  1. A lot of questions ;) Im receiving all video up to this point the coming week, and will edit a PF video with all information on the custom built jet engines, system, setup, gps/glide info etc to please the nerdy side that lives in us all Visa is doing cool stuff..thats all we have at this point.. 2. In testing, that more slower fallrates (flatter angle of attack) of the Stealth2 seemed to better work with the engines. A suit like the V3 does better in terms of Glide, but glide-distance isnt the objective with the jet-boots. Its fallrate (getting a negative one). Ive gotten fallrates as low as 8 mph with the Stealth2 (flare). Adding thrust/power, a skilled flyer, a dose of technology and a good crew helping him out to those results, you get beautifull things.. Funny how this really is the first time ANYONE is climbing with a wingsuit. Yet Ive heard many people mention how they could climb after a bit of diving (though never proven). Yvess Rossy is climbing with his wing, but is in a whole other class compared to wingsuits.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. All three are different idea's and concepts. Rigid wing, wingsuit, and Rocket engine (more aimed at high speed flying, akin to drag racing, than getting distance) Cant wait for an 80 jump wonder to come up to me and try and convince me his skate-boarding experience is enought to warent jump 81 being a rocket-flight on wingsuit Im perfectly okay having these people not commercialize their ideas (and dont think any of them wants..or should). If somebody is eager to set up a project like this, find a good crew, investors, and get busy JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. I think half the questions here will be geared towards finding sponsors and aquiring jet engines and an identical setup....so not all details will be shown haha... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Its a pair of Micro Turbines from AMT jets (A Dutch company) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. You could watch the video first, and than type...just so it sounds like you are actuallly commenting on the video you've just seen The airplane he exits in this video is an Antonov II. SkyJester, Yvess and other weird (powered) flight experiments also get by with special permits (and the occasional shady jump). The reason for more Balloons than airplanes is mostly related to engine start-up, and ease of exit (try to exit stable in a relative airstream, with a ton of thrust attached to your feet...easy to end up in a 200 mph dive... 7. Im receiving more footage/GPS data and additional info this coming week, and editing a video showing more of Visa's flights with the Jet Engines. So stay tuned for more... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Heyhey.. Normaly I only post al the stuff on wingsuitnews.com, but this one was just too damn cool not to post here. Steallth Fighter Jet Its Visa, who is now playing with new jet engines and the PF Stealth2. He is now not only getting level flight, but actually climbing. Check out the link above to see Visa chase an AN2, and fly relative to the airplane. Even slowly catching up. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Thank you...I also have to thank James Boole for helping with that one (in obvious ways). It was a powerfull experience to meet Kathy and Robert, and be invited into their home for a week. Welcomed with open arms by the friendliest people, and having such a great time...and than only a short time after coming home, hear the most horrible news ever.. That one week aside, I barely knew Robert. But had some great talks on skydiving, all things USA (it was my first time there) and freediving. Which seemed to be something his heart was in as much as base/gear and flying. He was just a great guy.. Seeing the effect his loss had on everyone (and the tremendous respect everyone has when talking about him) and with Robert also being such a great part of my experience in the USA, and him (sadly) evading the cameras at Zflock most of the time (which I guess was his humble, friendly style), it only seemed fitting to also include a nod to him in the video... 10. Though we probably can never tell 'pony' 'bang' and 'killing it' enough times in a day...its getting to the scary point where most people actually have no idea where this actually started (or why/what it ment and why it was funny at the time). Seeing as Yuri is rumoured to show up in 2010, how about finaly handing 'the Pony' to its orginal owner and you guys surprise the world by coming up with some creative new ways of having fun.. 11. p.s. Also some Purple Mike in there (duh!) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Hey everyone... Its been a long time (in part due to having 8+ hours of source footage to work through, and a ton of other videos I was working on). But its finaly done. The video is 23 minutes long, and features several special segments for wingsuit flying, canopy flight, pony and vagina (with penetrator) jumps, and ScottY Gofast and his amazing plane. A big thank you to everyone who was at last years event, and made the whole thing so memorable. Looking forward to fly with everyone again this coming March! Check it out! Flock and Dock 5 is on our website, and can be found in the video section. The slightly insane length doesn't allow for a YouTube upload, but for those wanting a quick preview, Ive uploaded a short trailer here p.s. The video ends with the long jumps Mike and I did. Probably not the most interesting video, but several people asked to see the footage, so its there as a credits/ending thing (should you REALLY be bored at work, and get some sick enjoyment from looking at a shakey version of google maps for 5+ minutes) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. You saw a documentary on wingsuits over 16 years ago? There are some docu/tv-items, showing bits and bobs of the old pioneers. With their tarp/wooden dowel constructions. The Eifel tower FAIL-blog entry being the most common one... Though not sure that would be anything remotely interesting, in terms of showing actual flight and getting you exited about it...(suicidal tendacies aside) I have some black and white 'air to air' (shot from another plane) and 'ground to air' footage on some flights by Clem Sohn that shows some nice (definging it as flying) forward movement. But nothing that would really want to make you go oooh and ahh, and rush into flying/making one yourself. Also havent seen the footage used anywhere for any type of video/movie/docu, so not entirely sure thats the thing either.. Most likely is the docu (called 'the skydivers') on the old movie 'Gypsy Moths' (1969), showing some crude wingsuit style flying. Its on the DVD (available at Amazon etc). Worth buying! 14. You could staticline it of a high appartment building...you can go pretty low with that one... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Oh, really? What are these 'handles' of which you speak? The cutaway some smart* basejumpers have in case of water or tree landings *not you JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  17. We are also looking at including some fun 2 way (scramble) competition element into Zflock. More soon on that one! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Id actually heard that stated as an SFly before. And have also heard scary stories on other suits/brands. Which shows its more about fit, than any specific company. Incorrect cable rigging easily caused the same issue for many in the past. In general, when you hear bad stuff on one brand coming from another manufacturer, its usually more marketing than safety. If they really found some safety concerns (like non functioning cutaways or legwing zippers opening in freefall) they would directly contact the manufacturer, and not just spread vague rumors among the people they train. This 'handle issue' goes for ANY wingsuit, model or brand: Make sure a wingsuit fits properly. Make sure your handles are clear and accesable. Thats not a manufacturer quote, thats common sense and safety.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. usually related to If you stand on the ground, with a rig on, and reach up. The hole still shouldnt be close to the handle. On any suit. Ive seen people give sketchy looks in the plane about their handles and suit fit (on just about any brand) and usually do the stupid thing, and jump it anyways. Just like you wouldnt jump a container/rig that doesnt close or fit properly. Dont jump a wingsuit if it doesnt go allong with your rig. Any rig. Any wingsuit. Its a fit issue, related to any brand. Check it, and be safe... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Just to clarrify: The suits where I have seen the handles get 'sucked' into the suit, this was exactly the case. The webbing was so tight against the pillow/MLW, it put tension on it when sitting in the plane or when the suit rides up a bit on opening (which is the actual crucial moment where you may need them). There is a bit of slack bellow the MLW/Handle for a reason on the S-Fly, TonySuit, PF suits for a reason. And usually when there is a sizing issue, the zipper/fabric rides close to the handle. It doesnt have to be an issue. But for sure isnt the thing that prevents it. A handle can poke through a hole 1/3d the size if there is enough pressure on it. The only real cause for handles getting sucked it, is incorrect hole placement. Which is 100% related to how well a suit fits. As long as the sizing on the suit you order is spot on, thats not an issue..But some slack near the handles, is for sure not a a bad thing. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. I know the hole on most other suits is the size it is, to allow for size variations and handle placement. A single, small hole may give a perfect fit on one suit/rig, and end up in fabric riding against the handle with a lot of tension on others. Resulting in either swallowed handles (a tiny, tiny hole can swallow handles as well, if there is enough tension) or handles actually being pushed out of the MLW. There have been some incidents with ill-fitting S-Fly's by people who should have flown a size bigger, and several some ones in Jii-Wings suits. But the size of the hole was NEVER the cause of that. Its the placement, and how it rides up against the handle or not. The Jii-Wings suit has a slit, the size of the MLW, and even there, its possible to have it swallow a handle. So good job on someone informing you on the problem of handles being swallowed. But its a suit size/hole PLACEMENT issue...not a hole size issue.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Cool Angles! Sweet video! Love these year-end videos! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. In terms of zippers, S-Fly & Jii-Wings where first TonySuit, PF and BM the ones that followed. Otherwise, they say copying is the highest form of complimenting.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. When it comes to wingsuit aerodynamics, there are two articles by Robert Pecnik in the Phoenix-Fly website Articles section that go a lot further than the available/aforementioned books published at this time. Definately worth a read, if you are looking at increasing your knowledge of basic aerodynamics and wingsuit performance. Wingsuit flying and Basic Aerodynamics 1 Wingsuit flying and Basic Aerodynamics 2 On wingsuit history, I believe there is no more complete book than the one by Michael Abrahams, Birdman, Batman and Skyflyers. Michael isnt a wingsuit flyer, but did some of the most complete research into wingsuit flying, and how we arrived at the point where we are today. Some small side-tracks in wingsuit design, and people involved are missed. But the broad story is more than complete, and definately a must have, for anyone even remotely serious about wingsuit flying. And also a good, enjoyable read. There is also a book/diary by Leo Velentin called 'Birdman', which is also really enjoyable to read. Though most of the stuff mentioned, is also covered in the book by Michael Abrahams. On the FlyLikeBrick website, there are also some articles which may be of interest to you. fallrate vs glideratio Wingsuit Formation Flying and basics wingsuit preperation And there is a wingsuit FAQ also covering some of the basics. Matt Hoover also has a really nice coffee-table book with photos, which is more than worth checking out. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. I will post some pictures and a detailed explanation this week. Just taking things a tad slow, as Im hurting a bit due to some idiot driving on the wrong side of the road, hitting me, and wrecking my car. Nothing serious on my behalf..just severe muscle ache everywhere.. But anyways..Ill post details on what we have so far, and am looking forward to further think, brainstorm, and expand on current judging methods. While quite clear 'the grid' has major flaws, and some formations fitting the grid have actually been skipped for USPA submittion due to 'not looking like a record' even though it was fully validated. I do wonder whats up with all the hinting at FAI submittion/acceptance. With the entire community agreeing its an incorrect basis gor judging, it seems like a weird thing to still take that system and start the proces of getting it accepted..waiting at least another year till there is another actual working method seems like the more sane thing to do.. I hope there is no active IPC push for the grid this year..but a lot of comments seem to suggest otherwise... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
