The $100 per flight proposed tax: what will you pay?
grimmie replied to Divalent's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The sky is not falling, but here is what could happen. My DZ has an LOA with ATC. We have two assigned beacon codes for jump planes. When we operate we show up on the controller's screen as an IFR aircraft, even though we are flying VFR. All DZ's contact ATC. I could see the Feds wanting us to pay as a technicality. Yes, it looks like for now the wolf has been kept out of our pockets, for now. -
I think Ovie is on fire and will torch Tort's team. I hate the Caps, but them in 6. I want an LA Kings- Pens final

I'm guessing you never saw Gordie Howe play

Jump tickets would go up $10-$20 at most DZ's. -

It would be cheaper to pay the $100 per flight tax than run a DC-3! -

Yup. This would put a lot of small turbine DZ's pack into 182's. -
The main issue is injuring yourself during the pregnancy, IMHO. I couldn't imagine a pregnant woman enjoying her last trimester with a broken femur or ankle.

All of the Ipad porn watching, Cheetos eating, still lives with momma, wanna be EXTREME bozos watching our sport's best and most daring don't give a rat's ass about their personalities. Alexander, Jokke, Jeb, Gary, the soul flyers, the Red Bullers like Felix, etc. all get people excited about coming out and making a leap, that's a good thing.

Early reports said the FD was there for a small fire before the explosion.

What's your biggest,"This is gonna hurt," moment?
grimmie replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
The NHL was locked out and we had several LA Kings playing on our Burbank team, "the point O eights". Gary Schuchuck was on my line and we jumped on the ice with 48 seconds remaining and a one goal lead against a team of ex pros from Europe. Gary took a slapper as he crossed the red line to dump it in. The puck hit a stick and went in to the rafters. I looked around to see where it went. Just as I looked up...damn, right in the chiclets! I took my mouthguard out and a bunch of my pearly whites were shattered. The ref skated up to me and had this shocked look on his face..." Dude, your fucked up"! It was 10:30 at night. Dave Taylor, the King's captain was also on our team. He called their team dentist. No luck. We called everyone's dentist and finally found a guy in Redondo Beach that would come in. The ride from Burbank to Redondo was grueling, as the pain was setting in. I won't bore you with the details, let's just say my triceps hurt the next day as bad as my mouth from griiping the dental chair for three hours. Four lost chiclets, four root canals and stiches from cut gums. Oh the memories -
Check out Skydive Mex in Puerta Vallarta. They offer AFF.

Not all of Mexico is unsafe. No one was murdered at the Cabo boogie last month, although I did murder a couple of brain cells. The Skydive Mex guys are getting a nice DZ rolling in Puerto Vallarta, maybe give them a call.

May 2,3,4,5. $20 jump tickets to 13,000! May 4th A-Star helicopter jumps. $70 to 5,000 feet! May 5th. RW with Josh Hall. Load organizers each day. Nightly parties. -
My kids are 14 and 7. They are smart enough to check the spot and pull high. And I'm sure they would have worn their water wings. And if they didn't like the spot they're smart enough to ask for a go around. And I know thy're smart enough to ask someone more experienced to double check the spot for them if they were unsure. But I'm just lucky, they're a bit smarter than the average fat kid.

Damn dude, you're on to us DZO's. Last March I tried to set up a bunch of my paying customers in Nicaragua the same way. Except those bastards snuck their PFD's on the plane and saved themselves. And three of the sneaky jumpers made it to shore. Plot foiled...damn! On a serious note, sell your gear. Really. And it's spelled "towards". After reading this and the Eddie Bryant Jihad thread, I don't want to hear any fun jumpers ever complain about DZ's being a tandem only operation

Help a rookie: Becoming a professional skydiver
grimmie replied to NuclearCaffeine's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Help out around your home DZ. Empty the trash, pack, load the plane, whatever the DZO needs help with, ask if you can do it. Hopefully you'll score some jump tix in exchange. Keep your eyes open, ask questions, watch canopy landings, take a basic first aid course. Get your degree. Jump, a lot. Hang out in the loft, learn gear. Learn to fly video. Keep helping out at the DZ. Get a coach rating. Get a tandem rating, get an AFF rating, get a rigger ticket. Keep yourself in good shape. Good luck!
