  1. Wow...you should read your own posts from the last year back than.... insulting people about not having their blockbuster video card, glider licence, and go knows what ever other thing you can come up with. Again...you are talking about the whole thing from a 'less optimal solution' that 'sorta works' we are talking 'better would be' even though you might not agree with the financial aspects and bitch about something else again... My exit weight...who cares...I fly a shadow and can fly that thing in carpet flocks and flocks that travel faster than a fridge filled with lead...dont really need a big suit for that stuff.. Id rather make a shorter solo flight in my small suit, than spend most of the flights with friends strugling and feeding them massive burble/wake JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Noop...but we also grasp the full spectrum of things coming into play when you actually fly instead of applying only half the physics that come into play during nightly drunk typing rants JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Not a single pilot has experience with an airplane that varies in size/shape/form/weight so much as wingsuits. But great effort at more street-cred with unrelated subjects and skills, when the real flying experience (lots of docked formation stuff in wingsuit) mentioned is not available JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. So the independent list is 'exclusively tonysuits' how independent.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. I think unlike you, Butters actually has a lot of experience flying closeenough range and actually docking in WINGSUIT formations, and has actual experience with the much wider cone of dirty air spilling of the sides of the big suits. He doesnt need to post about his glider licence, mcdonalds coupon card and wallmart happy client card for street-cred either JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Why 'only 3 things'? Only 1 would be enough...I dont have time now. But give me a call here and here, and we'll meet up for a proper FFC. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Why do you include canopy procedures (tucking hands in front of the chest?) into the freefall training? That position, combined with the de-arch of the student makes for an incredibly unstable practice pull? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Ive had one French coach TELL the student to come to France to bypass his countries more strict rules. That to me suggest a whole other motive. Knowing USA, Holland, Belgium and Germany have 200 jump rules shouldnt be a difficult thing for French coaches to adhere to? And most do know this. In the aforementioned case, selling 30 coached 1 on 1 jumps seemed to be the instructors only incentive for knowingly pulling foreign students to France and violating their rules. Granted, a person jumping solo/without instruction can skip/bypass rules, but when it comes to instruction I like to think (hope!) we have some type of moral obligation as well to make sure people dont do stuff they shouldnt be doing. 9. Im seeing a lot of vague reasons for not teaching a wave-off, while the simple 'lets include it' takes out all those variables, and makes it more common/standard from jump 1. That aside, I do wish/hope French coaches would include more common sense regarding any foreign jumper also being bound by their own rules. A Belgian, Dutch or US jumper is still bound to his own countries rules (by which organisation they jump, and by which are insured for liability), regardless of where they are taught wingsuit. Ive seen many people 'flee' our more strict rules for first flights in favour of the French 150, or Empuria Brava's insanely low 100 jump rules. And both are at fault teaching other organisation jumpers, who have more strict rules back home. Similarly your strict rules should bind french licenced jumpers abroad to not violate their allowed flying/suit etc if you're really strict and correct about the system you use... 10. Your students have that same freedom when they visit other countries or other dzs. Ive seen a few too many 'french taught' examples of that in various countries. Better give them the basic essentials during jump #1. If they are dangerous? Good...means they get to practice even more. Nor in US nor in EU does any reputable coach let dangerous people just fly free. They receive more instruction....and a mandetory wave off on every single jump they do.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. I advise the dangerous ones to first do some more non ws jumps Jokes aside...unpredictable behaviour (to me) sounds like all the more reason to have them wave off. I see many kids here who went to France just for an FFC (due to the lower experience standard) who jump straight into flocking back home. If an AFF course can include a wave off, why would a person with 200 skydives not be able to do so? If they cant handle that stress, dont put them in a wingsuit? What if a 'stuborn' other (visiting) experienced flyer unexpectedly followed you out on one of those and you decided to pull high? What warning woulf he have before he is inspecting your main up close? Not an impossible scenario..... Wave off....ALWAYS! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. I think most students can (and should) be allowed to do 2 ways with others after an FFC. We are creating mature, aware and safe wingsuit flyers and should IMHO give them all the tools they need. The arguement 'they wil forget' also turns into 'they may never learn' if they go too long without doing a waveoff on their dozens or more solos their coach makes them do before flying with others. No better time to learn than straight from the start.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. I get 50 emails with this question about any PF video...please..read the text underneath the video on vimeo first JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. We're seeing more and more of these with 3 causes - bad technique - airplane (to fast, not level) - huge suits The last one worries me most, as those can screw up exits with good technique, good run in etc even. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. I know there was one big suit (demo from a manufacturer visiting the DZ) going against/over the tail a month or two ago in Netheravon (UK). Know more than 3 tailstrikes, just from the last few months...bruises in most cases.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Funny to see the guy bitch about flying in the deployment cone on a basejump a few weeks ago (with the basejumpers doing an actual wave-off even) yet dont think its needed on a much more unpredictable FFC JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. The wave-off is also a key signal to show altitude awareness in a student. Warning you (as the coach) that they may not be pulling in time, if the wave-off doesnt happen before. Allowing you to get in view of the student and signal them to do so. many reasons I can think of to include a wave-off in an FFC. Not a single valid one to exclude it. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. To add to that. I know of 2 incidents where the coach hit the student/canopy on an FFC and have seen countless low experience flyers throw pilotchutes without warning because their dytter told them to. Wave off.....always...no exceptions. They should have been doing it on normal skydives before they got in a wingsuit. They should continue so doing it while flying (or wearing) one. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. So they do 1 FFC with you, go to another boogie and never learn wave-off if they have bad luck of not meeting the right people? If they cant handle the stress of a wave-off, you should take them bowling. Not wingsuit flying. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Yes...100% yes. Especially as I see some people instructing who tend to fly in the deployment zone behind their students half the time. For sure something to teach them at jump #1. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. They are flown, but Birdman is no longer one of the places where you can buy them. The article lists active manufacturers selling suits. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. And remove Birdman JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Or directly but the one you can fly the rest of your wingsuit career JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Quite often I see people with even the smallest suits fly with legs bent in formations. At Zflock etc the last years Ive mostly flown one model intermediate suit, and rarely (if never) even on my back have had to fly that near 100% in any of the group jumps. With multiple suits, its often the choice 'in this one I have to arch less'. I look forward to the day where I have to upsize suit, because I cant match the forward speed/glide. The only problem I see sometimes is big suits and no forward speed (using the suits as camera suits). In all cases...more speed would be welcome...its not really a thing that demands you own 5 different suits. Although at FF and FS records, you also buy a tight FF suit if you need to go fast, and dont bring the flappy wide suit. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
