Thanks Matt! I appreciate all of the time and hard work that it took to compile all of that. I'm awed that I was allowed to be in the same air as those great wingsuiters and huge flocks. My Mom was a terrible cook. There were things that she made when I was growing up that I didn't think I liked until I tasted how someone else made them. She could make some mean steak, rice and gravy though. My mother-in-law made some wicked squirrel with biscuits and gravy. My ex would go hunting the night before and she would prepare it for breakfast the next morning. My grandmother's buttermilk biscuits were legendary. I've never seen anyone else make them in a shallow wooden bowl using their hands to mix the ingredients. I've tried to master all of these dishes to no avail. I bought a Vigil last October, and I am happy with it. I did a search on these forums for "Vigil" and liked what I read. I asked my rigger his opinion since I didn't know anyone at my DZ who had one. He said he had attended a seminar on it. The presenter and he played tug of war with the cords, and the unit still worked fine. Apparently, it is very well constructed. He told me that he was going to buy a Vigil the next time he needed an AAD. That was good enough for me. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday. -
darnknit thinks that what I wrote in response to your post was critical of me. Please forgive me if you took it take way. That was not my intention. I appreciate the time you took to write that. The words you used were excellent. I intend to print them off and include it with all of my rigs when I travel. I think it would be good if the screeners at the security checkpoints would read it. I've had to do some fancy explanations in the past. Using your words would give them a better understanding of what they are handling. Head Shit Shoveler at Quailwood Stables That wasn't really bad though. I took pride in my work. I loved horses, and it gave me a sense of accomplishment that I could take a smelling stall and make it sweet for the horses. I wasn't paid, but I was allowed to ride the horses. I've never really had a job that I hated. I just make sure that I don't accept a job unless I know that it's for me. I've been at my day job for 24 years and my evening job for 10 years. I've never traveled with two rigs before. When I travel with one, it goes into a soft bag that I wear like a bookbag over my shoulders. I can't carry two rigs on the airplane, so I'll have to check one. What would I put it in? I wouldn't want to put it something soft because I'm afraid it would be damaged. I've always been a small-town country girl wannabe. I grew up and still live in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., though. I had horses, dogs, cats, a rabbit and a chicken when I was growing up. The house where I grew up was destroyed and townhouses put up because of urban sprawl. I visited New York City once. We had to buzz the apartment from the outside before the entrance door would open. We walked up three floors and knocked on the door. The occupant peered out at us from a view hole in the door and proceeded to unlock ten deadbolt locks. When we got inside, it was a one-room efficiency with bars on the only window. I'm sorry... that just felt like prison to me.
