feild, a feild with a babbling brook. You're there on a lovely fall day holding your professors head under the water...........now your letting him up to breath for a second...then BLAM!! back into the icy water. Again, and again! There, feel better?" My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Gracias. I suspect that my right wing views on the criminal justice system may taint people's views on me but I do try to judge each issue seperately. On economic issues I am somewhat middle, with social issues I am to the left, and so on. Anyway, Cheers. I was under the impression that his existence and crucifiction was a historical fact. I beleive the dabate really centered around whether or not he was who he claimed to be. I don't know? Ask the wing. I'm a righty? My left/right positioning tends to depend on the issue, not a simplistic allegiance to a specific wing. I would have? What have I said that would indicate that? Did I say something to set you off? I interjected a question on this thread pertaining to pleading the fifth which would imply that I was not impressed with her doing that and now you feel that I am defending her actions? Unless I somehow aggravated you on a prior thread and this is a follow up I cannot see why my question bothered you so much. Maybe it's my natural charm. Hide battery powered travel alarm clocks (the wallet sized ones) at different locations around his/her room, each set one hour apart. Locations to hide them....first one taped to the underside of the bed, next one taped to the back of the dresser, one insight a lightshade, one in the floor vent...etc. Gets up at one AM to scramble around and find that irritating fucking alarm and finds it taped under the bed. two o-clock...starts all over. Sounds a bit concerning. I guess I always presumed that even if that did happen, it was usually to some guy who was always in shit with the law anyway (not saying that is right). I never expected that it would happen to someone who is clean and honest all the time (presumably because there would be major public attention if that was happenning) but again it was just speculation on my part. If you are saying that clean honest citizens who have never broken a law in their life and aren't already known to the police have this happenning with some degree of regularity then I will take your word on it and be more cautious in the future Thanks My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I never understood that. I guess I always subscribed to the idea that if you had nothing to hide then why not speak. Sorry to re-ask the question, but can you elaborate on a scenario where an inocent person speaking on the stand could incriminate themselves? Please use simple laymens terms if possible. I was brought in for questioning once (on some minor incedent) and was offered the "right to be silent and have legal counsell" stuff. Since I had done nothing wrong I went ahead and spoke to the cops and then I was let go. Buddy of mine gave me heck and said that I should never waive that right. I figured if i had nothing to hide what was the problem? Was it really that big of a deal for me to just answer their questions?
