  1. Since we're giving out medical advice...............take a B multivitamin instead of aspirin. It takes vitamin B and water to get alcohol out of your system. Brewer's yeast is a good source of B vitamin believe it or not. Unfortunately, most mass produced beers filter the yeast out. You can come try some of my unfiltered homebrew if you like! It is a meal! But no hangover! Also, hefeweizen's still have the yeast in them.
  2. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  3. I am not belittling anyone elses sacrifices. There are alot of people who have noble professions besides the military and I respect them for it. We should honor these people more also. I didn't mention anything about 'recognition'. What they need is respect and appreciation. My father and grandfather were police officers and my mother and sisters are teachers and their jobs are hard and deserve respect, but it doesn't compare to the military. Believe me. This thought process works until you look back and the only people in the military are criminals and derelicts who can't get a job anywhere else. Then we have a problem. You don't have to honor these people if you don't want to, It's a free country. But, don't take them for granted. They do what they do because they love it not because they want money or fame. The least we can do, the ones benefiting from their service, is show them respect and thank them for the sacrifices they are making.
  4. Crap. Do it at night with 100 lbs of equipment and we'll give you your US airborne wings!
  5. I think one big thing you have to remember about the humane treatment of our enemies is that our soldiers have to live the rest of their life dealing with what they did during war. If the military leaders (I was an Army Infantry Officer) allow soldiers to commit atrocities in the heat of the moment or as a matter of standard procedure then they are doing the US soldiers a grave disservice. Combat is hard enough to live with afterwards in the best of circumstances. Can you imagine having to live with the fact that you killed innocent women, children, and men on purpose? Or even unnecessarily torturing or causing undue suffering to noninnocent combatants. If it can't be avoided then that is just war. You know 'war is hell' and all. I don't think I could live with myself if I did it or allowed it to happen. This is in addition to the factors already stated, but was one of my major concerns as a company commander and platoon leader.
  6. I would think so. I did all kinds of unintentional freeflying in student gear!
  7. Did some hiking and camping there in 1996. It is a very nice and scenic place. They have about 2-3 trails ranging in length from 4 miles to about 20 or so. It is worth going to. I don't know about the 4x4 trails though. I don't remember there being any when I visited.
  8. I agree. We didn't do the right thing in that situation. Too many influential politicians sympathetic to the IRA.

    ouch...

Glad you made it down OK. Nothing scares me worse than turbulance under canopy!
  10. I'm not really sure where this came from. I was responding to Iflyme's comments on the US attacking a poor, defenseless country. I don't know what Daniel Pearle was making but I'll guarantee it was more than our soldiers are making. And let's not even talk about Geraldo Rivera's salary........among others.
  11. Yeah, we want to see both sets of twins!!!!
  12. Right on man! I can tell you're an editor 'cause you used sum a' dem real big words. Agree completely.

  14. Sounds Great!!! I love London! Best beer in the world IMO. ummm...........you need me to send you one of them 'spy cam' order forms? I'll chip in.
  15. I was in the Army for 9 years and just got out a year ago. One thing that really surprises me is how little the civilian community understands what the military does and how much their families sacrifice. I get paid considerably more, work less hours, and spend no time away from home in my current job as compared to when I was in the military. Yet my coworkers think they are overworked, underpayed, and deserve better. My point? Most of the US just does not understand what sacrifices members of the military make in their day to day lives. This leads to a lack of sympathy and compassion for the American soldier. Whose fault is this? The military's for not addressing the issue and the media's for their constant badgering and ridiculing of everything the military does. IMHO, the military needs to take a more active role in the public relations side of this.
  16. So......what you are trying to say is that for it to be a 'war/ the two combatants must be evenly matched? Sorry but we're not going to sacrifice our soldiers just so your sense of 'right' and 'wrong' can be satisfied. This 'poor, poverty ridden' country contributed to the death of almost 3,000 Innocent civilians. DO NOT try to compare the bravery of a war time journalist making $100,000 to $200,000 a year or more to a soldier making $20,000 to $30,000 a year. Journalists sign up in hopes of making a big name for themselves. They do this not by reporting what is going on but by breaking some supposed 'scandal' or 'mistake' made by the people actually in the ring and doing the work. They have turned into a group of high paid critics. Here is a little quote from Theodore Roosevelt that sums it up quite well:
  17. IMHO. I agree as long as their goal is to keep us informed. I have observed a bias or agenda behind way too many journalists to not be cynical about this. One trait of a true profession is that they police their own ranks. If journalists want to regain the respect they had before 'Watergate' they might want to look into this.
  18. masticates.......hmmm? ..............................................................aha!! I don't get it? You would rather that they didn't chew their food?
  19. Hear Hear......or Here Here....anyway, I agree.
  20. Yeah, it's much better to lock them up, give them a bed, three square meals, and let them lift weights and play sports all day. That would suck!
