I'm not giving multiple choices here because I want to know your primary intentions when you go to a skydiving boogie. Do you go with intent to do more skydiving or partying? Just curious. I personally go to skydive. That is my primary reason to travel great distances. I can drink anywhere. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Does freefly experience REALLY translate into RW skill?

Your 4-way skills will not be the same, but IMO, freeflying helped me with my RW skills, as far as recovery from funnels and exiting in an awkward position. For me, its all about my center point and being able to fly and dock in any position. I believe it has worked for me, but it may not work for everyone. So the reserve when over the wing? The wing is above the person's head, so I'm trying to figure this out. ( I heard that story too when I got to the dz and I volunteered to take the crotch position. I would think falling backwards would be a more likely senario. When jumped the Beaver doing 8-way always had 2 people on the other side of the strut doing high wheel and low wheel. When I jumped at a dz that had a cessna with a strut, I preferred the crotch position. When I moved to a new dz with a cessna I always volunteered for that slot. Everyone asked me aren't you scared that your reserve is going to fire into the prop and rip your head off? I said no. At that point in time I had never heard it was a problem. A simple pin check before exiting will lower the probabilty of a pre-mature opening on the strut. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I believe it is our responsibility if they are falsely claiming anything or misleading people. We are supposed to be self -policing aren't we. But more importantly, is the dz in question a group member dz? If so, a complaint should be filed with the USPA and if the USPA BOD had some "balls" (no offense Gary, I know it will take the whole village here), they would implement some ethical requirements to be a Group Member dropzone. I have seen advertisements for a dz, that states they are a USPA certified dropzone, or the USPA certified dropzone for your area. When did the USPA start "certifying dz's" and designated a dz for a certain area. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

What exactly is SKYGOD bullshit. What skygod bullshit have you experienced before. You may be getting bullshit if you show up with a chip on your shoulder not willing to take any bullshit. Maybe what you conceive as skygood bullshit is actually constructive criticism. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly enough people out there that think they are skygods and better than the rest than there are those that are better than the rest and you can really learn alot from them if you listen. Like Ron said, it sucks, but also its reality. I had encountered it many many times and it seemed like the bar is raised all the time and you can't catch up. Well, I'm hear to tell you, you can, but making an average of less than 50 jumps per year over 7 years isn't going to get you there very fast. Currency is a big big deal. If these up jumpers see you out there all the time, "putting your time in", they are more likely to ask you to jump. Also, you made a comment about you were once an asshole, well, I hate to tell ya, first impressions mean alot. Don't give up, keep jumping and you WILL get on a one of the "good" loads. First off Scott, you live the the USA and California, the lawsuit capital of the world, it has nothing to do with thick skin and especially if its the person's first jump than extra professionalism needs to be displayed.. There have been TM's in the past that DO touch inappropriately and are gross and rude about it and they need to be fired and ratings pulled. I had no problem when I did my AFF having my JM touch my thighs, chest strap, whatever. Not wanting to be touched inappropriately or talked to inappropriately by someone you just met for the first time and are paying does not make a girl psyco, a guy maybe, but not a girl. Michele - The heat index today is only 110 here in Memphis. Nashville is only 3 hours away.
