  1. Colin Powell said we would go after whoever was responsible for September 1tth with "Unproportional retribution". Except we didn't, because Cheney and Rumsfeld had the brilliant idea of nation building in Iraq. So President Obama makes the call to finally rid the world of Bin Laden and now all of the Republicans put the spin on it. Pathetic and insulting to the 9/11 victim's families. Your pals GWB, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice should all be rotting in Guantanimo Bay with the other traitors.
  2. I notice how none of the people who voted "fire him" have the courage to come forth and explain their position... Doesn't surprise me. Hahahahaha, sez the dude with no profile info
  3. And the boxes didn't have advertising all over them, just a guy with a wingsuit and a dream. Awesome.
  4. Google Thomas J Steiner, CHP. One example of thousands of innocent Americans that are affected by gang violence. And "targeted".
  5. Yes, gang violence has a tremendous impact on communities and schools large and small, in urban areas and small towns.
  6. It's not first if it's not on youtube That tower was probably popped during construction, like the Stratosphere in Vegas and lots of other cool objects.
  7. You need to get out more...
  8. "Who is Jeb Corliss or Felix Baumgartner, for $100 Alex"
  9. Hopefully his union will get him his job back.
  10. Gangs in America have been our biggest threat to national security for a very long time. iMHO Asian, Skinhead, Mexican, Black, Central American, etc. Are all threats, and terrorists of all religions. Obama has deported more folks than anyone lately. Now it's time to get tougher on the gangbangers.
  11. Not from last year, since it is boarded up and falling down
  12. Tough to train diving after an out of control student from 13,000ft in a 25' wind tunnel. No.
  13. Well, it's not like they would have a union worker represent them.
  14. Do about 10 or 15 coach jumps, then do some tunnel time. It will save you time, money and bad habits. And relax, we all sucked at under 100 jumps, except for the madskillz dudes, but they're all jumping wingsuit off of cliffs now.
  15. Fifth Ave. Underpass, corner of walk and don't walk.
  16. http://articles.latimes.com/1998/mar/18/business/fi-30016 Here is a deal that went bad to the tune of nearly $7 million for the county. Trying to go into business is not a strong suit of politicians. One of the BIGGEST financial boondoggles ever in America is turning out to be the El Toro "Great Park" in Irvine, CA. When the El Toro MCAS was closed, it was supposed to be turned into a major airport. The NIMBY crowd hired consultants to stop it. The county hired consultants to start it. The LAWYERS all made milions of $$$. Now it sits under Irvine's control. It will cost billions of dollars to ever get anything done on the site. $240 million slated for the park is gone, vanished. All taxpayer moneys. In the meantime, Irvine's school district has been struggling for money. Google around and read the El Toro story. It will become the biggest local taxpayer boondoggle in history. So the next time someone says the city employees are breaking a cities budget, really look into the facts.
  17. One of the main reasons many cities, counties and states are broke is due to their "investments" in business deals such as stadiums, parking garages, convention centers and more. Here is a prime example; I worked for the Ontario, California FD for 26 years. The city built a convention center close to the airport and hotels. It was a small center that has not atttracted the events that were promised. The center loses $2.5 million per year. The city then built an "events Center", no where near the convention center. It is a 10,000 seat arena with luxury seating. It was supposed to be a $66 million building. When it was completed it ended up costing $136 million! The city then gave the management to AEG. The city is guaranteed $1 million per year return. Now the only tenant is the Ontario Reign, ECHL hockey team. Both of these projects were shopped to private investors and companies, including AEG. No one bit, because the return just isn't there. But the egos on city council love having their names on the side of the buildings, no matter what it costs the taxpayers. Now the city is looking at purchasing Ontario International Airport back from the City of Los Angeles. The city sold it to LAWA in the early 70's for next to nothing. This will take about $150 million. City leaders rarely make prudent business decisions. The city of San Diego wants to ad a $550 million dollar addition to the convention center. Taxpayers will take it in the shorts for this deal. A city has THREE main jobs. Pick up the trash, keep the bad guys in jail and keep the fires put out. Investing in projects shouldn't be one of them. HOWEVER, cities, and other jurisdictions, SHOULD work to lure and keep businesses in their areas, using all legal means available, such as land, tax breaks, etc. The City of Sharon, PA, built a parking garage in 1974. They were told that even if it was full 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, it wouldn't pay for itself. It was built and now sits mostly empty, as it has ever since it was finished. The city floated municipal bonds to pay for it. They pay $880,000 per year still, until 2016 to pay it off!!! Do cities need sports teams? Sure. But at what costs and benefit? Government officials are horrendous at doing the dollars and cents math on projects. Just my 2 cents worth...
  18. + 1,000 Sometimes jumpers forget why we jump, because it is fun. Land safely with a smile=huge success.
  19. Shanahan will be busy in the morning. Suspensions?
  20. You just know that the NHL is begging for a Rangers/Kings finals for TV ratings. Quick looked like he was overplaying the angles in the first two periods. I think it will be difficult for the Yotes to win the series against the Kings relentlessly effective forecheck style. They don't have the talent to carry it up ice on a steady basis. I think the Rangers have more firepower than the Devils. This will be interesting to watch Marty in probably his final run to the Cup. I think Kovalchuk is the key for the Deivls. If he plays well, they have a great chance to knock off the Rangers. I don't like either team, so I hope they beat the hell out of each other so the Kings can steamroll a tired, bruised team in the finals
  21. I could care less what a high school kid did a long time ago. I could care less if a politician smoked dope (inhaling) when he or she was young, or even still. We all did dumb stuff as kids. Non stories, IMHO. What matters now is what the person actually stands for. Romney stands for whatever group he is speaking to. I hope the Republican convention goers kept their Kerry flip flops.
