  1. He had given the shop a cd-r with photos to print, to sell I presume. Release my ^&*. Needless to say the camera team switched to another shop pronto. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Are you sure all countries have the same rules? Asia, Africa, South America, Eastern Europe? For instance in Thailand during WT2004 a photo by Bruno ended up on the frontpage of the national newspaper, nice full color big print, courtesy of the local photo shop. That same photo shop had loads of Bruno's pics plastered across it's walls and columns Now if they don't care about that, are you sure they care about the people who are actually IN the pic? Try and publish an unfavorable picture of the royal family there and the penalties are severe. Everyone else, I have my doubts ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Oh BTW you list a PD150 reserve which does not exist ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Doesn't your BPA have rules for this? Most countries have something to say about repacking a main, usually it's the same length of time as the reserve I think, so 4months-6months. 4 weeks is nothing Unless it's been wet (shouldn't have been packed unless jumped again right away) or you need to practice packing LOL ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. The copyright laws are different per country. In The Netherlands, it depends on the location - if I take photos inside your house I'd have to ask your permission for publication always. Also it depends on the person - if I take a picture in a public setting where you are recognizable AND you are damaged by publication you may refuse. Now "getting damaged" is hard to prove - if I took a photo of you looking at our RedLight District, it may damage you but tough luck it's your own fault. "Getting damaged" is way harder to prove for newsevents and for celebreties. If someone sees you taking photos even in a public setting and they ask you to STOP right now, then you can also not publish, if they complain later, tough luck. If what you are photographing is copyrighted (certain buildings, statues, art etc) you can also not publish without permission. If you are photographing "for hire" you can also not publish without permission (tandem videos anyone???). Like I said, these "rules" may be different in your country. ciel bleu, Saskia

  8. There are no single-element HD lenses. So a HD lens is fairly big esp for a handcam. ciel bleu, Saskia

  11. You can forward the email that you got from that buyer (first respons to your ad) to the address at the bottom "think this is a scam", this will forward the mail to Sangiro and when a scam the username will be disabled and he'll get a thread in the hall of shame here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?forum=44; ciel bleu, Saskia

  13. I sometimes wear them (oldish Odlo silk liners), but there are better ones now, of newer fabric. I have some real nice soft Northface gloves that are real thin and way warmer to wear as first layer. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Do you see much difference between Intel or AMD based systems for video editing? Also, is it worth shelling out the extra to get the pimped version of Vegas (meaning Pro)? Or is there another editor you'd recommend? Not sure about pc's but for laptops Intel sure beats AMD. ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. How old is that rig? I was asked once to do a gearcheck on a rig that sure looked like the one in the pic, on a Thai jumper. I declined since I didn't exactly know what I was looking at It had 2 reserve pins that I remember. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Get a quad-core, and so shall you be, depending on source and output format. SD DV to DVD should be much faster than 10 mins on output if you're using templates. Know any decently priced quad core laptops? My DZ just announced decreasing video pay next year, no way I can afford new equipment never mind a few grand ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. "Quick" is debatable with software, it's more the pc (RAM, cpu, graphics) which will determine rendering time, and you need a workflow for whichever software you use. I personally use PremierePro 2.0 on a high-end laptop and I can do a nicely edited video in about 30mins, with packing in the meantime too. I used to be slower but I made some templates and stuff so I'm pretty quick now as far as editing goes, but rendering eats up most of this time followed by capturing the video in the first place. The other camera crew here uses a linear editing system they can be done in
  18. How about something about which video camera, like only Sony, miniDV ok, memory card ok-ish, hd and dvd NOT ok, which cameras are sidemount-able, sidemount vs topmount, if the latest sports-type-cam is just as dangerous as a miniDV cam. These are questions that pop up just about every week ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. PC1000, PC350 are the best quality-wise IMO. PC 106/107/109 need a docking station for firewire which I find a hassle but the cameras are the smallest so that's good. PC106 has no DV-in (at least in Europe, might be different in US), same for PC2. PC2's battery cannot be charged while in the camera, very annoying (to me). A few people jump PC110 at my DZ that seems to be a nice camera. But you're gonna have to go on ebay to get any of these so you might just have to take what you can get All of these will work. Buy a few extra batteries too. BTW why do you want a pc series camera? Are you set on sidemount? Why? ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Forget exact measuring which video lens goes with which still lens, it totally depends on which brand video lens on which camera with or without a step ring, and which still camera brand (for DSLRs: generally canon x1.6 nikon x1.5 so a sigma 15mm is 24mm on a canon but 22,5mm on a nikon). I've had a .6 lens that was wider than my current .45 And not all still lenses are created equal either - I had a 28-200 lens that at 200mm had the same aov as my 150mm macro lens Using the same .45 lens gives a slightly different aov on my TRV25 as on my PC2. On my nikon, my 16mm is wider than my trv25/pc2 with hama .45, my 20mm is narrower, so 18mm or so would probably be a perfect match. Just take a guess at it, try to borrow the lenses if you can. It doesn't have to be a perfect match anyway ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Already a thread about this vid: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2979417;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. There's more to this, you can't simply say we accept usb connections, your equipment must be able to handle it. And AFAIK that might be a problem, esp. in cases where computers are not used. But for now Sony still has firewire on all models (AFAIK) and 99% of skydivers use Sony so not much of a problem there, yet. Also we have competitions demanding either 4:3 or 16:9 footage, some cameras cannot do both. There's nothing in the IPC rules about this so not sure how they want to enforce this, but I can understand they want the same format for all... ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Not the same camera but we had a girl jumping a Panasonic 3CCD HD camera this year. It only lasted like 3 months. It also reacted weird to changing light conditions like filming in plane-out the window-in plane, it changed the shutter speed to compensate but that made for awful footage sometimes, even for regular footage on the ground. From what I've seen so far, I wouldn't buy a panasonic or even jump one if I got one for free ciel bleu, Saskia

  25. Yes but the quality degrades and it takes a long time and you need a good computer to do it otherwise it takes much longer Do a search here for ways to convert PAL > NTSC and NTSC > PAL. ciel bleu, Saskia
