i was told pp 1.5 didn't have hd support...although i have not been able to try anything i dont have all my new toys around...but if it does, then i guess this thread is useless

as i am about to start jumping my new high def setup, i was wondering what programs are recommended for editing....i currently use an old version of adobe priemere, but of course it doesn't work with high def (so i've been told)....just wondering what programs do, and how they compare to premiere 1.5 (which is what i have)

why are professional PHOTOGraphers excluded from a video contest? i make my living off still images, but suck at making videos.. why should i be excluded because i know how to use a camera? You should not be. That was never the intention. I suspect that double exclusion slipped in because these rules were adapted from a previous photography competition. I will amend that to exclude only professional videographers. does this mean people who get paid to jump video, or people who actually make their main income from video?? i think i read it in the rules somewhere, but i'm not 100% sure

No Postage Necessary if Mailed in the United States

we had a sponsor back out of one of our events and f@ck us outta jersey's for out nationa paintball team, so we attached to one of their buisness reply envolope a cinderblock....cost them about 45 bucks to mail -
i say once you do your lvl 1 aff....anyone can do a tandem, but to depend mainly on yourself (you have to deal with a mal if it occurs) is completely different...you may have instructors with you for the freefall, but once you pull, your life is in your hands, and then you are a skydiver...

being a cheesehead myself i'm sure my opinion is biased, but i do believe he was better than montana (and yes, the 49ers are my 2nds fav. team). I say this because of the records he holds....most consecutive games played, most td's, all that stuff....no he doesn't have 4 rings, but look at the team he had to work with...i remember the "glory years" of don makowski....which is sad....i simply think farve did a LOT with a weaker team behind him...not to bash my beloved pack in any way. but yea, it will be sad to see him go...but then again, his backups have done pretty well with other teams, and rogers looked pretty promising from what little i have seen of him.

Looking for malfunction, student videos
Iceburner replied to Mike8684's topic in Photography and Video
my dropzone used this video (or one exactly like it) and it helped me a lot...and when i had my first mal (baglock) i knew it right away...of course...and that was 552 jumps after watching the video...seeing them on tv helps a lot to know what you are dealing with. i STRONGLY recoommend the video named above, it's worth it's money -
so i finally got my hc 5 but have been waiting on the helmet....so i figured i'd ask while i'm waiting.... from those of you that jump or have jumped a hc 5 sidemounted (i'm getting a FF3) what problems/differences have you noticed from a past setup....i use an optick illusion now with a pc109 sidemounted....so i'm guessing the weighting will be noticable, but yea...anything you all can offer i'd like to hear. PM or reply to this.

not to mention how great getting all your gear wet before a jump is

here's another one that sticks out in my mind...after a long night of party'n, i wake up under my bed clutching a garbage can....with a pile of puke right beside it... man, i have quite a few of these stories....i think i'm gonna stop before i ruin my image....although i do remember one where i woke up with 2 girls in the bed, had to take some pics to prove it....that one had to be a great night
-
and then there was the other time at my dz in VA where i decided to try to drive to another airport for a demo i had the next morning...i got about a mile and decided to quit cuz even i knew i shouldn't be driving, so i pulled over, and passed out. woke up in jail...supposidly for being drunk in public....still dont remember if i was ever in public i think skydiving has turned me into an alcoholic
-
um, there was this time where someone found me in the dz parking lot passed out behind my jeep, and they found me by stepping on me.... or, just last weekend waking up first time underneath some stairs, then next time i wake up i'm in the bunk room at the dz, and it's 1100 the next morning...no clue when i got there, how i got there, or what happened from about 930 that night till 1100 the next morning....but i think it mighta been fun

i use a mixing board at the dz, but prefer to use my computer when possible (on slow days). I have an alienware computer (good for gaming and videos) but it's a bit more high end than you'd proly need. I use adobe premiere to edit my videos, it's simple to use if you are just starting off, and after you get good at it, you can make some really sweet stuff. However, it does take a lil more time to convert the movie onces you are done editing it (like 5-10 mins depending on what you are doing with the movie, and depending on how good a computer you got). Then burn time takes about another 10 mins depending on your prgm for that and your computer speed (i use nero to burn the dvd's). All n all, it really depends on the money you want to spend...you can get a powerful machine, and it'd go quickly, or you can get a decent machine, spend a few more mins burning and still get a good product. I prefer to use my comp over a linear editing program becasue you can do more with the movies.

i heard they were with the 7 and not the 5....anyone jumpping the 5 that has a problem i'm welcome to advice, as i dont wanna get rid of a good setup that works just to get a somewhat decent hd camera
-
thanks for the replys, i'm thinking of getting the hc 5...just gotta save some penny's from my next weekend of work....and maybe find a buyer for my current setup...so if anyone is lookin for an optick illusion with a pc109, hit me up
-
now i'm sure i'll get the typical "use the search button" response that i've posted as well before, but i'll let you all know i've read a lot of the threads, most of them 4-5 months old. anyways, i'm looking into getting a high def camera to replace my pc109. I've read good things on the hc 3 and the hc 5. Any other models out there that people use, or are these the best 2 options

i have a fantom drive 500gb and haven't had a problem with it yet. Only thing it gets negitive reviews on is the led on the front is bright...but nothing a piece of tape can't dull down. Silent, fast, and affordable. I've heard they take the WD drives, put them in a diff case, and sell them cheaper, so i opened mine up, and sure enough, it has the WD logo on it

So i got a couple letters the other day and noticed the lower left corner was torn off...of both letters...not a huge tear, but enough to raise my suspicion. Today i see the mailman about to put 2 letters in my box, he picks em up, looks in the corner, then puts them in the box. I thought that was a lil strange so i look at my roomates envelopes...and sure enough, the lower left corner is torn on both of those too. So i go to the post office and file a report and an "investigation" is underway...whatever. I just figured i'd remind all of you that during the holiday times, dont send money in the mail, people are dirtbags

doing a mr. bill, and getting wrapped in my pilot chute...i managed to catch the bridel before it pulled the pin, and i managed to untangle it from the other jumpers ankle gave him the code word to let go (an "OH FUCK fuck fuck") and he lets go, i release the bridal and tuck my arms (can only think of the base jumpers that went in getting tangled in their bridel), then relize im still on my back as my d-bag hits my leg somehow, i got out of it with only about 15 line twists at 7K. landed, had a beer, and relaxed

go figure, i finally have a 4 day weekend coming up, planned a trip to dallas (only 3 hours away), and it's supposed to be cold n rain. Hope the weather men are wrong like normal
-
sorry i can't answer your specific question, but what i do is just put the camera on standby...main reason is turning it on n off all the time seems hard on the hardware....turning it off for the plane ride, after interview in plane, landing, etc...about 3-4 startups per jump....it adds up. i think if you just leave it on standby, problem is "solved" and you can keep on shooting vids. I have the 109 as well by the way.

does this count as a verbal/written contract...if so, i'll pm you my mailing address
