  1. How we would have benefitted if Dick Feynman, Alan Turing, and John von Neumann had been drafted and set to the front in WWII. How did we benefit by sending Henry Moseley to the front with a rifle in his hand in WWI? Henry Moseley enlisted.
  2. By criminal I assume you're talking about our current president. If so, you're wrong. I voted for him. I think most people who did, will readily admit it. According to the L.A. Times/Bloomberg poll (12/8-11/06), 42% approve of his overall performance. Kinda gives the impression a fair number of people still like him. I've read many more recent polls suggesting he's in teh high 20's to low 30's. Again, there aren't a lot of people bragging about voting for him, they may not deny, but they don;t wear it like a badge as compared to teh number of people who voted for him. LOL You say you can't find a person who will admit they voted for Bush Then you say he's not as popular as in the past. Not quit the same, dont you think? I love to see those "many more recent polls suggesting he's in the high 20s". According to this sitehttp://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm, Bush has never had job approval numbers in the 20s.
  3. You really need to get over yourself. When you're in a hole, misdirection doesn't help. Your comments are out there for the whole world to see. No hole here, sport. Sorry you seemed to have gotten your panties in such a wad over this.
  4. What are you trying to say? That Selma Heyak's breasts are not divine?
  5. Wow. She clearly needs to cut bait. Family comes first. Sorry about not answering your question.
  6. Didn't come across that way. This is the internet, not a face to face conversation - if you want to be understood you'll need to be more careful what you write. Point taken. On a tangential point, people should respond to what others actually write and make an effort to grasp the context.
  7. I stand corrected. Thanks for posting additional information.
  8. There is so much about this case that is completely fucked up. I can't believe it's still around. I mean how can Nifong still be charging one guy, who has surveillance tape to prove he wasn't there? Hopefull, when it's all said and done, the three lacrosse players will successfully sue Mike Nifong and the NC Bar will take away his license.
  9. It was a response to Start an argument? I asked about several about several specific points. The "or are you just trolling?" was intended to be lighthearted. Here we are, a day and a half later, with most of my politely asked questions, still unaddressed. Happy Holidays.
  10. When you have a criminal record for drunk driving.. I guess you could cal him that....and then there is always the reason he did not show up for his flight physical while he was "serving" in the USAF Reserves..... I remember the golden flow tests that were part of flight physicals at the time.( I was on flight status and jump status when I was active duty) Cocaine would have been sure to show up on party boys tests. Well hell. If we're gonna include misdemeanors, why don't we throw minor infractions into the mix. Then we can say 99% of adult US citizens are criminals.
  11. True, but making statements like "Jesus was not actually born at this time of year. The educated ones know this, and the ignorant ones are, well, ignorant. We shouldn't let our lives revolve around ignorance, should we?" are pretty inflamatory. Is this a fact? I agree and I don't know anyone (particularly in this forum) who challenges this. I didn't. You should check your facts before making such accusations. In this thread I've asked you politely for information. You (basically) dismissed my requests with snide replies. Admittedly, I've done my part to lower the level of discourse. Still, if this is something you actively celebrate, I wonder why you passed up the opportunity to educate an interested skeptic, instead choosing to take the low road.

  13. You really should try to distinguish between what people say and what you read into it.
  14. Maybe she and Star Jones can team up. Their show can focus around the importance of modesty and grace. Rosie is a time bomb. A few weeks ago, she made a huge deal about a slight by Kelly Rippa. She really created a tempest in a teacup, that forced Kelly to do a bunch of unnecessary grovelling. Then, about a week ago, she made a huge deal about how filthy stinking rich Barbara Walters was. When Barbara hinted that she should drop it, Rosie gave her an "Oh please! What's the big deal?" and continued on. According to my morning commute radio personalities, who provided me with such important stuff, Barbara was visibly pissed. It's like Rosie feels completely entitled to insert herself in other people's business and (big "and" here) she thinks people who take exception are just being oversensitive. It's like she was the fat ugly girl in high school who got picked on... and now, despite her fame, success and wealth, she's still that person, with a big ol' chip on her shoulder.
  15. I not sure what you're talking about. I've never questioned the history. You said most people were unaware of it "It" being the decorating trees, burning Yule logs, giving presents, having parties to celebrate the Winter Solstice,.... not knowledge of the solstice itself. What have I said in this thread that gives you that impression? You called him a troll for saying that he celebrates the solstice I asked about the celebratory practices (mentioned above) and then asked if he was trolling. His response, which did not address my polite queries, gave me the distinct he was trolling. Please note that I did not call him a troll for "saying that he celebrates the solstice". I don't. Your post history argues otherwise You really should try to distinguish between what people say and what you read into it.
  16. Thanks for the link and the civil reply. The article didn't say much about modern celebrations. I did find a site that said: http://www.openhearth.org/basics/demographics.shtml I'm guessing the overwhelming majority of solstice "celebrations" in the US are merely the noting of this astronomical event. Happy Solstice, everyone.
  17. I find it hard to consider the murder of 3000 innocent civilians, during peacetime, all killed within a two hour period, in a highly visible and horrific manner is insignificant by any comparison. BTW What deathtoll are you using? The US military? The Iraq Death Toll website? Or that ridiculously study from the Lancet, that hardly anybody considers legitimate?
  18. I'm guessing Miss USA offered The Donald some concessions for letting her keep her crown. From what little I've heard, it seems like she should have gotten the boot. Moving right along, Rosie seems to be regularly showing herself to be a loudmouthed asshat.
  19. So, you're saying that those killings were statistically significant?
  20. Is that how you rationalize it away, as a rounding error? That's cold. Does "I think any soldiers guilty of misconduct should be fully prosecuted!!! " sound like rationalizing?
  21. Nah, Saddam just had a smaller population to work with.
  22. In the greater scheme of things, the killings in Haditha are statistically insignificant. That said, I think any soldiers guilty of misconduct should be fully prosecuted!!!
