I just found out today that CSS closed. Although I'm not out there every weekend, it was very convenient since I only live 19 miles away. At least there still may be hope! After I found out I thought of selling my rig and leaving the sport. Not into driving 2 hours or so. Let's get this new DZ going!!

The wackos get what they deserve. Who gives a shit if they go broke. I sure as hell don't. They should have thought of that before hand. Now being a former Marine, I guess I have strong feelings for a Marine brother who died in service of his country and to have his dignity taken away by these nut bars. If I were the family... I would make sure that group got its just desserts in other ways! Stupid people think that their way is the right way and God's way. Well I guess God didn't see it that way, since they didn't get any help from him in the decision. I would think it is only a matter of time before this group pisses off the wrong people. I will be glad to hear it if/when it does happen. Why aren't they protesting the Govt? That Marine doesn't decide when and where or whom to fight. Talk about mental morons!! Thanks for letting my vent... Feel much better now

Arizona is that way as well. I wish it that way all over. Never saw the purpose of it anyway. You still get the same amount of daylight in a day no matter what the time is that the sun rises and sets.

That is true, no one gets out alive!

The Republicans spend more money than the Democrates. The only difference is that the Replubicans put the money into their imperialistic military industrial complex while the Democrates promise to spend it socially (and yes we know they can't keep all their promises). Quite frankly, I would say both of your political choices stink. HereHere!! I agree with you on that one. I was a registered republican but now have opted for independent!

No. It was the dinosaurs with their car emissions that led to their extinction!

Don't you just love extreme religion? It would be nice if the bible thumpers practiced what they preached. Self rightous assholes. (just this group, not all relgions)

I personaly get the feeling that was much more the intentions of the originals framers. I also think that argument holds abolutely no water in today's environment. Why? The Russians couldn't beat the Afgans just like we had trouble with the Viet cong. Look at Iraq now. Plus in a situation where the shit really were to hit the fan, do you think our soldiers would kill their own family. Prior to the South secession from the Union. About half of our military officers left and went to their home in the south as well as the soldiers. Now that I know is a bit far fetched but it happened once! The individuals with their firearms who band together are a formidable enemy.

GOOD POINT!

The reason that these babies and accidents happen is due to the morons that do not use common sense! It's a safety issue. Just like people who don't check their skydiving gear and suffer for it. If guns are to be in a house where children are.. They should never be loaded and locked in a gun safe. My guns are never loaded until I get to the range and ready to shoot. At home, they are locked in a gun safe and the ammunition is also locked in a separate location of the house. Believe it or not... Law abiding gun owners hate to hear about those accidental shootings just as much if not more as gun controllers because we are the ones who have to defend our position when public outcry gets so bad. Too bad there wasn't a way to test someone's common sense before hand. If someone fails, tell them: "Sorry dude... you failed the test and are a moron. Therefore we can't let you have a gun." They should do that for cars too!
-
I don't think convicted criminals or the mentally unbalanced should have guns. I suppose that makes me a "gun controller". I am a gun owner, I don't believe in gun control because there is so many already on the books and just about none of them really work. This new one by Arnold is just another worthless attemp that will fail like the others. The only one's that hold any water are the back ground checks which I have no problems with. I have to agree with kallend on this one. Criminals and Wackos don't or shouldn't have them.
-
Well hell... Why don't we just ban cars and parchutes for all the accidental deaths caused by them? See how silly that sounds?

I also recommend Scott Miller's canopy course. I did it last month it it was awesome! You learn a lot and have fun doing it. Now I apply what I learned on every jump and have noticed how my skills have improved!!

This is a no win argument. In my opinion, I think it was right at that time to end the war. Who bombed whom first. Anyone remember a place named Pear harbor? Who was that that bombed us? We didn't start the war be we sure needed to end it. Let's look at this from another angle as well. If Germany had it, would they have used it? I think so. Hitler wanted Britain gone! With Britain getting their ass kicked, would Churchill have used it? I think so. Japan? Bet your ass they would have. Germans did some screwed up shit but japan did a lot of the same shit too! Ask the Chinese or Koreans and the plillipinos. (spelling?) Did anyone ever hear of the Batan death march? Yes a lot of atrocities were committed from all involved. The most important thing is to know this and ensure that we have learned from it so it doesn't happen again. I personally saw some fucked up shit the Iraqis did to kuwaitis during the Gulf war. War is bad and people die. Sad truth. Been there seen that. Makes no sense trying to figure out who was right and who was wrong over 60 years ago. I think we should just get the fuck out and let the world figure it out. Until of course they call us whining they want our help again like they did twice in the last century! The US tried to remain out of both world wars. After we got involved, there was no turning back!

So THIS is why the children didn't get healthcare?

Wouldn't a few Nukes be cheaper and easier? Just kidding -
I wonder how many real guns are on the streets of London. Maybe someone from the UK can answer that. Is there gun crime? If so, you can see how disarming the law abiding citizen doesn't help. It's all about criminal control not gun control. Illegal drugs are a real problem. But the laws about having and or using them do not seem to work very well do they? Why should firearms be any different.

I call it the "Pussification" of America!

IPSC gun games give guns which cross the "major power" momentum threshold a scoring advantage. If you are going through the trouble of getting a gun for the rare social situation which requires one, why not get one that makes your chances of success highest? QuoteTrue I agree, That wasn't part of my decision though. To each his own

Everyone has been talking about the Sig and Glock. Now these both are without a doubt great guns. One gun that I have and absolutely love is the Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm. It is also available in a .40 and .357sig. It also comes with three changeable grips for just the right fit! I chose the 9mm due to the cheapest ammo to use. As for knock down power? Too many people put too much emphasis on this. Unless you are law enforcement, I wouldn't worry about that but that's up to the individual. Let's just say that I wouldn't want to be hit by any of them!! Plus my S&W holds 17 rounds in one mag! The .40 however is a compromise between the 9mm and the .45ACP. But check out the M&P in any caliber. It's a sweet firing gun for around 500.00.

TSA & traveling with rigs as carry on
btvr replied to rjackson's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Went to Eloy a couple weeks ago. I flew out of Raleigh. The rig went thru then the guy grabs my shoes and said "sir gonna do a test on these" I said sure. Was laughing inside on that one. Not one Question asked about the rig. On the way back, my brother and I both had our rigs. They just called the Supervisor and she did swabs on them. She was nice and made small talk and asked.. " Did you guys go to Eloy"? We said yes and said we had a great time. She zipped up the gear bags, said thank you and we were on our way. I figured Phoenix would be very familiar with Rigs. I expected to be questioned more at Raleigh and that was the second time I flew out of there with not one question asked. Funny thing was when my cigarette lighter went thru and the guy in back of me asked with a nervous look, "you're allowed to bring lighters"? I said Apparently. Like you could bring a plane down with one of those. -
You might want to contact aerodyne research. They are the company that merged with PISA (the comany that made the hornet) They might have the specs for it. www.flyaerodyne.com

Hey thanks for that link! That's almost exactly what I was looking for. It clears up a lot of confusion.

Ok, quick question about canopy classifications. After comparing different canopy manufacturers web sites. There seems to be differences in what one mfg says to another. I'm referring to the wing loading suggestions. One says 1.1 wing loading is advanced and the other it's considered intermediate. 0.9 is novice. What ever the case may be, now comes the question. How many jumps is the cut off for each wing loading? How many jumps are novice at 0.9? intermediate at, let's say 1.1? Advanced at 1.2 and expert at 1.3 and up? I know each person must figure it him/herself out to each skill level and get advice from the people that know them. Now according to USPA licenses. A was basic at 25 or so and B was intermediate at 50. C is advanced at 200 which used to be 100 and D at expert or what ever at 500 which used to be 200. So what are some opinions on jump numbers for canopy classifications? There has to be a number that can be put on this some how. If not, then why don't the manufacturers just put the maximum weight limit? Thoughts?
