    Bungee

Yep. Parachutes de France's Atom used to come with a bungee system, no idea if the newest Atoms still have them (at the moment, the PdF website seems to be in French only). But there are a fair lot of them around anywhere you see older Atoms... ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Come to think of it, our CRW dogs that use a terts sometimes attach it via this same method. They've been doing that for years, although not that many people use a terts anymore and the better-equipped ones have the D-rings sewn on their webbing. Most of the CRW rigs that are for rent here are Invaders, no idea who made them, but these rigs most often have this mod... ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Hmm true... At the time it applied to me, about 1 1/5 yr ago, the problem with the adjustable main lift webbing hadn't come to light yet (I think)... I personally doubt this mod can do much harm in the way we usually use it, ie on different rigs, and only every now and then. It's not on long enough to cause harm. I think. But I think I'll let my rigger do the thinking on this one So, don't try this at home, kids ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Just found out that anything I do after typing, ie going back and adding a smiley or bold or something, ends up after the entire text. Pretty annoying (but not annoying enough to go back to IE though) ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Well, like the title says, I can't link to a posting using Firefox ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Huh, the copy link for posts doesn't show up in Firefox Anyway I explained this one before, here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=695647;search_string=ring%20main%20lift%20web;#695647 (hope this link works, else search for main lift web, crw, rings) ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Another idea: for some of the rental gear at our DZ, we can put D-rings on the mainlift webbing, one on each side, with as much rings as needed to shorten the main lift web. Costs: just the hardware. I wouldn't want that for my own rig, I'd shorten the main lift webbing, but for rentals it made the rigs a lot safer for shorter people. There's even one girl at our DZ who has the rings on her own rig. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. € 11 or €12 (depending on the day) for 3.5k-5k (usually you get 4k). ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. My lasik doc used to fly stunt aircraft. He said to wait 2 months before jumping, so I listened! BTW for stuntflying, make that 3 to 4 months... ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. LOL last year I got to do a dragplane... We had the annual Crew Spectacle at our DZ. I got my license stuff done that week (had to pick one discipline, picked crew). So after the "serious stuff" I wanted some fun! Me and my big mouth ended up rehearsing (yeah that's what it was, really!) the dragplane, I was on top of Gadget's back I think when Cato sidled over, This looks interesting, need a camera? Yeah! Did a 4way stack with me docking fourth and then went freeflying
  11. I used to love my old 35-135 mm Canon. If I still had a Canon, this is the lens i'd get (mostly shooting swoop, landings, base): Canon EF 28-135/3.5-5.6 IS USM ø 72mm € 415.00 This is the lense i'd like: 70-200/2.8 L USM IS ø 77mm € 1707.00 ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. No such thing as a PD 150R! PdF lists the Techno 140 as 321 cu: http://www.parachutes-de-france.com/sources/html/clients/fr/produit_t/129.html They redid their site, looks much better only the "english" button doesn't seem to work yet... ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. This shop has a couple (it's in Holland though): http://www.skydivesupplies.nl/ ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Both literally mean: I know that I don't know anything. Ik weet dat ik niets weet... ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Get one of these: http://www.rainbowsuits.com/en/jumpsuits/airtherm-suit.shtml problem solved! ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Those splicers produce html code which can be difficult to work into your own code if you have anything else then a "standard" photo page (ie don't use javascripts for pop-ups or something). A spliced picture will still be vulnerable to a simple print-screen. I'm having the same problem, and sometimes I find pics of mine on other sites. But the fact that they CAN grab those pics themselves saves me a bunch of work, since a couple of friends that are allowed to, can do the work themselves.... And the quality is so low, everybody else is welcome to them, if they just want to print them at home or save them as a background. My problems lately have mostly been because people are using original photo's I once gave them for something they shouldn't for instance our version of USPA had a competition where you could send in winter pictures for their xmas card. The 2 prize winner pictures were both made by me The one that won was made by me but I was paid for it, so other then that I would have liked to see my name on it too, that was ok. The other one was NOT. The guy that sent it in will not get the prize for it, but neither will I I'm against anything that is a lot of extra work for me, but I still want to make a script for photoshop to do the watermarks. Or if somebody already has one..? ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. It's a she And a very light one. Do the math... The point however is a good one, since if you're ligthweigth you may want/need to wear lead, which adds to the wingload. But adding weight just for the sake of increasing your wingload is not what I would suggest to a beginner. I did it for crew, some swoopers do it too, but would you suggest a beginner wear more then a few pounds of lead? She'd need a LOT to bring her wingload up if she's flying a fury... ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Well if you want to jump over the border (The Netherlands), you will not be allowed to jump a 120 with so little jumps, I'm sure. Over here you need 100 jumps to be allowed to go smaller then a 170, no matter what you weigh (there's a wingload limit too but not applicable in your case), and you need 500 (!!) jumps to be allowed to go smaller then a 150, and you still have to jump at least a 120 till 1000 jumps! Although personally I think keeping very light people on 150's for 500 jumps is a bit overboard, I started jumping a 135 way before that, I definately do agree that a 120 is a damn small canopy, and the 2 light girls I'v seen that had a 120 as their first own canopies both had a LOT of trouble landing decently, even though their wingload isn't even 1:1. They took about 200 jumps each I do believe to learn to land their own canopy standing up and accurately!!! I know belgium doesn't have quite as many rules as we have (understatement), but, be careful... i even noticed a big change going from a skymaster 230 to a merit 190, because that canopy actually FLEW. And my own spectre 150 (at 1:1) was FAST!!! Well not so fast now, but at 50 jumps, it had me pretty nervous every jump, at first... Whatever you decide to do, please do some jumps on a 190, 170, 150, 135 first and see if any of those scare you, if so, don't buy a 120 Or maybe I'm just a wuss and you'll do fine... ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. there's also a voigtlander/tamron/etc 3.5-4.5 17-35 mm, much cheaper ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Good luck... I jumped a tempo 175 clone once, at less then 1:0.9 and with 550 jumps of which 5 were reserve rides under my belt. Ate dust bigtime... Flare was non-existent... My advice (but who am I) is getting either a smart, pd or techno, and getting a BIG one. I load my transfair (old techno 128) at 1.25 and it has mostly put me down nicely so far. 1.4/1.5 is imho way too high a WL for a reserve, esp with lower jumpnumbers and if you've never been under your reserve yet, but I'd personally ditch the tempo real quick (I heard they are more popular in the states, over here there're not), and maybe look for another rig that can hold a more reasonably sized reserve too! ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. life is like a shooting star it don't matter who you are if you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time (Live-The Dolphin's Cry) ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. That's because the original Sabre is being used as student canopies at one or 2 dz's here. The chart will be somewhat revised soon, too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Use a flexible piece of tubing for the inside, use something that can take the temperature changes. I used gasoline tubing, think it's latex (rubber). Plastic usually is no good. I've seen other people's inside thingies brake up. Not really a problem I suppose but mine are much better
  24. Roel (who's also on dropzone) jumped a diablo 120 for wingsuit jumps for a while after deciding a tri 135 was too boring. He now jumps a diablo 99.... Don't know how much he weighes but my guess is he loads the 120 at ~1.55 and the 99 at 1.9, or something equally high... I saw him open once, way lower than me, with a couple linetwists (on the 120). I thought, oh well, see ya! But he get out of the twists, no prob. So, if you're used to jumping HP canopies and have a lot of jumps, maybe the diablo will work, at least it does for Roel... But I'm sticking to my spectre 135 and tri 120, although I'd really like a pilot 124 from Santa ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. One spinning mal caused by the slider tabs on a Safire 135 (=126 sqft), one lineover on a sabre 135, one spinner on a spectre 135. 2 intentional cutaways, and one time my FXC fired (at >2000ft) so I had 2 canopies... So, for me, about 1 reserve ride every 100 jumps The 3 malfunctions were probably avoidable, since one was a slider problem that was later fixed by the manufacturer, one was caused by a tired packer and one was prolly caused by a brake fire... And the FXC fire, well I should've been open at >2500 ft instead of at 2100... ciel bleu, Saskia
