  2. Not a cypres, but an FXC12000... Had my very own personal downplane too (Something I've posted before) At jump 50 I ended up under 2 canopies, don't know my exact pull-hight but after canopy check I was at 2100 ft. A bit too low because since the FXC at our DZ is set at 1000 ft you should be open by 2500 ft. It may have been the FXC was 'sharp' already in which case it could have fired at any altitude after opening shock, or that I was in the 1500 ft-above-firing-height-window. Had removed the brakes on the main (front canopy) because I didn't know yet I had 2 out. Flew very very gently with main toggles after I found out. Main was 230 sqft, reserve 256 sqft. Ended up with a personal downplane at 1000 ft so chopped the main. Got grounded for a couple weeks, not really because of the too-low pull, but because I chopped the main Explanation: another skydiver was under his reserve, my instructor was watching HIM after seeing me 'safely' in a bi-plane. He didn't see the downplane. My coach did though... ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. I have premiere pro. I just drop the wma on an audio track in an otherwise empty project, then file - export audio. I've never used 6 (I started out with 7) so I hope this'll work for you... ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Haven't tried this, so don't know if it works with a protected file (I think it will) and how the quality is. But premiere can both read wma and export audio to wav. You can then convert the wav to mp3 using a music convertor program. This is a roundabout way, of course, if you can't find the song in mp3... Why do you need mp3?   7. I had my first spinner because of an icarus slider... My Safire 135 had the same "loose ends". After the cutaway, I had my rigger shorten them, and asked Icarus: "Yeah we know, we've since changed the slider design" Well.... thanx for letting me know ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. But what after the canopy leaves straight flght. I'm not a swoop god, but I've done front riser stuff up high with big canopies and it was a lot easier to due front riser turns on a 250 as opposed to a 300. -Blind Maybe it's because the lines of a bigger canopy are longer, so you're pulling relatively lower so need more force? Also, I think not all canopies have the same amount of load on the front and on the backrisers. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any difference in the force needed for frontrisering a samesize spectre/stiletto. Or am I talking nonsense here? (I'm tired ) ciel bleu, Saskia

  11. First poin of contact is just that, the first point where you touch the ground! If you touch the ground with any part of your body (be that your feet, your thighs, your nose) that's your first point of contact. This is for distance. Sand makes this much easier to judge, or clipping the grass... This is a rule that has lead to a lot of arguments during our Dutch Swooping Tour. Backup video shot from a point far enough away is helpful here, but can be hard to judge because of the angle (and also, make sure you have a clear shot of the entire course with no judges/spectators/landed swoopers in the way). For speed, you can kite the canopy and make a run for it, clear the 2nd gate before your canopy hits the ground. For accuray, besides water points, your first point of contact counts plus the spot where you come to a complete standstill (if that spot gives you less points). ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. I still jump my Spectre 135. I also have a Triathlon 135 and a 120, also great. I did have a couple of linetwists a couple of times (my first couple of jumps on a Classic, and a couple of jumps on a MTR1, caused by pilotchute-in-burble). My Spectre untwisted itself everytime while I was undoing my zippers

  14. You can have either, or both. I tried using the alarms on my hand-mounted alti, unfortunately it's too difficult to hear (I wear a helmet). Can't have everything ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Thing is, I know I'm a lowtimer..... And the distraction of any kind of videocamera on a jump where you should still be learning to jump scares me, but hey, I'm no instructor. But in our country, you wouldn't get away with even a little camera without at least 200 jumps (depending on what you want to film). And even 200 jumps is nothing, really.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. I don't really understand this reasoning. If you're sitting, you're vertical speed is typically faster than if you were belly to relative wind using the entire surface area of your body for drag. Faster vertical speed = harder opening shock. I wouldn't think that going into a sit would "cushion" your opening shock. Maybe I'm wrong. If you sit up after throwing, you won't gain much vertical speed, and you won't get flung upright by your canopy. Hence the cushioning. Some of us do something like that when jumping a birdman suit, when if you're not careful beeding enough forward speed, you get flung round until your feet are just about touching your slider (ouch, from personal experience ). ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. You do know you sound like a troll, right..? If you buy a camera with the intent of jumping it, get a Sony. Period. These don't come in the 100-150 dollar price range of course. Then, get at least 200 jumps under your belt before jumping video, and get good at the discipline you want to film before filming it.   18. Your equipment is not designed to be opened belly to earth, but rather, belly to relative wind (think about a hop'n'pop). But as long as the speed isn't too high, you can deploy head-up (think about skysurfers). So if you just pop-up to cushion opening shock a bit, i don't see the problem. Just don't go in a sit and just... sit there for a bit before pulling, letting your speed build up. That's not a good idea of course... ciel bleu, Saskia

  21. 1000 ft? 650 ft... Less time to get shot down Eric took one of the veterans for a tandem, the guy said, under canopy at 1000 ft: "We're lucky!!" "What, you mean that we can jump from 12k now?" "NO! There's nobody shooting at us!!" He enjoyed the jump tho

  23. When I had my 2 out (FXC12000 fire), my main was quite alright for a bit. Did my canopy checks, checked alti (ooops 2000ft). Then my canopy started to behave somewhat sluggish. Looked up, and further up, oh sh*t. My freebag had been trailing me for a bit, I never noticed untill the reserve was fully open and started to push at my main.
