If you don't want tail flap when pushing the suit a bit, yes. The mylar is there mostly for the first subterminal moments, shaping the suit/wing before proper inflation is achieved. And in general, shapping the (leg)wing to a better (less matrass/chamber like) wing. Not to prevent flapping at max flight. The only place Mylar really benifits is backflying on suits that dont have back inflation (keeping the wing nice and tight/shaped, instead of flapping). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

backvents are the cool option to have...leadtime is around 4 weeks +- atm JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Seeing how much more surface area the XS has over the normal stealth1 Mike was flying I guess that makes it all the more impressive what he did timewise. Trying to compare distance is kinda useless as it mostly comes down to a combination of flying style, pilot skill, strength and stamina (which is sadly where I gave out halfway in, due to poor strategy/training in this endurance arena) and upper winds. Compare the scores on the top pilots in Marl last summer on their 2 tries at distance, and you see glide ratios fluctuate between 1.3 and 3.0 for the same person, and Denis matching the score of an XS in his Phantom. Guess you're not pinning the same comparison down on that one as you do above here. The time is an easy and fairly simple thing to rate. But distance on a skydive... Its all so arbitrairy, due to too many variables, that (outside of marketing quotes and trying to rate one suit over another for a sales pov.) objective comparison in this arena is (here) a bit useless and close to impossible. But that aside...hanging there for way over 5 minutes was damn long, and the view was equaly impressive. Though the 'xxx did longer in xxxx' suit may be a fun game to some, I know for Mike, myself and the others on the load the experience itself is the only thing we really care about, and what made the day! ps. Imagine being on that load, but having to take off your wingsuit on boarding because its the wrong sized suit hehehe (I felt sorry for you Kipp!) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Im at Tampa Intl. Airport now, waiting for my flight. Ill do the Altitrack and GPS data overlay this friday and slap it online. I do have Mike in frame for 70 % of the flight. Mike, shoot me your video (I can give you ftp acces, or use YouSendit) and Ill combine the two. And Im 100% sure going to be there next year, I woul love to make it a tight 2 way. Your running experience and stamina shows in your flying. Im going to put work into that one as well, as tme/distance is somthing I havent focussed on much (outside breaoff after flocking). And I too was without gloves..I had tingly fingers all day. Luckely ADHD helped out with the tired feeling afterward (pulling me through). Think I only had about 3 hours of sleep every night.. Ill be the guy in a coma on the airplane ride back to Amsterdam haha... ps. My legs still get cramps from the long jump..signs I need to practice more with weights and running I guess JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Matt Schroyer (sorry dude...dont remember your last name correctl:) Though if Hoover isnt doing a video himself, Id be more than eager to also have his footage to use/incooperate into the video! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Justin, Mat (the other one:), Scotty (and anyone else shooting AVCHD) I would like to edit a nice, big video on F&D 5.0. Shoot me a PM and Ill give zou my FTP info so you can upload any (preferably all) jumpvids you shot and Ill make it something epic! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Fooling the altitrack is just a matter of to rapid deceleration. Ive got many tracks on 10 to 15 mph (slow but steady decelerated) flares/breakoffs on the Stealth2, without a single interupted recording. Macca, even though Im not dead, dont cancel the party ;) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

p.s. My laptop died, so I wont be online that much the coming days untill its revived when Im back home. I have about 20 PMs to answer, so give me a few days to get that stuff sorted and answered! Jarno not online for a few days...most people worried..but the rumours about my death where a bit exeterated JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Thats Mikes reading on his Neptune. I dont use that one. My altitrack (buy one!!) recorded the whole dive start to end. Mike luckely also had a Wintec GPS, next to his GoProHero SD card video camera, and my CX105 sony camera. So several sources validating what we did. And if Mike mails/uploads me his clip and GPS data, I will combine them into something nerdy. And again, I think with a different suit (stealth2), that actually fit him he could have done much, much more. That man is a machine! 6 minute club here we come. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Grey Mike and I (sorta) flew together (me chasing him) and had great fun on that one. Im usually bad flying solo (time or performance) but when looking at another flyer/object etc I seem to do better. From exit I pushed it hard, and managed to get about a 1000 ft of altitude on Mike up to roughly 9000 ft or so. Then my arms gave out, and I was a mess, I just couldnt hold it anymore, but Mike (being the awesome sporting man he is) kept steadily flying and slowly but surely climbed up, up, up...the endurance on what he did was awesome! He came down with a 5:28/5:30 seconds flight, I only did 5:18 (which is a freaky thing, as its the same time for my personal best in freediving breathhold). Would love to try this one again sometime, and hit the gym a while before that so my endurance/strength is a bit better. Mike was flying a normal Stealth as he still has the best times on that suit, I was flying a Stealth2 proto. Judging the performance Im getting out of the suit distance wise at breakoff on normal jumps compared to the rest (down to 15 mph fallrates on every single jump) and hearing mike notice the same difference (esp. with regards to distance flown) after some 12k test-jumps with the Stealth2 lateron, I have no doubt in my mind that Mike would have came close or over 6 minutes had he been flying the Stealth2 in his own size. Especially if you take into account the suit was too small for Mike, and the Stealth 2 is so noticably lighter on arm pressure and easy on the pull. But I think we can set a date for next year Mike! Im game! I have video, altitrack/gps data from mike and myself, so Ill make something long and boring for the GPS nerds The rest of the day I had a hard time lifting my hands, but got a ton of jumps in afterward anyway. The boogie rocked! Awesome people! I will have a Stealth2 with me in Empuria Brava for people to try. An official announcement/pictures etc will be out soon. But you can already spot the suit in some of the pix posted earlyer.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

My commen sense is in perfect working order. The dozen or so orders Ive handled since Januari have made it to costumers within 3 weeks (phantom2/Ghost2 and others) and two V3s have made it to their owner in roughly 3 months (ordered in Januari, delivered end of March) The people waiting for their V3s at the moment, depend on several factors (size, and at which point their s/m/l size-template went into active production for the V3), and the simple matter that its one of the most detailed and costum made cuts out of all wingsuits available. And there are quite a few people who pre-ordered their suit before the first design prototype was even announced/flying. So far I know of several horror stories from every single manufacturer. People having issues with their suit (other brand) in terms of having to send it back several times due to size/production or just waiting problems. The simple truth is (robert is sitting next to me) there is a huge load of orders, exceeding the normal line-up of orders (and lead-times coupled to that). Not all dealer are aware of whats happening on a day to day basis in the factory, thus sometimes situations such as the current one can arrise. When most people placed their initial order, the quoted leadtimes where 100% accurate and honest. But at the moment, there is just a waitinglist, and the suits are being put out as fast as possible. Both on the PF and Morpheus website this will be adressed/changed soon. But to everyone his or her own oppinion and reasoning for their current situation. I know everyone is quite happy to promote their own prefered manufacturer, and happy to discredit others. Though quite obvious, some being more active against certain manufacturers than others. Simple fact of the matter is, these issues could and should just be mailed to PF directly. And you will always get an honest answer with regards to when your suit is expected to be delivered. But give it a few months and the overflow will be worked out of the system, and the V3s people ordered will be flying of the cliffs and out of airplanes. Any questions on the aforementioned subject and leadtimes will gladly be answered via email or PM. That aside, the biggest shame is this thread on some of the most impressive wingsuit flying Ive seen since Loics mountainswoop on DVD years back, had to be turned onto this subject. The DVDs are ready for sending for anyone interested in seeing, and we will have a small premiere at F&D tomorrow evening. I am proud to have been part with a small graphic portion of this production, and hope many people get to enjoy the DVD soon, without the additional drama people seem to want to insert into the subject here. All the best JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

MexPilot, after the initial release of the V3, there was a big wave of orders that has led to a slight increase in leadtime. With the production of wingsuits being spread over several facilities, most order suits in the PF line-up currently have a leadtime of +- 3 weeks or so. Once the initial batch of orders on the V3 are up and flying, those will also go back to the normal estemated 4-6 weeks. Most people that got caugh in the initial overflow seem to be waiting the around 2 months at the moment (roughly the same time you'd be waiting when you order a rig or custom canopy at other gear-manufacturer). That aside, comments on leadtimes, and problems you might have with an order you placed will always be better replied to when directly contacting the manufacturer. Back to the orginal topic, for those eager to see FlyTheLine2, we will have a nice premiere at Flock&Dock5 this coming saterday. We also hand-delivered the huge box of NTSC dvds to Morpheus Tech. for all US orders. So ordering the DVD, it will be on your doorstep within a few days. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Id get a women to do that stuff...they know their sh*t in terms of colours and matching stuff. Im always the one mis-matching shirts/pants/jackets in colour, so Im not the one to ask. For sure. Id flip a coin..if someone hates it, at least you can blame faith for the choice... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

On planes with a low tail (Cessnas) I often prefer having students do a sitting exit. This way they cant jump 'up' on exit, and also tend to be less prone to nose-dive due to putting too much force into their exit standing up. Though often students tend to shy away from this exit, and say they are more comfortable standing up, its pretty easy to do. http://www.flylikebrick.com/minishowcase/galleries/78_2007_fjc_flevo/jarno_fjc_02.jpg You sit down in the door, legs out/under the plane. Sit on one buttock, other-one outside the plane. Your lower body will be a bit twisted, but keep your upper body straight and just face the prop. Then give a slight push, just straightening your lower body, sliding off your butt is usually enough. (Its identical to staticline exits taught from most smaller cessna's without a step to stand on). Your body position should be a bit of a lazy delta. Legs on your but, slighly wide. But bent at the knees, upward. Arms also slightly spread/behind you. Dont cross em in front of you, as some people do. This means they get a sudden 'hit' from the relative wind when you open up. Arch, keep the wings behind you. Then slowly easy into your normal flying position. Even if you twist a bit on exit, just keep looking at/inside the plane, and you will keep your heading perfectly (or come back on heading if you had a bit of a twist). Due take a bit of extra care with your hackey handle, and preferably check for that one before climbing out. Its not something new, its how most student exits are taught here on staticline courses, and aside from sitting down, its the same exit you'd do standing up. Just starting out a bit lower, so less scary tail-thingies to happen if the thing is a bit to close for comfort. You can do 2 way exits this way, and even a 3d/4th person scooting out behind you is do-able. Its a bit of a gay exit, but thats why we like it Some examples can be found here http://www.flylikebrick.com/playmovie.php?id=13 http://www.flylikebrick.com/playmovie.php?id=25 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Just do a sitting student exit on solo jumps first, you're already a meter lower from the start that way.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Luc Maisin in his tight RW suit is outscoring ]Tristan in an XS in the distance competition at PPC. Ignoring winds etc of course. But (inlcuding a dive) several trackers are flying glide ratios over 1:1 in tight RW suits. Fllyyyy JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

That wasnt completely clear from your wikipedia post..hence my reply.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Same here...off to the USA in less than a week. Then Spain, Then Ukraine. Its gonna be fun! And definitions...Im flying...but anyone who wants to linger in the negative space and feel different is of course free to do so... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think its more a matter of people not being able to enjoy things in life, without having them all labeled and catagorised... glide=unpowered flight flight with an engine=powered flight So its just you getting it wrong If its a matter of simple fun bad/glide-ratio wingsuit formation flight, or Yuri-approved© wigsuit flight...who cares... neh...my mother told me I was special when I rode the bus to school with all the other special kids years ago... Its not a joke, and we are talking definitions, meanings of a word, not physics. And depending on the selective use of a quote on wikipedia, its meaning can often be severly mangled and incorrect. Browse this forum for the wonderfull history on the wingsuit wikipedia page, and user submitted content. But back to the subject of the word flight being valid/invalid in terms of describing what we do. The quotes you post name one powered flight, and the other glide thus being unpowered flight). Flight nevertheless.. What we do is 100% flight. If not by that definition, pick any of the following from the English dictionairy Definitions of the word flight: noun: a scheduled trip by plane between designated airports noun: an instance of traveling by air noun: a stairway (set of steps) between one floor or landing and the next noun: passing above and beyond ordinary bounds noun: an air force unit smaller than a squadron noun: a formation of aircraft in flight noun: a flock of flying birds noun: the act of escaping physically noun: the path followed by an object moving through space verb: shoot a bird in flight verb: fly in a flock verb: decorate with feathers name: A surname (very rare: popularity rank in the U.S.: #29010) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
