Lookin Texas where we had the last Gathering... Have contacted Skydive Dallas, Skydive Houston and Spaceland in Houston.. Spaceland in Houston is the one with the Swoop Contest for that weekend.. On another note... If you would be planning on being here for the event, if a small registration fee would be problem or stepping stone. Just something to help fund the CASA and the other activities..?? Also it would be a way for me and my event orginisers to have a feel for who is going to be coming and what we need... Ok, I know since Nov all you skymonkeys out there that missed the "Gathering" last year have been wondering when Slappie is going to do it again.... Well,, {drum roll} I'm working with some different dropzones and have come to a tenitive date!! LABOR DAY WEEKEND! If you have a problem with this or think another weekend would be better please drop me a line. I REALLY Want everyone who can make it to try and plan a small weekend for us Dropzone.commers to get together, jump our asses off and drink great quantities of adult beverages!! One of the DZ's I'm working with is having a "Swoop contest" that weekend. So you swoopers... SkymonkeyOne!! Think about coming!! Another one I am in contact with hasn't made plans for that weekend yet.. I'm thinking LAbor day weekend because most of the 4-way leagues will be done with the season so it frees up you belly competitors and the Freefly junkies we can jump whenever and where we are because I haven't seen nor heard of a "league" for us as of yet?? Hmmm another idea is born! Anyways I want this years "Gathering" To be 110% Better then last year! We have 20'something people last year. This year there is talk of a CASA and maybe even a Heli for the combined weekend of jumping and swooping! So whoooooooo knows! Gimme some ideas, I don't want to compete with the bigger boogies like summerfest, quincy, ect... so please we don't want to try and "combine" our Dropzone.com "Gathering" into one of these events... I have no problems with your "list" of rules.. except the one where a list of jumpers must be posted before hand. I think that is way to hard to achieve. The orginal record set at Spaceland on Sunday Nov 12th was supposed to be done on Sat the 11th. due to time and jump-runs time ran out on us so we moved it to the next day. 60% of the jumpers on the attempt had less then 100 jumps!! This whole "Record" thing was setup so lowbies and highbies could jump together and both learn from each other. I agree as the jumps get larger and more intense then yes slots need to be held and serious attention to safety. Nothing could be worse then to lose one of us over a stupid bragging rights jump! Also as for camera man, on the Texas jump we made sure we had a dz.com cameraman also. Wanted EVERYONE on the jump excpet maybe the pilot a dz.com registeres user. The amount of time a person has spent on dz.com shouldn't matter excpet the fact of "running to a dz computer an signing up" we had a couple on our record who for some reason or another just lurk the page. Because you do not post shouldn't keep you off the jump. We attemped a 12-way jump.. 8 got in.. It would have been bigger if I wasn't such a Nazi about the registered user stip! I left some out of the jump because I wasn't able to confirm they were actually registeres users of dz.com. All in all I think it's a great idea that You guys are going to try for the record ! Go For IT!! I hope you get it... You won't keep it long... LEt's keep this fun for everyone lowtimers and hightimers all alike, Please!! I've only got 40 jumps and stayed off the Texas Attempt because I didn't want to screw it up. Now I'm upset because I didn't go.... Next time I'll be there!! He's on the invitational Texas record team for the 120'somethin way at Skydive SPaceland this year.. I'm sure he can find some big-way peeps to either jumps with us or orginise the jump... You Cali's need to wake up an realise the record is in Texas and WILL Stay in TEXAS! When it comes to the State of Texas you have no idea what pride we have in this State.... So you keep thinking your going to get the record... Maybe we'll just bump it so high that by the time you gather your troops you won't be able to reach it.. SkyDekker, I've seen you in the room a few times. I think the time you might have been trying to connect the network was down. We take the network down sometimes for upgrades and such. It was up lastnight. We had a nice group of people for the first hour or two then everyone found other things to do but it's a beggining again!!
