I told my Mom that I was planning to go for a tandem skydive a year ago. Her only wish was that I not tell her what day that I am going because she would be a nervous wreck. I kept her wish, called her when I landed and told her all about it. I have since done another tandem and completed AFF. My Mom still doesn't want to know when I'm going jumping, but I have explained a lot about the sport to her, including safety precautions, and of course how much I love skydiving. Like another poster (sorry dude, forgot your name) said, she's starting to warm up to the idea of me jumping.. but she's not ready for the "what if something happens" talk quite yet. But it will happen eventually. I also agree to the fact that I don't think a lot of people in this sport realize the risks. I myself am guilty of it. But I am quite aware that things can and do happen, even when everything is done right. I love this sport so much. All I can do is take every safety precaution there is to ensure the safest jump possible. And that I will do.

Go to Jumptown in Orange, MA and do the AFF Camp. I got my AFF done in 4 days and now I'm on solo status working towards my A. Of course my opinion is slightly biased Good luck with it!

I also own and drive a stick. I have an automatic and I never drive it. Stick is the way to go. Plus you have a better chance of winning a race while driving a stick

I don't have nightmares about my current job, but I have nightmares (well, non-pleasant dreams.. my boss isn't trying to kill me or anything) about my last job. And I, too, still have nightmares about school.

I guess I'm the only one that hates fruit in my yogurt. Too much consistency issues. I want smooth or chunky, not both.

I saw a great bumper sticker the other day. It said: Myspace. A place for losers. It was in the same font as MySpace, and gave me a little chuckle.

I despise 'fruit on the bottom' yogurt. I eat yogurt because it has a smooth consistency and it tastes awesome. Why ruin it by chomping into a big chunky, pulpy piece of fruit. Gross. However, I do like the yogurt where you mix in the crumbled pieces of Oreo cookies. Incredible!

Welcome, and don't even try turning back now. You're hooked. My roommates dropped a bomb on me after I came back from doing my AFF this past weekend. "While you were gone we looked at a house and we can't pass it up. It's gonna be $700 to get in." What the fuck! That's like, half the cost of a starter rig. Or a good amount of jumps working towards my A. Coach jumps.. I have been going crazy the past few days selling shit that I don't need any more. I have to get in at least a few jumps this weekend, weather permitting. Soon you'll be selling your posessions to fuel the desire to jump. Just wait.. And by the way, don't worry about your first AFF. It's a piece of cake.. especially if you've already done two tandems, because you won't be overwhelmed. I also did two tandems before starting AFF, so you'll be fine brotha.

I flirt a lot. Sometimes I don't even know that I'm doing it. I'll even flirt with ugly chicks. If anything, it makes them feel good about themselves, so that's always nice. I usually don't mean anything by it. Sometimes I'll flirt just to see what the reaction is like. But usually it's just something I do.

Ahh ok, cool! Yeah, I knew it was going to happen.. I show one person a trick and I have everyone asking me to do magic. Oh well, it was to be expected.

The only videos I watch on skydivingmovies.com are the freefly ones. That's where it's at! Can't wait to start sitflying. Gotta get that A first.. Hey Rob.. I probably did meet you, and I apologize for not remembering. I was the small guy stuck in the pink jumpsuit jumping a 240 student navigator lol. What kind of rig do you have? I would probably recognize you more by your rig than anything else.. I met a ton of people. Michelle, damn you, you didn't show me your rig yesterday lol. Like I said, I want my own rig, and I don't care if it IS bright pink It's only temporary until I can move down to at least a 150. You guys gonna be down this weekend? Sheila's hair is bright pink and it looks awesome! Her and Diane are definitely awesome, and they made an announcement over the speaker congratulating me on my graduation. Very cool people at Jumptown. They are all awesome. I can't wait to go back!

1 for Thursday, 3 Friday, 3 Saturday, 1 today. Didn't do my solo today for a few reasons. The loads were going up really slow because of the bird incident with the Casa, and I wanted to let my graduation sink in and think about my arch. I did so well in my D category jumps but in my E jumps I was buffeting a bit. Plus, I'm heading up on Friday after work, and what's better than my first solo to start off the weekend.

Well my weekend started Thursday, so.. 1:3:3:1 Takes care of AFF, first solo next weekend.

It sure does. It's really going to sink in when I do my first solo and don't have to worry about performing. Pretty sweet feeling

I just got back from Jumptown and I am totally pumped that I graduated AFF! I started on Thursday with my Cat. A, did my B, C1 and C2 on Friday, D1, D2 and E1 on Saturday, and finished today with my E2. I got really lucky and was able to do my first four AFF jumps out of a Casa, and also did my E1 out of the Casa (before a bird flew into the fucking engine and ruined it). I also got really lucky that I didn't have to repeat any levels, and finished the course with 8 jumps. On another cool note, I met fellow DZ.commer froglady during the Casa Boogie this weekend. She is really cool, extremely nice, and her rig is bad ass. I got to meet a bunch of other cool people that were extremely friendly and helpful. Even though I was the new guy on the DZ everyone treated me like an equal. It was a great feeling. Overall, it was an incredible weekend, and I want to throw a special thank you to my awesome instructor, Dick Spates. He was with me throughout my 4 days at Jumptown and took me through my FJC all the way through my E2. He is THE MAN, and really gave me the skills and confidence I needed to get through my AFF without a hitch. Mad props! Looking forward to doing some solos and coach jumps. Next step, A License! The bird hit the Casa.. Stupid bird. Apparently it completely missed the propellers and went right into the engine itself. We didn't end up getting another one unfortunately, so I believe the record stands. But there was definitely some awesome CReW stuff happening this weekend.

I think I used fuck a good amount of times, but noticed a couple of open windows that could've been filled with my good friend, the "F" word. I heard on the radio today that now the weekend is supposed to be nice. So who knows.. I'm obviously going to go down anyways, and hope I can at least make a couple of jumps.

So I'm supposed to be going down to Jumptown from Thursday through Sunday to do my AFF class. And guess what? Of course, it's going to fucking rain from Thursday through Saturday night. Fucking great. I've been waiting for this since last year, and now my weekend is going to be fucked. I fucking HATE rain.
