Um why would that matter, you're not going to find many non-expert AADs 2nd hand anyway. And if you decided to change the unit you'd have a cypres with the wrong color button or will they change that too? ciel bleu, Saskia

Even if someone thinks it's dangerous they do no have the right to touch the gear. Get a rigger/instructor to ground it or the jumper, sure. But hands off of someone else's property. I once repaid a friend a favor by attaching and packing a main to his rig. I asked an assistant instructor for help how to pack a pullout and to do a linecheck with me, he asked who attached the main? When I said it was me he said that was dangerous, pulled the cutaway and walked away. WTF? If you have a problem with someones gear and they don't listen, go up a step in the chain of command if you want, but HANDS OFF. If they're not a student THEY are responsible not you. ciel bleu, Saskia

Also, most notice that these turns always turn them into the direction that they DO NOT want to go. These involuntary turns are often noticed when people land their canopy. They are convinced the the wind blew them of course But we know, they really only has one ball Student in pic: It was the WIND I tell you! It's been blowing me sideways on landing the whole day ciel bleu, Saskia

What Can We Do About Skyride II
dragon2 replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've seen skyride websites which had pics on them of our plane, our DZ, that's Teuge THE NETHERLANDS advertised as their own plane and pics, the photographer of course wasn't credited or notified and of course had not given permission. I've seen Spanish and French planes on their websites too so I suppose those pics have been lifted off other websites too. I know they copied entire website layouts. That's all copyright theft, but what're ya gonna do from this side of the pond. It does not make it legal in any way if we don't sue! ciel bleu, Saskia -
Did you check out the sticky thread up top and the CX7 thread that's 2 threads below yours? ciel bleu, Saskia

The 20 euro/min IS the skydiver rate. Unless you buy an hour it doesn't get cheaper. Jumping is at least 25 euro for 12k so the tunnel is a bit cheaper per min. With some skydiver deals you can get free coaching (we have some freeflyers who regularly have tunnel evenings like that) but that's it. Of course beginners get free coaching from the tunnel marshalls and he should say he's going for AFF (some of the marshalls are AFF instructors too). You can fly to Orlando if you want to book like 2 hrs and still have money leftover ciel bleu, Saskia

Will a bag lock slow you down or increase your speed?

Hope for your sake you never have to depend on your "theory". ciel bleu, Saskia -
Bet he'd have liked to have a matter-style release for this jump ciel bleu, Saskia

Icarus Safire 2 - Pro Pack or Psycho Pack - read first
dragon2 replied to ikebonamin's topic in Gear and Rigging
My safire 1 135 always snivelled for ~1000ft, put another pilotchute on it, problem solved. The safire 1 119 I jump now opens just fine with a pro pack, as did the safire 2 119 i borrowed for a few jumps. Just don't roll the tail too much and just leave the nose hanging. i've never tried psycho packing don't see why i'd have to if pro-pack works fine ciel bleu, Saskia -
How About Cutting SKYRIDE Some Slack?

The peleng's glass is not all that good and I very much dislike the heavy vignetting it has. And yes I prefer jumping with autofocus, and I'd prefer not to jump any manual lens on a Nikon < D200 (no lightmetering either), A D200 or better or a Canon would be different but still. As this sigma is about half cheaper than the very nice Nikon 10.5mm fisheye (don't think Canon has anything similar) and presumably has no vignetting problem it seems like a very nice addition to a skydiver's lens collection for specialty shots. Also for tunnel shots. ciel bleu, Saskia

And you could try the search, there have been a gazillion threads about which lens to use for what discipline. ciel bleu, Saskia

I've jumped a canopy with no brakes set, result was very slow openings with usually a stuck slider that always came down but had to work at it a bit. Later on the canopy had brake stowing thingies fitted and it still opens awfully slow, don't think I've heard of more stuck sliders on that canopy after that, not sure. We have some CRW canopies (120, 99) at our DZ that are always jumped without brakes set, and some of our tandem canopies too. So I don't think not stowing the brakes would cause that many problems. In fact the tail of the canopy slamming together sounds like too much brakes to me? ciel bleu, Saskia

There are an awful lot of Atoms around in my country + the surrounding ones, so there must be something good about it Never jumped an Electra myself but supposedly it is way better than its predecessor the Merit which I hated. Resale value over here would be fine, although PDs always have a somewhat higher resale value than all other brands, for some reason. Then again you'd pay more for a sabre 2 too. I have a few jumps on French reserve canopies they are great, they fly better than a PD-R (in that they fly more like a main canopy and have better flare), I likes

sorry but what is vignette? vignetting on a stills camera: http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,489/page,view/catid,38/PageNo,3/key,287/hit,1/ ciel bleu, Saskia

I generally jump without any filters since i usually jump a 16mm fisheye. For my other "good" lenses I have good UV filters though, ranging from B&W multicoated to Tiffen for cheap. If my still lens took a filter I'd put one on, but a good one not a cheapo. My 16mm comes with a built-in hood, i'd be afraid any other type might break with the speeds we're going, and the floppy types are of course no good either. ciel bleu, Saskia
