Come on over to the Speakers Corner. The people there are very nice.

You KNOW I'll be there! I'm thinking of taking an extra couple of days off too! See you in the sky!

Increase my wing loading. 7. Get an AAD 8. Make a HALO jump. 9. Average at least one new person a month for a tandem. 10.Make some good friends.

It is the key... If gay friends of mine invited me and my wife to their wedding, and they didnt want us holding hands or kissing during their party, we wouldnt go, and wouldnt think of them as friends. It is their party, so they can mingle with similarly closed minded people if they want to. I really disagree with this. I have friends who are gay, that are both male and female. If my relatives are going to be at an event, I ask them to be cool. They never take offense because they know that my family is about as red as you can get. They refrain out of consideration for me, even though many in my family know that they are gay. In fact, they may do something hilarious when no one but me is looking to get a laugh. If this is being anti-gay, then I guess that I'm anti-gay too...

I started telling them that it's a secret, only those who jump know the secret, and unless you jump, you'll never know. I'm bound by an oath never to share that which has to be earned, and has been earned by so few. And then I walk away...

Interesting way to judge a landing I don't know what you classify as night blindness, but I couldn't see anything but pin-pricks of light. My advise to anyone doing a night jump is to know the DZ, and surrounding areas, really pay attention during your day jumps to landmarks like ball fields, and towers, and have someone point out reference points to you on the way to altitude. Even after doing all of these things, I went through a few seconds of being disoriented.

I agree; that may happen if we foolishly tamper with such things. Of course, by the same token, if we don't research such things because bigots might use the information for base purposes, we might also overlook that cure for cancer. Best to ignore said bigots entirely (IMO.) I really thought about this... If it wasn't for our curiousity and inventive nature, we'd still be applying leeches and throwing buckets of human waste out the back window. The thought of scientific advancements being used in the wrong way has always been a limiter, and a fear to many. You are right. We shouldn't limit research because of what bigots may do. As long as they never become the "majority", we may yet advance as a species...

My first thought after reading what you have written, is that you are correct. If an accurate survey were taken by every male and female on the planet, resulting in the count of who has had sex with the opposite gender only, and who has had sex with the same gender only, and who has had sex with both, it would show that the majority are heterosexual. If the same survey were taken in regard to who has fantasized about, or desired sex with the same gender, we'd probably find that Rhonda is 100% correct. Do our thoughts, or our actions make us who we are? I submit that it's a combination of both. A question: If a man goes through his younger years, and then into adulthood always strongly desiring the same sex, but because of environment, marries a woman, and never acts on his desires, is he gay, or straight?

I didn't think about people trying to have Schwarzenegger babies just out of the womb... Didn't Adolph Hitler take a stab at this? I find it interesting that most claim to be forward thinking when it comes to homosexuality, but most also debate the nurture vs nature element. Why should we care if someone's sexual orientation is learned, or inherited, unless we believe it to be wrong? Homosexuality, a thing that needs to be examined and possibly fixed, if a cure can be formulated? If gay is a disease, let's cure it, right? Why not just leave people the hell alone, let them develop into who they will "be", even if it is the luck of the draw? If we tamper with certain "traits", we may just tamper out the very thing that's needed for someone to sit back one day and say, "hey, I figured out how to cure cancer"! Edited to add: I wonder if bisexuality can be attributed to the same, but not as severe of a disorder?

Did my first night jump last night at Z-Hills... It was awesome! Jumping out into the pitch blackness is an entirely new experience. There were six of us that had never jumped before. We made a pass over the DZ at 6000' with Sebastian showing us the reference points to recognize the landing area. Another pass at 6000' and the six "first timers" got out. I went last and pulled about 5 seconds out the door. I wanted to have as much time as possible to check out the terrain while under canopy. No problems getting back. When I came in to land, it was seriously dark, but I could make out the ground from about 20' up. Flared just a tad high, but nothing even noticable. Next jump to altitude for a 2 way!

I'm still very very new at this awesome sport. I brought my best friend out to do a tandem, and then a second. After her second jump, she said "Robert, do you think that we are supposed to know this feeling"? It really hit me how special the place is that you go. The feeling is almost impossible to describe to someone who has never done it...

This one still makes me shudder. I got home early one day, and was in about to use the bathroom and noticed that there was one square of toilet paper left. I stood up shuffled with my pants around my ankles out into the hall to get another roll of paper out of the closet. Started back, and as I passed the laundry room door my neighbor opened it and stepped in, right in front of me. It startled me, my pants caught when I tried to turn and I fell on the ground. She started howling with laughter and didn't move one inch. Apparently she called my girlfriend and got permission to come over and borrow something that I don't remember.

Not necessarily so. How often do you see bull meat for sale in the grocery store? Blues, Dave Actually there is quite a bit of male cow meat on the market, but they call them "steers". It means they had their balls removed by placing a small rubber band at the top of the sack until they fall off. Keeps the meat tender. The orientals would probably be the most tasty. More vegetables in the diet... Edited to add: I'd never eat anything that has balls. Simple rules are the easiest to follow.

Traveling with your rig & security.

That's certainly gives me the warm and fuzzies! I wonder if they'd say anything if I wore my helmet too... -
Traveling with your rig & security.

I believe my good looks & world class demeanor played a major roll in the ease in which I was able to clear the TSA screeners. ________________________________________________ I may be in trouble. I look like a psycho mercenary... Thanks for the info! -
Traveling with your rig & security.
ROK replied to joewantaharley's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Was your rig in another bag, or out where everyone could see what it was? It sounds like some use gear bags, and some don't. Is this an incorrect observation? Not being in another bag, I would worry about the reserve handle being accidently pulled. -
No sympathy. Rot in prison.

They've started to put up 2'x4' signs in my neck of the woods listing that the individual is a sex offender, what they did, their name, and a big colored picture. They put the signs on the easements right in front of where the sex offender lives, and they cannot remove them. Can you say..get the hell out!

There's a pretty steep hill on a country road by my house. On a beautiful day I'll hit the hill doing about seventy on my Harley, stick my arms in the air, arch, and stare at the clouds and sky. The feeling is amazing and probably about 100 times more dangerous than jumping out of the plane... The last time I did this, a guy coming the other direction blew his horn and I about crapped my pants. I forgot one... I flew back from a busniness trip and I stopped, stuck my head out the door when we landed and looked straight down at the loading ramp before stepping out.

You're right... It's much easier to tell if you've got your face buried in the pages... I use to date a chick who would cry every time she had an orgasm. It really freaked me out. Another would grab handfuls of skin and make ME scream!

I'm a firm believer that you can tell if someone fakes it or not. If you can't tell, you're not really paying attention...

I'm printing this out to give to my wife! I really get sick of being led around on a leash. I don't mind doing the "couple thing", but there has to be a line somewhere...

Should Illegal Immigrants receive safe harbor in US cities?
ROK replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
The thought of banks providing loans to illegals makes me ask a few questions. 1. Who pays when they default? 2. Why would a bank who put me under a microscope, even with excellent credit, lend money to a high risk group (migratory) with little or no credit history? 3. Who pays when they default? 4. If employeers are using the tax identification numbers, and providing tax matches, workmen's comp, and social security charges, why would it hurt them if illegal immigration was stopped?? 5. Who pays when they default? I don't see large banks handing out the cash unless they are protected, and know that they are going to make a large amount of money in the deal. -
Should Illegal Immigrants receive safe harbor in US cities?
ROK replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
They also send billions of U.S. Dollars to Old Mexico and a lot of that money is used to get the rest of their families over here. ------------------------------------------------------------ This is a problem that we need to stop. In my opinion, it adds insult to injury. Not only do we have to foot the bill in so many ways for illegals, we also have large volume dollars removed from our economy. There is a correct way, and a wrong way to become a citizen. If you break the law, you're a criminal, and should be treated like a criminal. The mindset of Americans not wanting the fruit pickers jobs is incorrect. I've seen "locals" turned away. I would suggest really looking at the economics before stating that our economy would collapse without them too. -
Yeah, but it's worth it! We all complain when we've got em, and look for em when we don't.
