    How???

being a load organizer and coach helps but i'm not sure i can do a 1000 in a year even though that is my goal for next year. i made 65 in july and 73 in august but only 48 in september and only 19 last month because of weather. if the weather is great for the rest of the year then i think at best i can make 50-60 both november and december. so i've come to the conclusion that you either have to work at a dz full time 7 days a week or live on one in order to make a 1000 jumps a year. levin vSCS#3
  4. QuoteToo bad for you Levin the entire event is head up flying Quote actually belive it or not but i can sit now. in 11 jumps i went from barely bein able to hold it to being able to dive to a group in stand. i can maintain levels pretty good. my proximity is still limited to the general vicinity. can't maintain my slot cuz i have a natural tendency to backslide so i have to concentrate on countering it which results in a constant movement usually going forward. not sure i could hold a stable sit yet if someone came up and shook me. my goal is to have it down pretty good by the end of the year but it's kinda hard since i don't get many chances to go out and practice it. levin vSCR#17
  5. ask aggiedave. he ask me earlier this year but i am only takin 11 hrs and the minimum is 12. otherwise i'd love to go. levin vSCS#3
  6. skydive houston tries hard not to let there sunset loads take off too late. better to get there as early as you can. you are actually more like 30-40 minutes away depending on traffic. a little longer if during rush hour. since we just rolled the clocks back it will now be getting dark at 6 pm. and 5:30 pm in a month. don't foget to leave yourself time to fill out a waiver and get your gear checked. levin vSCS#3
  7. it's okay ann. i didn't mind remember, i also have a sense of humor. now you know i wouldn't ever do that http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=107104;search_string=feal%20my%20boobies;#107104 levin vSCS#3
  8. i might have to arch a bit but i'm sure i can keep up here's something that helped me alot. on a solo while your back tracking watch the horizon in which your headed as if your headdown. in addition to giving me a headding it helped me relax since the visual looked more familiar than looking down my feet. and looking at the horizon took my mind off of trying to make visual corrections to my body position so i was able to get a better feel of what i was doing. the natural arch that looking at the horizon gives you might give you a good idea of the kind of arch you may need while backtracking. levin vSCS#3
  9. i started hunting with my dad and uncle when i was about 7 yrs old. until 2 yrs ago i use to hunt every year. during the winter i split my time between hunting and skydiving. i got tired of guns and took up archery. it's definetly more challenging and requires much more currency. levin vSCS#3
  10. skydive houston is about a 50/50 mix of freeflyers and rw. i guess the #1 discipline would depend on who all showed up any given weekend. the crew jumpers come in a solid 3rd. (i'm planning on trying it one of these days. as soon as i build up the nerve) skydive spaceland does a lot of tandems. the rw scene is huge. lots of teams. home dz to duegello. compared to number of jumpers the freefly scene is kinda small but some of them have some serious talent. levin vSCR#17, vSCS#3

    Freefly suits

get a firefly suit. i have almost 700 jumps on mine and i've washed it in the washing machine about 50 times. holding up great. hardly faded a bit. and they have the best customer service in their industry. http://www.fireflysuits.com/ 310-808-9136 levin vSCS#3
  12. come back to texas sometime and i'll track with ya. 77mph on the pro-track the last time i tracked with one. levin vSCS#3

  15. i've read most of the books on that last almost in that order. haven't read the black house or hearts in atlantis. i think i'll read black house next. insomnia also ties in to the dark tower story a little bit. i think if you would have included it in that list it would have probably been in black. levin vSCS#3
  16. i think i have read this one. was the king poisened and his eldest good son framed for the crime and locked in a tower while his worthless younger son became king? i use to read alot of his stuff but i haven't really read any books in the past couple or 3 years. levin vSCR#17
  17. i'll have to check that one out. but i would probably need to brush up on the talisman since it was the first book i ever read. i started to re-read it not to long ago but then i saw the forth book in the gunslinger series and started reading that one instead. levin vSCS#3
  18. how about the gunslinger series by stephen king. i think it's 4 books complete so far and he's still writing them. alot of his other books such as the talisman and insomnia tie into it. levin vSCS#3
  19. and probably much less tempting to take. not a bad idea. levin vSCS#3
  20. i'll post this stuff as soon as i find out. i hope the video guys wrote their serial numbers down. some people are bad about not doing that. until about one minute ago i didn't even have mine wrote down. levin vSCR#17
  21. i have no idea who it could of been. i haven't been there long enough to form a conclusion about anybody. i'm also a slightly overtrusting person myself. it could have been anyone. a student, local jumper, somebody from another dropzone. only thing i'm pretty sure about is that it is another jumper. levin vSCS#3
  22. i've heard of people swiping personal items from other jumpers before, but this is outrageous. i'm going off of 2nd hand information so i don't know all the details, tuesday night somebody broke into manifest, gear-store and the video room at skydive houston. they took the staff's cameras, pro-tracks and altimeters from the gear-store and the cash from manifest. please keep an eye out for anybody that may be selling a bulk of these items. i'm not sure what or how many camera's were stolen. two of them may be a new pc101 and a sony digital high-8. wish i had more information to give. levin vSCS#3
  23. man does that bring back some bad childhood memories. only thing that was ever worse than tab was diet tab. mr grand dad was diabetic and that's all he kept in the fridge. after living with all these diabetics all these years i've become accustomed to my first choice, diet coke. my second choice would be water. levin vSCS#3

i knew what you meant. i was just dodging the question that is exactly what i did but with headdown flying. i have about 900 headdown jumps in a row over the past three years. maybe 50-60 jumps mixed in there that are either hop n pops, belly dives or bird-man jumps. i know a few others that have taken this same approach with headup and headdown. i feel like i can move around in the air with the ease of a humming bird. however i have just recently began to learn to sit (i did about 50 jumps when i first started freeflying, but that was almost 4 yrs ago). i think my proficiency flying on my head is making learning to sitfly much easier than when i first started freeflying but fact is i can't do it all that well at the moment. but i expect to have it down pretty good in a few months. most of the other area jumpers that have the same number of freefly jumps and learned both body positions fly almost or just as well as i do on their heads. some even better. and unlike me they can sit fly very well. i'm not sure underskilled is a good question but in answer to it i would say yes the approach you suggest (which is the one i took) would make you slightly underskilled when compared to a similar jumper who learned both body positions in the same time frame. you would be slightly overskilled in one area but way underskilled in all the other areas. and in answer to your question about whether i can stand with a ball, i don't know. i think i could if i flew up to it headdown and then transitioned to a stand. it would definetly be more of a work jump versus a relaxed jump on my head. but since i am always ballmaster i can't risk loosing the ball by taking a chance to find out. levin vSCS#3
