  1. I'll have a go at this: swooping a frozen pond: DUVEL-ing swooping a frozen pond on skates without brakes: MIKE-ing swooping a frozen pond on sneakers without brakes: THEO-ing cutting away while sliding on your ass on a frozen pond: GERT-ing well anyway the video is fun if you haven't seen it yet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXYqmTkA5XI ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Photoshop Elements does all that too and costs the same, and will prepare you better for the full photoshop and/or other adobe software. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. For CRW it's good though, and some cameraflyers swear by it too. I however prefer to stick with BOC for all my jumps, safer to not switch all the time and it works fine. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. You check for traffic do you? Canopies are included. Also, manifest is ALWAYS in contact with the pilot. As for different altitudes, someone may need to do a 9k jump for their SL/AFF progression and it's a few bucks cheaper than 12k. Yes every now and then we have to do a go-around. Usually we need at least 4 jumpers for a specific altitude to make separate jumpruns otherwise it's too expensive. We can also do 10.5 jumpruns for FS4 training, then the rest goes to 13k. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. We have plenty of time between jumpruns, so for normal skydives there never is a problem. We are used to jumpruns at various altitudes in the same stick: 3.5-5k, 7k, 9k, 12k. So when anything like a premature opening happens, tandem or otherwise, the pilot gets a call from manifest. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Well obviously I'm no TM, but the head-low drogue throwing and the slight turn seem to me to create more potential for trouble than necessary. The only time I see exits like that at my DZ is with a for some reason somewhat difficult passenger. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Errrr, what do you mean? Those exits are sorta 90o out the door then turning to the tail and going head-low a bit. Why not a stable front-facing head-up exit? ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. LOL what's with the exits?? ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. I'm quite curious if fairly sceptical to see if that holds true or not. So, you're gonna be the guinea pig? ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. A pilotchute can not have enough drag (uncollapsed, too large main, ...) to lift the bag out of the container even when the pin is gone already. Happened at our DZ a year or so back. A horseshoe is any connection between you and the parachute besides your 3rings, you can still get the bridle wrapped around your arm or get your leg in the lines etc. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. It's not loud in freefall if you wear a helmet with ear covers, or for even quieter jump a fullface helm. If I do a jump without camera I need to jump either without a helmet or with a pro-tec with earholes, yes that's loud, very loud in comparison. So, go get yourself a decent helmet You could also consider earplugs, the good ones let you still hear speech while muffling engine and freefall noise. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Sidenote: you can still get a pilotchute in tow and horseshoes and premature deployments are also still possible. Less likely? Probably. Elimination, no. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. 2 month wait for lasik is safe. For other methods, no idea. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. You will need a pocket, usually but not always those are spandex. Who cares about "polluting" the look, it's not that bad and it's safe We have a few convertable rigs on my DZ, in fact mine is too, I jump it as a BOC all the time anyway. It's pretty hard to tell it was a pullout rig first. Did you really buy a pullout just because it LOOKS NICE? ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Tonfly does have a box for the CX6, cheap too! ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. You want a 7cell for crw. The lightning is the canopy of choice, some other canopies are jumped too. You can do casual crw with your spectre too but a real crw setup is safer. The wingload depends on what the others are flying, currently 1.3-1.4 seems to be used a lot but if you're not ready for the "common" wingload then the other(s) will probably adjust to you. Searching posts from a year old is fine, the info stays fairly current. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. So, put more jumps on the canopy it'll get easier to pack, and ask someone good at packing to show you some tricks to make it easier. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Why would you want to downsize when you make so few jumps/year? You're already at the 1.1-1.2 wingload suggested for your jumpnumber and that's with regular jumping... The pilot is a great canopy, the size fits you, what about it is not making you happy? ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. fixed it for ya ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. I had 2 rigs for a while one with a spectre 135 and one with a safire 135 (which is about a size smaller than the spectre), I was having trouble landing the safire where i wanted to, I usually overshot quite a bit (>120ft). I was jumping a few different canopies mainly 7 cells (spectre, lightning, triathlon) so the one 9cell was a different animal it was smaller and flew much further. After 80 jumps I sold it. I was jumping too many different canopies then, right now I jump mostly safire, with some spectre, vengeance, springo, lightning, stiletto, sabre etc in between, different sizes too, and I don't care, I could jump demos with each. But back then it sorta was a problem for me. For me at 300 jumps or so it was better to focus on one (type of) canopy and go from there. YMMV. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. if you're talking about a pro-track, give L&B a call. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. I really really do not get why you would want to listen to music in freefall or under canopy. If anyone wants to do that, please get out on a solo pass and stay the hell away from others. "Cause of incident: skydiver was paying attention to his mp3 player not to what he was doing and to others" Tip for audible makers, make one with a mp3 ringtone ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. A spectre is a good first canopy. A nitro/nitron is not. They are not remotely the same. 7 cell vs 9 cell, semi-elliptical vs elliptical. Get a spectre. ciel bleu, Saskia
