    Freefly schools

I think it means that we Americans fly like the uncoordinated savages that we are. For some people, the grass is always greener wherever THEY are. Oh, hello again!
  2. We'll be organizing all types of dives. We're there to get you guys to have some funky and fun jumps. Sit, Headdown, belly, sideways, hybrids, tracking, flocking, all that stuff. We're open to anyone! We can also do coaching if you're interested. Stop by and say hi. We'll go jump! Oh, hello again!
  3. On older Javelins (older meaning the one I owned in 2001 and before), it seemed that the flaps just didn't want to stay shut. Even new javelins last year had some flap problems. Sunpath recognized it, recut their patterns (the "K" designation) and it seems to work out much better now. But I can see how it's hard to shake the "unravelin javelin" moniker. Still it is a fantastic rig. Wings vs Infinity? Wings for sure. Both are great at building a super high quality rig for a reasonable price, but Wings stands out in a few ways for me. Comfort, I've never worn anything that felt like I wasn't wearing a rig at all. Looks, come on... the Infinity is really plain. Reserve system, our riggers like em so much they bought one. Either way, you're getting a good, safe rig. Pick the one YOU like. Oh, hello again!
  4. We'll be with the Big Air Sportz freefly tent. There are no fees of any kind for organizing, we just need to have 4 or so people and we can go rip it up! Stop by and introduce yourself and we'll go jump. See ya there! Oh, hello again!
  5. Just wanted to let everyone who's going to Rantoul that Spaceland Anomaly will be there organizing with Brian Germain for the duration of the event. There will be 3 of us and we'll not only be looking to jump with people on freefly dives, but we've really got some good hybrid action going as well. (see some of the pics at www.aerialfusion.com) We're really looking forward to meeting a ton of people at Rantoul this year, so stop by and say "whatup" if you can! By the way, we've got friends on the video staff... so if you want to be in the Rantoul 2003 video... it might be a good idea to come jump with us! See you there! Oh, hello again!
  6. NICE SHOTS PABLO!!! Way to go bro! Thanks for helping us out, hope you had fun too. Oh, hello again!

    The Hulk

The movie sucked ass. Seriously. I can't beleive any critics gave it a nod. All I could think while watching it was that movie studios OWN all the critics. I'm really surprised I didn't fall asleep or walk out and see if anyone would give me a refund. Oh, hello again!
  8. Any word on how their opening weekend went? I know a lot of Austin-ites sucked up their UT pride and went to Aggieland for SummerJam, and I know that Spaceland was crankin. What did wharton do? Oh, hello again!

    BIG Hybrid pics

heh heh I'm docking on my dad!
  10. I'm pretty not-so-surprised when I read this thread. A lot of the people who don't want regulation seem to have, what I would think, are pretty high wingloadings for their jump numbers. Interesting, I wonder why that is? I'll agree that HAVING to regulate something isn't always the best answer, but you have to look at the reason regulation is being discussed. It's because way too many people are getting overly-aggressive with their downsizing. Maybe they hook in trying to use their risers at 150 jumps, or maybe they femur on a low turn they initiate to avoid someone else. Either way, I don't see why people are opposed to spending more time on larger canopies. If everyone was intelligent enough to know that they could learn a ton from their larger canopy before downsizing... we wouldn't be having this conversation. Unfortunately, we have plenty of "experts" who are only after the smallest canopy or rig on the DZ so they look like a badass. These are also the people that you cannot give advice or instruction to after they have a hundred jumps or so. So for people like this, having a regulation would end any argument about the whole situation. For people who are smart enough to know that they don't know it all... this may be a little bit of a hoop to jump through, but they might actually see point in the whole thing. To people downsizing quickly: Why? Are you just a canopy prodigy that knows better? Do you think that reading about canopy flight and talking about it is a equal substitute for experience? Be careful and be smart. Please. Oh, hello again!
  11. I find that PD wouldn't take care of that problem very hard to believe. Either your story is lacking some kind of important details, or your friend called the wrong number. PD has an entire section on their factory floor devoted to maintenace and repair, it wouldn't take them a day of labor to get that fixed. Our rigger hadn't ever jumped a Velocity and just bought one. He thought it danced a little too much on opening so he called PD. They sent him a demo to use while they test jumped his canopy and made any necessary changes at no cost. That doesn't sound like a company that would outright deny a repair or investigation for a canopy that someone just bought. Oh, hello again!
  12. I can tell you why my team doesn't have the higher licenses. Money and utility. It costs money to get them done, it costs money to fly somewhere where someone can do the actual AD test. Having an AD license really doesn't matter anymore to do what a lot of people are doing. Sure, it's a great challenge to earn those licenses, but in our opinion, not really worth it. Not to mention, a lot of places won't let you jump a ball anymore... let alone 2. We all did get our A's though, from Mike Swanson. It seems it's a good credential to have if you're gonna do coaching or anything and at the time, we had some cash left over from Nationals. Oh, hello again!
  13. After days of waiting, here are the results of the latest Spaceland Freefly League meet: 1st Place: Hoop & Jen: 21 total points 2nd Place: Krista & Cassie: 20.6 total points 3rd Place: Matt & Rodney: 19.8 total points The rest of the standings were as follows in order: Meg&Justin and Meg&Rodney tied for 4th, Dre&Rob, Lea&Corey, Aerodeo Thanks to everyone, and DON'T FORGET: The final competition is JUNE 26-29 here at Spaceland. The race for 1st is VERY tight, don't slack off now! Just a hint: The teams who are taking 1st place in the individual meets seem to be doing a handful of practice jumps... hmmmm.... practice. Oh, hello again!
  14. We usually put a few loads up at Spaceland. It's only getting busier. No weather guarantees though. Oh, hello again!

    track dive

What's up Kevin! Tracking dives can be tricky, but just like any other dives... the people have to watch the count on their own. I usually give a little thumbs up check to the people in the plane, then to the guy on the back of the camera step to make sure everyones set. The count and go. People will realize they missed the count when no one's around anymore! With us, it's better to leave late since very few people can float up to a tracking dive that's got a vertical speed in the 90's. We always let the less experienced people stay high and give themselves a little room for the float factor. And yeah, we've got a couple of people here who want to compete but need a third. Let me know and I'll put you in touch with them before you move. Later, Trent Oh, hello again!
  16. I think I can tell the difference between a CG person and the actor, especially when it's as poorly done as Reloaded. Just a few examples: Agent jumping on the hood of the car, Neo fighting multiple Smiths when he gets to doing the impossible stuff, some of the flying scenes, and there's more... but I was falling in and out of sleep so I can't remember. I think they just got too ambitious with the CG, and it looked it. They coulda just made the whole movie CG and not paid any actors. Maybe? Oh, hello again!
  17. Am I the only one that thought this movie was kinda cheap?? It basically seemed like a 15 minute story stretched into 2 hours and 20 minutes so that we'd (and we all will) pay to see the next one too. The special effects were a lot less well-done than in the first one. It seems they decided it'd be cheaper to use CG for all the bullet time stuff, and it really showed. I can't even count how many times that I realized that I was looking at a cartoon version of the character... very not slick use of CG. There was a ton of "filler" scenes in there, in my opinion. Felt like I paid $8 to watch a commercial for the last episode. Oh well, sequels are rarely what the first one was... and Reloaded is no exception. Oh, hello again!

  19. Thank YOU for coming out! It was actually great that we had a nice small group to work with... I think we all got the most out of it. Everyone definitely looked better by the end of the day. See you guys again soon I hope! Oh, and don't worry about Shannon. I'm bringing a straight jacket. Oh, hello again!
  20. We've already got a solid crew of 9 guys out here to work on our skillz. You're all missed if you're not here, there's no special fees... you only have something to learn! See you if we see you... if not... your loss!! :) Oh, hello again!
  21. Somewhere I've got video of you jokers flying with bloodsoaked snotrags in your nose. Ahhh, Tahoe. Oh, hello again!
  22. What's a good filesharing client? Kazaalite? Audiognome? What? I've been out of the loop since Napster died. Any recommendations that don't cram your computer with spyware and other crap? Thanks. Oh, hello again!
  23. Or, even easier and less things to think about. Put your hands on your hips. This will help you get used to legs without trying to jam your arms out for stability. Really work the legs to try to get a normal freefly fallrate too. That way you'll know you don't need hands or arms to fly and you can use them for docking or picking your nose. That's how I practice! Oh, hello again!
  24. Hmmm... I think the best release system for a "sit tube" is your hand. Usually you just sit while holding the handle on the tube. If anything gets squirrely, let it go. Simple. If you're putting it on your feet, you'll need a releas system. They're routed like skysurf releases; down the leg and to a little release mechanism (i've seen 2 rings on tubes). Be careful dumping with that thing... they scare me. Oh, hello again!
  25. Just a reminder that Spaceland Anomaly will be hosting a bigway skills weekend at Spaceland THIS WEEK. We start Friday with small groups and some ball jumps. Saturday, we'll move into some definite base-stinger formations. If all is going well, we'll have some nice points to turn. This is a great opportunity for everyone to brush up on bigways skills and an ESPECIALLY good chance for the ladies interested in the Women's World Record event to work on their formation flying. Everyone is welcome, we will have organizing for sitflyers and lower-experience freefliers. See you there? Oh, hello again!
