[Well, that might work except for one problem - we don't have any hydrogen. Sure we do, It's just in the form of Bombs!!!

Slink 2, I think you have said enough, or maybe you have had enough!

Thanks for the input. I called the manufacturer and found out exactly where the points of measurements were to be taken from. The hardest thing was trying to determine the point on the body by looking at the little drawing on the order form. The other good thing was that I managed to find the measurements that were taken from the purchase of my first rig, which by the way was done by a rigger. Had my wife measure me and compared. Everything came out the same! Well, except for the waist, and no, it didn't get smaller I'm sad to report. So I put in the order for my new wings this morning! Can't wait to get it and sell my reflex.

Got a question. How critical are the measurements you take for a new harness? I'm only talking maybe an inch or so. Is there a little margin of error?
-
Not a question, but did you ever run into these people that always knew someone that does it? I've heard some off the wall shit, like: "My friend did it 10 times and is like an instructor now" Sure okay!

How many people out there are looking on this site that are at work right now like I am?

Why don't you give Roy at rigs&things down in Florida, or go to his web site www.para-service.com. You can get a complete brand new system for that price and have it custom made and colors too. My brother bought a complete rig last year for 3500. Came with a Wings container, Triathlon main, Tempo reserve and a Cypress! I'm going to order a wings container from him in the next day or two, as soon as I can figure out what colors I want. Good luck and shop around!

I will most likely get the articulate harness, Now I'm undecided about large rings or small. I do know that I want type 8 risers. I weigh 195 without gear and fear the 17's won't hold my fat ass. I know it's not true but with me it's a psychological thing. Now comes, stainless or non stainless, stainless standard or deluxe. It's worse than buying a car! One other thing to mention is that a guy on my drop zone keeps trying to push me to javelin. I know it's a damn good rig, but pricey and now there is a 16 week delivery time! I know the inventor of wings used to own javelin or something like that.

Going to order a new wings container, What's a better choice for the boc pouch? Spandex or cordura? Also, any comments on articulated harness versus standard?

I asked the same question when I was trying to decide which canopy to get. 9 or 7 cell. I have about a 220 pound exit weight. I bought a triathlon 210. It is an awesome canopy.! If you are used to those big cloud types(280sf or close to that) The tri will then amaze you. It flies very nice and won't intimidate you. 9 cells they say have a better glide but as far as I'm concerned it flies just as nice as the other 9 cells for your exprience level. Plus, if you hold in deep brakes it just sinks straight down! Which is a good thing if you happen to land off the dz and landing area is smaller! Just my opinion, but I don't think you would be dissapointed in a tri!

Mirage F-1: Iraq operates about 50 of these French built interceptors – a modern and extremely capable aircraft Mirage F-1. He may have them but remember, they are French built. It would probably have a compelling urge to turn 180 degrees and fly like hell away from it's enemy!, or throw up it's wings to surrender! It doesn't matter what kind of birds he has, If his half assed pilots don't have the skill, they will just be shot out of the sky! If I went and bought a PD Velocity or Icarus Extreme with only 70+ jumps. Would that make me the best swooper in the sport? I highly doubt it. It would be suicide. The same for his pilots if the go up against our Fly boys. When I was in the USMC for the first time out in 91. The news made the republican guard out to be seasoned battle hardened vets! Against who? That's right 9 year old Iranian kids! And what happened? They tucked tail and ran!!! I hope for the guys over there sake that nothing happens, but that would be like living in fantasy land.

Would you jump (and land!) a round?
btvr replied to eddytheeagle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've always wondered what it would be like to jump a round chute. I made my first jump in 1984 at the tampa bay parachute ranch. (anybody know what became of that dropzone, it's not there anymore.) They had just switched to ram airs from rounds before I jumped there, I was 17. As slink wrote, My dad was a paratrooper with the 504th PIR, 82nd Airborne Div. 1961-63. Looking at the old pictures in the album is what got me to want to try it. So many chutes in the air! looked like someone just blotted ink all over a picture of the sky. My dad made a tandem back in 1998, 35 years since his Airborne jump days. He enjoyed it but did not want to pursue the sport. He took up skiing instead. Just broke his shoulder last saturday! Should have went with sky diving! But I would love to jump a round if only once to see what it would be like. My dad says the ram airs are whimp canopies! I said, well I've never jumped a round, but try and not flare a ram air, Then make an assessment! He just loves to be a ball buster! -
. In Atlanta I was singled out for a security check, I thought "oh great". You were singled out? Funny, I know you and you don't appear to be an Arab!

Pulled out of an upside down flat spin? That's the pilot I want flying the jump ship I'm in!!! Oh wait a second, I do jump with that pilot at CSS!!!

When I was looking into buying a Reflex, I asked a rigger what he thought of them. He then advised me that it was a good rig but had one flaw and that was that the pop top sometimes came a little loose a few days after the re pack. I bought it, the 1999 millenium deal. It was well worth it. Re pack before last it was a little loose. But not bad at all. I was all geared up and ready to go on a load with a 5 minute call and asked the rigger if it was ok. He told me to lay down and tightened it while I was wearing it! It stayed that way the rest of the re pack term. Next re pack it was nice and tight. I think the more a rigger gets familiar with the rig, the pop top gets to be less of an issue. The reflex is a nice and comfortable rig with full bridle protection and the riser tuck tabs are awesome. They never come un done. You don't see too many reflexes at my home Dz. I was told that reflexes are more common on the west coast I'm on the east coast. But no matter where you are it is a good rig! Good luck in your decision!

I have read a lot of reviews about how great the Wings container's riser covers stay closed. My brother has a new wings container(very nice rig) but I was constantly tucking the tabs back in for him on just about every jump. Does anyone have an idea as to why this is a problem on his rig? Like I said, I haven't seen any complaints about this on other wings. I'm thinking of replacing my reflex with a new wings. It is a sharp looking rig!

I just got a new jump suit, but no directions on how it should be washed. The suit is made out of polycotton and spandex with grips. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hey everyone, I'm so psyched. Today I sent in for my "A" license! All I needed was to jump a rig that I packed to get signed off on packing. I did, It opened nice and easy and on heading. What an awesome feeling!!!
