  1. Keep your nut bag to yourself. I hope you like to jump by yourself. Good luck finding a pilot. (unless he is gay) Guess you're 'tude would be different if he was a girl ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Only buy a fast card. SanDisk UltraII, SanDisk Extreme III or Lexar 80x work the best with Canon camera's (and most other digi reflex camera's too). There're slight differences between the cards depending on which exact camera, but these are definately faster then others and are worth the money. There are lots of memory card test websites, I know i posted one once but can't find it right now ciel bleu, Saskia

  4. It IS possible, we just couldn't get it to work reliably enough to use for the world record 2004 dubbing. You need a switch not a hub. We could record to a camera and dv deck at the same time, and/or capture to a firewire hd which could be used at the same time by another laptop for editing. The problem was, it would work sometimes but sometimes not. Seemded to have to do with the order you plugged in and turned on the appliances. Was a pain in the %^& frankly, although a nice idea when it worked. So we had to dub the old fashioned way... ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Yeah. Got a few jumps without. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Dunno about the pdf, but the compass buttons are only found on the low-end camera's, whch a Canon EOS 5 is not, and the mid-range and top camera's still have the dials. And I think they' ll keep a dial, too. The back looks familiar is slightly more rounded. 3 fps is pretty fast for a 13mb camera. Folder creation is also something found in these kind of cameras. The 1.0x focus length would be great! Against it though is the website (netfun??) and the fact that AFAIK Canon hasn't let anything slip before, as opposed to Nikon, who recently DID. I think it's plausible. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. PAL. Your NTSC camera might be able to export by firewire to a PAL camera, but the footage would still be NTSC. Most of our equipment here can now handle both PAL and NTSC, but not all of it. So, for things like World Games, World Championships and World Team you'll still need PAL. Although if anyone from World Team with a NTSC camera has nice inside camera footage or ground stuff or whatever, give it to the camera team anyway; on a computer I'm getting the hang of converting
  8. You mean a back or front layout LOOP do you? Layout just means "stretched out", as opposed to tucked back or frontloops. Can't tell you how to fly them, I try them sometimes with my wingsuit but so far haven't managed them to my satisfaction Fun as hell though Ask someone that freestyles a lot they should know best! ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. If you cannot cutaway your main like in your scenario the first time, why would you be able to cut it away the 2nd time?? Esp with another canopy, your reserve, added into the mess. Also, this scenario requires a RESERVE that you can cutaway. There's a reason you can't do that on a normal rig: if it can be done, someone will! A tersh might help, I personally know of 2 jumpers it saved (on a CREW jump), but it also has potential negative effects. I think there used to be multiple canopies rigs around, I also think a lot of those jumpers died. More complicated in this case was more dangerous! ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. The fading is easier, I just crossfaded both clips into 4, making sure the 2 "half crossfades" are the exact same length as the 2 crossfades that are actually between 2 clips. At least that's what I should've done, for some reason now that I look back I ended up with 5 timelines instead of 4... Never mind, outcome is the same. See pic. 1 clip into 2 into 4. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. You use keyframes. Most (not all though) video effects have the option to put in keyframes, this looks something like on the right side of the effect in Monitor - Effect Controls. The dot in the middle puts in a new keyframe. Top right is also a button that's either >> or
  12. I'm not sure all our cameramen have the same attitude on this, I'd ask your cameraman before jumping. Bringing along your own camera and tape and firewire cable will probably help. You will not get the original tape for sure. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Hmm this is a bit too long for our needs. I'm looking for something more concise. Maybe something like you'd sign for US Nationals, if anyone knows? ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Can anyone provide me with the "official" english phrase for a waiver, where you sign away any portret rights (for competitors) and give the organisers co-copyright (or whatever you call it, we want to use it) for the videographers? ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Congrats, and I guess Bruno owes you some beer ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Why? It's a valid question... Never feel dumb for asking stuff ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Maybe check out the Lotus? ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. I'm no dude I used a TRV25E (PAL) and a VX2100 (NTSC). Sigh, the VX is soooo nice to use, it's even worth the converting hassle! I want one, PAL or not!!! However I'm broke... Anyone wants to go buy a nice new HDV cam and let me have their VX2100 cheap? Just recording doesn't change the format, that would be very nice indeed ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. I used Premiere Pro 1.5 to make a video with both formats because I ended up with both after the Norway swoop competition, and I wanted a PAL movie, so I figured out a way to do it: first I imported the ntsc clips into Premiere via a ntsc project. Then I opened a new PAL project for the pal stuff, and I imported the ntsc clips from my harddrive into the pal project. All ntsc clips that you use in your movie need to be resized to 120% and each ntsc clip also needs to be de-interlaced. Export as a PAL movie, et voila. I can't tell the difference between the ntsc bits and the pal bits
  20. Do a search, I know I wrote a posting or two in a thread about Lasik here before... ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. It is similar to it, except for the frontriser pressure (which is higher) and the flare (which is lower). Lower in the control range (longer break setting maybe?) or less flare? ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. This time, no. I didn't gather you had permission from your first post, which is why I asked. However it wouldn't be the first time that people did something like this WITHOUT permission... I personally had this happen to me, so it's sort of a pet peeve of mine. Especially if you make money of a video or picture you made, or even if you don't, it's really not funny if someone else hijacks your work. But, in this case, like I said the point is moot. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. It's not, or at least not where I live. You can copy the movie and distribute it without making a profit, but you can't change it (re-editing) without permission (which he has). However the issue in skydiving is more, it's such a small world really, why piss off people you're going to meet again later on. They're your fellow skydivers. It's not like it's a big company, where most people don't feel that guilty if they copy a movie from. Know what I mean? At least, that's how I feel about this. ciel bleu, Saskia
