  1. I don't know, but personally I like the idea of an analog device. I just need a perspective on where I am in the sky, not actual numbers. The dial on the analog to me feels like the sky and the needle lets me know how much I've fallen and how much is left. At that point I don't really want to know the numbers to the last feet. I'm ok with being able to assess that I'm half or a quater way between 5000 and 4000 or at 4000. Since I don't open all the way down in the 2000s I guess I have a tolerance for a few hundred feet plus and minus.
  2. Every time I try to update my profile I get this error: "Date (Can't be Blank) Please correct and submit again" When I look for the date field on the form it's not there, so there is essentially no date to modify and therefore I can't submit my profile
  3. Have your instructor watch you. I'm sure he'll be able to figure out what you need to do. If you are jumping student rigs may be you can ask him to assist you through a couple of landings using the radio. It'll help you focus more on developing your own sense of timing since you'll have the comfort of a safety net ( that being your instructor's voice if he thinks it's required )
  4. So is it that, using a pull out PC rather than a throw out one will do away with the possibility of getting into a horseshoe or a PC in tow. If the only associated mal with the pull out seems to be a hard pull then doesn't that make a pull out much better than a throw out.
  5. What are the pros and cons of a BOC pilot chute vs a Pull Out pilot chute deployment mechanism.
  6. I have about 46 jumps and I fly a Triathlon. It opens soft, and flares well. I love it as my first canopy. From the very limited that I know about flying canopies I've had no issues with it.
  7. Never packed an F111 but I believe it's easier. I learnt to pack on a Triathlon with about 100 jumps on it and that wasn't bad either. Some of the other ZPs, specially if new are harder to pack I believe.

    FINALLY!!!!

It's 30 and partly cloudy here in NJ and I'm still planning to jump.
  9. New Jersey the two places that I've been to charge $50
  10. what exactly is a side spin on a tandem and why is it so dreaded.
  11. now ! I would love to see that.
  12. So what does a helicopter jump feel like. Do you get a sinking feeling when you step off, and how high do you normally get to jumpf from. I was looking up the prices somewhere. How come they are more expensive, is the operational cost of a helicopter more than that of a plane like a cessna.
  13. I haven't quite got the picture here. Why is primary Pilot chute hesitation an issue of concern. If the primary is hesitating and the catapult chute lifts the bag out why would that be bad. Is it something to do with the possibility of line twists being induced.
  14. I was reading abou the benefits of the catapult reserve pilot chute and was curious to know what does everyone else think about it. If it can truely overcome the horse shoe mal on a reserver then why isn't it made the standard for all containers. Why does only Reflex have it.
  15. It's nice to see that you were able to identify all these to be issues that needed addressing in your jump. I think thats a good sign. Use a dytter.

    Defy You

where can you download it from
  17. Well of my very few that I have being new to the sport the prettiest one I had was the first tandem of the AFF or AFP whatever it's called, which was also my first skydive ever. I came down looked back up at the sky and heard myself saying "I'm definitely going to like this sport"
  18. I weigh 170 at exit and fly a 175 triathalon. Haven't had any issues with it. It's not fast and it's not slow to the point that you feel you aren't coming down that day.
  19. You should be asking your doctor this and I hope you said the skydiving rig part in light humor and is not the real reason behind this.
  20. but aren't BASE canopies free packed normally. How is that the same as the packing of a reserve. I always thought reserves go into a deployment bag, just like the main. I'm quite new to the sport so my knowledge is quite limited so bare with me if the questions sound a bit silly. Since I haven't seen reserves being packed and haven't read anything about reserve packing on these forums I'm intrigued by it. Want to understand it a bit more than just knowing that if I pull the silver handle it'll pop it out.
  21. I agree with you on the main not working. Not the way it's packed for skydiving. It's the reserve that I'm curious about. This question is more from an academic point of view, just to understand what a reserve can and cannot do outside it's original working environment.
  22. From under a fully open canopy if someone was to cutaway how much altitude would it take for a reserve to fully deploy. And here is another hypothetical situation, ofcourse I'm not trying it and I know this is best left to the base jumpers and their rigs but if someone was to jump out of a 300 feet building and pull the reserve handle would it deploy in time. Alternately if you were to jump out and toss the pilot shoot manually by holding it while jumping off would that help.
  23. How does one figure out if a container is parapack or cordura ? What is Talon 2 made off ?
  24. Not much to it. It's better if you borrow it from someone and watch it once or twice. Breakaway though was sure worth something.
