  1. Call Randy Ottinger at USPA. He is the director of government relations. I am a commercial helicopter pilot. If you have a guy worried about stability issues and doesn't know FAA rules, I wonder how much experience he has flying. A 500 will be very stable.
  2. Airlie is awesome. I made a few jumps there about 10 years ago. Not the most scenic on earth, but in the top 10 for sure. For the right price you could get outside video.
  3. The folks in Ottawa looked like they were having fun today. Both the fans and the players.
  4. Asking legal advice on the internet usually gets you what you paid for.
  5. ...have met some pretty amazing people, and a handful of dipshits
  6. Lobster Festival-Ambergris Caye, Belize in June. Airlie Beach, Australia Cook Islands-autituki
  7. Smoke jumpers jump both round and ram air. It depends on if they are with BLM or the feds. seals jump ram air. Maybe someone at TacAir can chime in on if they ever don rounds.
  8. Bob Moore is getting a free skydive for that reply
  9. I saw him a few months ago. He said he's feeling pretty good.
  10. Too tight a stunt for like 99.9% of all skydivers in the world. That said, I don't like what he's doing, as we get enough bad publicity as it is. You can love, hate or have no opinion at all towards Jeb and his publicity jumps. I think what he does is a tremendous boost to skydiving. Wingsuiting and now BASE proximity wingsuiting are the skysurfing of today. Remember the X-game skysurfing? Evry Whuffo in the world asked jumpers if they jumped a skyboard for years in the 90's. What do all Whuffos ask us now? "Ever jump one of them there squirrel suits"? Most Whuffos have seen Jeb on TV interviews. I think I can count on one hand the number of jumpers that have been interviewed on a show like "Conan" that was for doing cool shit, not almost going in. Jeb is a publicity hound. sure. But he is great at it. So was Patrick DG, before he went in. Remember "Point Break"? Skydivers robbing banks. Damn that pumped up the skydive biz. Was it a retarded script towards jumpers? Yup. So What? I would rather have the likes of Jeb and Jet Man Yves Rossy getting good publicity in the mainstream media instead of some dipshit that nearly dies with a two out wrap make the "Today" show. Now does Jeb owe the SA BASE community a huge apology? Did he burn a great site? Maybe. That's between him and the BASE guys and gals there. Jeb inspires Whuffos to the DZ to make a jump. That's a good thing. I'm glad he didn't go in. I hope he slows down a bit.
  11. Some DZ's are surrounded by some pretty high hills. If I was at Lost Prairie that might be a good idea.
  12. Yup, because 11% of workers in America are in a big labor union.
  13. Congrats! Some day over a beer I want to hear the tandem double mal story
  14. No. I hope to post the new training on line. Maybe we could get it posted here.
  15. I think the OP is speaking about the P3 organizers. Did you call the organizers and ask what is going on? Or do you want us to call them for you?
  16. One hotel room remaining. 188 total participants. e-mail me ASAP if you can make it!
  17. If a town is too small for one lawyer, two lawyers will thrive.
  18. The video has probably not been authenticated for use as evidence. The court would have to look at it and have expert witnesses testify that this was in fact the video, has not been altered and has been kept safe since the incident from tampering in a chain of evidence type way. A lawsuit against a drop zone is not a surprising thing at all. Look at the skydivers here that put an incidents thread all over the map. It was the gear, the training, the AAD, the pilot, the instructor, the RSL, the rigger, the...blah, blah, blah... Now look at a family that knows nothing of skydiving. A loved one dies and everyone from Grandma to their mailman says..."You should sue them". So now the lawyer does a shotgun approach and sues everyone involved, hoping for a ruling in the family's favor. No matter how many pages a waiver is. No matter how safe and well run a drop zone is. No matter what steps are taken to prevent a death or injury, lawsuits can still be brought to court. The waiver and the drop zone's operations will probably hold up unless there is a case of true negligence. The drop zone owner will have to spend THOUSANDS of dollars to defend the business.
  19. I will be conducting another skydiver injury and treatment course in conjuction with Cal Fire and Mercy Air. There will be two classes. February 6th and 10th starting at 9am until noon. This is NOT a basic first aid or CPR course. This is training on mechanism of injury and treatment of such related to skydiving for the responding professionals. If you already have at least a basic first aid certification or above, please feel free to join us. We will be filming this session and putting it online for everyone to view. I'll keep you posted on where it will be available. I am out of the DVD's due to the overwhelming response by everyone. Thanks for your interest in making our sport a little safer and more efficient in the event of an accident.
