Another big safety hazard are rings. We have one jumper minus one finger, she left it at the door ciel bleu, Saskia

No there are no consumer cameras that can do both PAL and NTSC. ciel bleu, Saskia

I was asked to do a few freebee tandemvideos for "Flying Blind" this year, Flying Blind is a group of skydiving volunteers that give blind and visually impaired people the chance to jump for cheap. The first passenger I was filming was 100% blind. I had never met a blind person before, the briefing they were given was very tactile, I thought it was very very cool everyone, jumpers and their family and friends were so cool and so happy. I thought he was very very brave, daring to jump. He was enjoying his jump soooooooo much

Sony GV-HD700 HDV Video Walkman VCR
dragon2 replied to videointhesky's topic in Photography and Video
Why would you buy this over a (2nd) HDV camera? ciel bleu, Saskia -
I know that, that was a joke since I mostly fly FS/tandem camera these days ciel bleu, Saskia

That;s where I looked but still can't find it. Edit > Preferences > ........? Edit > Preferences > Import .... uncheck "Show import dialog when memory card is detected" Duh "Import dialog" is the entire program. Well it works now so thanx!

Hmmmmm would need to brush up on freestyle first and get the obligatory jumps on video. Does "some drag up top" include camera wings? Dunno if I even want to jump a beginner board, have been told it's actually safer to start with an intermediate board so you can open standing up. Maybe I would like to give it a try, I'll keep it in mind ciel bleu, Saskia

You're talking about giving them pics that they paid for right? So then they can put them on the internet yes. It's one of the uses they pay you for these days... as long as they're not getting paid for them and even then, it's probably work for hire so tough luck. I'm usually fine with people putting up pics on the 'net that I GAVE them as long as they credit me And i never put anything like a watermark/logo on pics someone paid me for (tandemjumps, funjumps, teamjumps) ciel bleu, Saskia

Depending on where you live there may be regulations about when you can start, ours are proven freestyle experience and a C license. If/when you have the required experience it may be hard to find a coach/teacher depending on where you live, the discipline isn't that popular anymore because it's a fairly dangerous and somewhat lonely discipline and not all dz's like the room it takes up in the aircraft and the dropping things out of the sky thing. That said it's still on my list of cool things to do sometime ciel bleu, Saskia

Anyone here using Adobe Lightroom? Anyone know how to get it to stop autostarting everytime I plug in a PDA, phone, mp3 player? This is quite annoying and the reason I uninstalled the beta version a while ago, now it's back on my laptop (v1.3) and I now remember why I uninstalled it ciel bleu, Saskia

Will a bag lock slow you down or increase your speed?
dragon2 replied to hackish's topic in Safety and Training
Well I saw a recent video of a baglocked tandem... Boy did they accelerate! Camera guy (also a TM) was so amazed he almost forgot to pull A few stows came undone then it went messy. The tandem pair was real lucky the TM pulled as high as he did (5k if memory serves), we counted it took 8 secs from attempt-at-main-deployment to a reserve over their heads and by then they were in cypres territory. The reserve is only just visible in the video as the camera guy pulls, so far below were they. Of course tandems are different from sports rigs but they accelerated like mad ciel bleu, Saskia -
I´ve jumped with regular batteries before - in my gps - never had problems. Methinks you just had a bad battery there? I would go for a decent brand next time, duracell or similar, I had some cheapo batteries either not work very well or break like yours, but in tv remotes etc. ciel bleu, Saskia

You may have better luck asking this in the camera forum, i know I´ve read about this company before... ciel bleu, Saskia

It might´ve been mine too, had not the photographer I bought a 2nd hand sigma 14mm f/3.5 ´in good condition´ from lied about said condition: that lens has it´s damn swimming diploma ciel bleu, Saskia

Bull. We have a long list of objectives you need to meet besides just jumpnumbers, that´s various freefall and canopy skills, spotting, gear checks, a written exam and packing. You´re just not allowed to change anything to your gear besides the closing loop and the stowing bands. ciel bleu, Saskia

You're welcome What I like about the paragear version is that it´s half width, which is what I usually want for my cameras. If you want the regular width tape you´ll have to buy somewhere else. ciel bleu, Saskia

You don't WANT any image stablisation when skydiving anyway. It has trouble keeping up and will make the image worse than without image stabilisation. Some people do jump their video cameras with stabilisation turned on but often you can see the difference - you can get vignetting and/or a shaky image ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Paragear does have it, check Camera Accessories near the bottom. ciel bleu, Saskia

OTOH if you're jumping with an offset needed that might be for the whole day, we have DZ's like that near us. So then the Vigil is safer because with the Cypres you have to remember to set it EVERY single jump. Both have their merits, neither is "dangerous" if you know what you're doing. ciel bleu, Saskia

This pisses me off! Don't just bark, explain and teach! Yeah well over here it's a debatable item whether you're allowed to change a main or if your rigger has to do it It depends on which DZ, which rigger and which jumper you ask. So I kinda asked the wrong guy, he would've been in his right to say I couldn't, but I was more mad at his cutting away the main (which turned out I had attached 100% ok) and then taking a hike too. At our DZ I grew up so to speak with people who change mains and risers and stuff around all the time (CRW people mostly, this rig was a CRW rig too) so I didn't and still do not see anything strange or dangerous in it, as long as you ask an experienced jumper to do it with you and not start just pulling lines off links but I've had my fair share of run-ins with people who think different I did teach some more people how to attach (demo) mains and do linechecks ciel bleu, Saskia
