Well my fellow puckers, it's almost time! This is going to be a very exciting season. Some things to ponder... Will the Hawks get to the Finals again, or have they lost too many key role players? Will the Kings bounce back and make a deep run? Who will have a better season and win the Calder, Eichel or McDavid? Will Kessel and Crosby light it up? The Jets, Calgary and the Wild seem like they are ready for a Cup run. Will the Rangers battle it out with the Pens, Bolts and Rangers for East dominance? Will Tampa get back to the Finals? Is Detroit back to being dominating? Will Babcock make a difference in TO? Will Dallas make a run? Will old man Jagr net 20 goals? I am predicting a Kings/Pens Cup battle! And happy 50th birthday to Super Mario today!

Life lessons learned from this sport
grimmie replied to potatoman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The trash can on the packing mat can be overflowing and not a single person thinks it's their job to pick it up and toss it in the big dumpster 20 ft. away. edit to add. Except for a couple of jumpers over the years that are never afraid to pitch in and are great additions to the dz. I'd really like to hear the story behind this -
Life lessons learned from this sport
grimmie replied to potatoman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Jumpers all know how to fly a jump plane better than the pilot. Everyone else gets hurt swooping, but not us. Skyhooks and an AAD will save us from anything. The DZO is THE only person allowed to empty the trash can on the packing mat. Just because my reserve is a month out of date and my USPA expired two years ago is NO reason to forbid me from jumping. It's my right! You don't lose your girlfriend, you just lose your turn. The size of a canopy is inversely proportional to the size of an ego. That stupid shit only happens to everyone else. Wing suiters are the bane of a DZOs existence. Send the hot tandem chic with the happily married instructor. -
Tsunami Skydivers of Oceanside New Ownership
grimmie replied to grimmie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Today was my last day as DZO of Tsunami Skydivers of Oceanside. My long time pal Mike Vetter, DZO of "Go Jump" in Germany has purchased the rights to the Oceanside location. The name will be changing soon to 'Go Jump Oceanside". I still retain ownership of Tsunami Skydivers Inc. and will be conducting my annual exotic boogies and other assorted skydiving events. I'll also be busy helping folks get through the red tape of opening new drop zones around the world and training EMS responders to DZs. Plus I look forward to some much needed family time in the RV. And it's going to be great fun to start jumping more! Thanks to all of you that have come out and supported us over the past three plus years. Mike has great plans to move the DZ forward and has secured a long term lease at the airport. -
sigh...I miss Nerdgirl!

I guess union busting isn't as popular as it used to be. Didn't the Koch's pledge 900 million for this guy's run?
-
The city flipped out over the Freedom Tower jump. They can't understand the difference between BASE jumping and skydiving. The USPA is on this in a big way, as is the demo team. The ordinance allows pre approved military and emergency bail out skydives.

At my firehouse in California. Worried sick about all of my friends on the FDNY. Wondering if LA would be a target.

Yup. There is no good or bad "side" to be on any longer in the Middle East. http://www.economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail/2015/04/daily-chart-0

I have met McAfee a few time in Belize. He wanted to make a jump with us but never did. A good friend of mine was his assistant there for a few years. Think Trump/Hunter S. Thompson/Charlie Manson/Howard Hughes/Timothy Leary/Hugh Hefner/Howard Hughes... all rolled up into one human being. He's a nutter...

I have a commercial helicopter rating, I can sell ice to Eskimos and I am jobless next month. Hmmm.... Can I work out of my RV while visiting national parks or my beach front bar office in Belize???

Sailing adventure life or Regular adventure life?

If you don't follow your dreams, you will regret it when you are older. -
BREAK the chain... the making of a non-incident.
grimmie replied to fcajump's topic in Safety and Training
It amazes me when someone is ridiculed for riding the plane down or chopping a canopy "others could have landed safely". A nice reminder to never get complacent. -
Ted Turner and Bill Gates used to rule the information world. Now its Zuckerberg and Page/Brin.

I just drove from California to Montana and back. Every town we stopped in had help wanted signs up. There were some billboards with companies recruiting workers. About every third semi truck had drivers wanted and a phone number. You should have seen the casino parking lots in Vegas. Packed. The national parks are all up over 20% in attendance this summer. I own a DZ. We sell something people don't need as a necessity. We have never been busier. Housing is up. Shopping malls are packed. When I attend Chamber of Commerce events there are many businessmen and women looking for employees. Carry on...

I think that those that disdain Obama are baffled by him.

Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise

Palau. Simply amazing AND you can snorkel Jellyfish Lake. Navot Bornovski owns FishnFins dive shop. He's a skydiver and all around great guy. He'll look after you. It's a long flight but WAY worth it. He also has two live aboard boats. He also has a helicopter and you might sneak a jump in. We are discussing hosting another boogie there in a few years. http://www.fishnfins.com/

People who have paid for ALL of their jumps
grimmie replied to mik's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise
grimmie replied to stratostar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Why would you guys waste your time and energy posting on their facecrack page or in the Times Call newspaper? It would be like CQS posting their views constantly here. Nobody is changing their mind anytime soon. All you are doing is feeding her anger and ego. IMHO -
Skydiving is safe – but not as safe as you might think
grimmie replied to maggyrider's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's pretty simple, really. In my entire lifetime, I have known three people that died in a car accident. Since 1980, I have been friends with 46 people that have gone in skydiving. Not included in this statistic are friends that died in skydiving aircraft accidents. Carry on... -
That will never happen as long as voters, the GOP and the NRA think Obama, Liberals, FEMA, etc. will take everyone's guns. Thus the reason we can never, ever have a rational debate over logical ways to curb gun violence.

Ian was a hell of a great guy. He jumped at my DZ often. He was a diver, so doing aerials were usually no problem for him. On this jump he caught his pc on his leg and had a horseshoe mal he couldn't clear. The SoCal skydive and BASE community and his many friends world wide are reeling from this.
