  1. If you're the student who landed right after me in the morning, you did one excellent damn job! Come up this weekend and hang out at the Muff Brothers Boogie.... Welcome!
  2. My daddy taught me... If you're ever in a situation that you know that you cannot possibly win, there's only one thing that you can do. Get mean! Although, in today's world, it's better to take a beating and move on. Jail sex just isn't that appealing to most. Civil law suits can cancel a lot of jump tickets too...

    New Work Boots

I've had red wings, and a variety of other boots. The wolverines were great boots, until I found Rockys. I paid $140.00 for a pair at a western store and walked over five miles the first day without getting one blister. I'll never buy anything else if I can help it. In the service, we use to wear our new boots in the shower, or swim with them on. It's hell on your feet for a couple of days, and they fit perfectly.

  5. We have met the enemy, and the enemy is US. I'm 42 years old. When I was a child there was only a few channels on TV, the internet and computers were freaky things that you saw on Buck Rogers shows, and the closest I got to video games was playing pinball and watching the score numbers roll over. My social environment consisted of the few friends that I hung out with, my parents, and my teachers. My world was small and controllable. The information that expanded my horizons came from these finite sources, and what ever books and magazines I could get my hands on. Switch to today's world... My son's social environment encompasses the entire globe. One click on the internet and you know how to build a bomb, another click and you're linked to a million people who will be your "friend". The most popular music preaches death and destruction. The most popular video games the same. The brainwashing by advertisement to wear specific types of exspensive clothing, and so on. Why, because we want to give our children the things we never had. We are just as interested in the things above as our children, because we never had them. How much of your child's learning comes directly from your home, as opposed to their social world? My father was an incredible source of information for me. I naturally looked to him for answers, and respected him. He whipped me when I was bad, and let me know when I did right. The whipping wasn't as much about pain, as it was the knowing that I disappointed him. It's too easy to step back and let our children be raised with very little input. Sure, we all let them know if they do something that we don't like, but are we on the job 24/7 ? Do we maintain a consistant environment even when we don't feel like it? I would submit a big "NO" on that one. We have become a very small part of our childrens lives. Don't let the world raise our children and then complain about the world....
  6. I worked on an ocean going tug and we would make our own monkey fists, and I'd usually make mine around a small galvanized pipe fitting to give it a little more weight. We'd also use different size "fids" to weave the mooring lines back into each other. I have a hard enough time packing as it is without worrying about whether I screwed up a closing loop. I'll leave that to the experts...for now. I would like to learn though!

    Honesty

If someone asks, tell it the way it is. If you know something and they haven't asked, really examine your motive for sharing the information. If it's out of love, or because you care for someone, do it. Anything else, keep your mouth shut...
  8. Watch for a little dark line leaving the red area and heading up your leg...
  9. I went to Catholic school my first eight grades and remember seeing Sister Mary Vivian smacking this kid on the hand with a ruler when he would write left handed. Some of the most brilliant or artistic people that I know are left handed. When ever i meet someone in business who I consider to be "above average", I always check out which hand they write with. A large percentage of the time, they're lefties. I'm a righty. I think we should go back to smacking them with rulers!
  10. In my opinion... This country is ready for a change. The last couple of elections and our ever changing world has left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths. I predict that you'll see women running on both sides, for the Vice Presidency. Hillary makes me sick to my stomach, but she is intelligent. Think LONG TERM goal. If they produce the right woman for office, I'd vote for her in a flat minute. Although, I'd vote against Hillary, even if her opponet was a dye in the wool liberal (I can't believe that I said that). It's time that we realize that women are the superior sex anyway. Let's all us guys take a break and go have some beers...
  11. I find it fascinating, and humbling at the same time. There are some very intelligent people who post here, and some very intelligent angry people too. Posting on this form is almost akin to being in a live firefight. You never know where the next round will hit, or if you'll make it out alive. There is a very specific adrenaline flow involved when debating with those who skydive, as well as jumping with them. No wonder I love this sport!
  12. QuoteTrue. I've been saying all along that religion (of any sort, really) is an impediment and NEVER an expediter of peaceful coexistence of the world's people. Look not between different religions; look simply at islam for a good example. These are people supposedly of the same religion, and even there they are fragmented so badly along tribal-type lines that the murder each other, and have for generations. All because of religious disagreements and differences, and within ONE religion, not between different ones! Religion is major problem. Humans cannot handle it without it becoming a source of strife. My personal feeling is that it should be abandoned, and we should dedicate all of our efforts toward uniting the people of the world toward making life better here. We have to admit there is a lot of work to do. We're wasting an awful lot of time and energy. _________________________________________________ Are you kidding me? Your statement wanting to "abandon" religion is no better than different religious factions killing each other. The forcing of your beliefs on others will not solve the problem. As Americans who preach freedom, we need to tread carefully. If we really look at what has transpired over the last couple of centuries, we'd discover that the majority of all involvement with foreign entities has little to do with "helping". On the surface we are a giving country who wants to make the world a better place, but in reality, most every move is self-serving. Is this a bad thing? No. It's called survival. America is a giant machine that needs to be fed so you and I can enjoy our freedoms. We will do what ever is necessary to keep this machine rolling. If we need oil, we're going to find a way to take it. Food, look out we're coming through. Security, threaten our supply lines, or our decadent way of life, and we'll step on you. This is America. This is who we are. We let ourselves be illusioned into believing that our moves are for the betterment of the world. The moves we make, the people we kill, and the people we put into government are so you and I can enjoy that Sunday BBQ, or jump out of that plane. These things offend our sensibilities, so we blame everything on those who keep the machine rolling. I love my country, and it's the American people who make America what it is. If we take issue with what we've become, it's up to us to change it. Before any of you American "bashers" jump on what I've said, perhaps you better take a long look at your own countries and their motivations too. Democracy should never be forced, unless it keeps the line moving at McDonalds.
  13. _________________________________________________ Now you're talking! Here's a few for you. 1.) Set wrist alarm exactly 24 times every night. 2.) When in video store, act like you're looking at movies that are turned the wrong way so you can put them back straight. 3.) Hang towels and wash clothes with the little tag to the back left. I know SOMEONE like this! no names mentioned.
  14. *** It depends...what do you have?! _________________________________________________ The word "drug" in my definition is anything that we use to alter reality, or desire to such a degree that we think about it constantly when we don't have it. Some people are voracious readers, can't live without a book, some sex, some the colorful variety that you can find in a little bottle. Most everyone has something.... Adrenaline is my drug of choice, and probably the most addictive that I've ever come across. The absolute worse drug I've ever seen, and I grew up in the era, is alcohol. I've seen it destroy more people than I care to think about.
  15. We all went back to my place Saturday night after attending the new building dedication and I watched my cousin blow chunks after guzzling half a bottle of tequila to get the worm. It almost turned me into a non-drinker. Hey, you guys that don't drink. What kind of drugs do you do?
  16. The first time I met John, he shook my hand and invited me to do a two-way. There's few people that you meet in life that make you instantly feel welcome...John was one of these people. We'll miss you John and won't forget you.
  17. NEVER stop believing! Read the book of "Job". God let the devil put some heavy hurt on him, and he never quit believing. Most people have a hard time pinning down when they started to believe, and most will tell you that they have for as long as they can remember. I believe that we are in a time of polarization. I feel the doubt at times myself, but you can't give in. For the athesist...My words are based on faith. A faith that has always come through for me in the end. You can smack me with the science books, and tell me that I have "invisible friends", but it won't change the fact that I know there is a God.
  18. I went through AFF and have made every one of my jumps at Z-Hills. I have yet to meet anyone who wasn't friendly and willing to take the time to teach me. Even if that teaching is in the spirit of telling me to pull my head out of my ass. The culture and passion I see have done as much to keep me skydiving as the skydiving itself. I've never met a group of people that were as "real". I take pride in, and feel fortunate to be able to call them my friends. I plan to jump at other DZ's soon, and will carry the same spirit with me where ever I go.
  19. People have bastardized the concept of "living, breathing" to the point where they can claim up means down just because "we're living in different times." It's bullshit. The Constitution lives and breathes because it remains open to being amended -- through proper due process, not by whimsy. __________________________________________________ Amendment II A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. I agree that whimsy is bullshit, and I agree with your point. What "spirit" do you think the above words were written in? Why did our FF believe it necessary to allow the population to be armed? How is it different today, as opposed to their time, and why do the people that scream the loudest about too much government not understand this? The words" security of a FREE state" mean a lot to me.
  20. When and where? Here and now? How about other times and other cultures, Michael. Adult heterosexual, consensual, monogamous sex is not the norm. It is what we've been socialized to in our culture, in our time. ________________________________________________ You just banged the proverbial nail right on the head. Humans are animals. Sure, some of us are "higher" life forms, but still animals. The urge to procreate doesn't go away with a ring on the finger. The urge to improve our species is as strong as it ever was....well, it changed a little after the invention of beer!
  21. Dude! Tell my wife that! It just might work! _____________________________________________ If I give a lecture on it...can I be a professor too? It's interesting the way everyone and anyone can produce experts for both sides in any argument. I've read a lot of threads in SC. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that everything is false and I probably don't even really exist. I do know one thing though...The bastards will never get my guns! (my redneck heritage showing).
  22. Wow! You guys need to get layed more often!
  23. Landing in the sewage processing plant at Z-Hills on a windy day.
  24. Maybe it's because they know the women adore you for reasons a little more elusive than sex. ________________________________________________ Dammit! I knew there was a secret we weren't being told about! In all seriousness, having a friend of the opposite sex and knowing that the "mating" factors are removed is pretty cool. One of my best friends is gay and there's a level of comfort when I'm with her that I find priceless.
  25. TK- I understand your point of less guns, therefore less gun related deaths, but in my opinion the entire gun debate is a very thin, very manufactured veneer covering the essence of violent crime in America. I'm 42 years old. I was raised with guns in the house, guns in the car, and everyone I knew had guns. We played cowboys and indians, good guys and bad guys, and childish war games. We never thought of using real guns, real guns were just another tool. As a lot of kids do, we had fights, we had gangs, and we had contempt for those that were different than we were. What we didn't have was a thought or desire to get the family gun and shoot each other, or "pop a cap" in their asses. My son is 21 years old. He grew up with violent video games, violent movies, violent bands, and an increasingly liberal population voicing their disapproval of violence and everything that can be called a "tool" of that violence. Oh but wait! We can't question any of these things because there is a little thing called "freedom of speech". When the fuck is everyone going to wake up and realize that our youth are being brainwashed to do the very things that we fear, and they're being brainwashed (raised) right in front of us, with our approval. The really sad part is that we LIKE it. The violence and in your face freedoms turn us on just as much as it does our children. We'd probably see crime rates drop quicker if they confiscated our TV sets...
