I didn't know you stall a canopy using the front riser too. How is it done ? I thought FR only made the canopy dive with more speed.
-
I think with a pilot chute in tow if you are still low on experience it's best not to try and grab the bridle and shake it out. Just go for the silver or red and then silver whichever one you follow. Reason being, the mal is a high speed one. In trying to clear it you waste time and open yourself up to the possibility of a horse shoe or something equally messy if you land up loosing your balance while trying to reach for the bridle. The bridle may also just steer itself around your arm while you are trying to find it. It's better to just avoid that possibility.

I'd rather be thinking in free fall than making conversation. Can live without talking for a minute. Conversation in free fall will definitely distract me.

Ofcourse the best thing to trust is your own perception and instincts but until you develop good ones it's not a bad idea to have an audible onboard. I'm not saying you develop a blind faith towards it. Trust yourself first. But if the dytter is working correctly when your eyes are playing games and your alti is not moving it might just help in the decision process. Even on a normal day it's a good reminder just in case you are slacking out a bit in the jump. I don't recommend the audible as an alternate to anything. I recommend it as one of the things to have.
-
I share your interest in the same too. I like to know and understand the technical aspects of my rig. Don't like the thought of looking at it and feeling like I'm looking at an alien.
-
getting an audible as a back up is probably a good thing to do too.
-
that makes sense.

I would go for AFF. But then thats how I learnt so thats the only one I'm familiar with. Don't know what it's like to go the S/L way. But I guess being in a Skydive from the very first jump has it's advantages and is fun.
-
so why is it better for the battery life if it shuts itself off. Does it do something that consumes more battery than would if it just shut itself off.
-
I own a Talon 2. Bought it as my first rig and have about 80 plus jumps on it which include belley flying and attempts at free flying. Haven't faced any issues with the container. It's been great up until now.
-
I would be very interested in knowing the reasoning that these experienced jumpers are giving when they think it's ok for a guy to fly a 1.4 wing loading with just 20 jumps under his belt. What exactly do they mean by flying it conservativly. By who's standard.
-
and what about the connector links, is that something left to the sellers discretion or is it considered as part of the canopy and can be demanded to be included.
-
Wanted to know what all is included in the package when you go shopping for a main specially off classifieds. If there's an add for main being sold does it mean it includes the deployment bag, the bridle and the pilot chute.
-
Sorry to hear that but I think you put it in the wrong forum.

Check of 3's, 6 point check, Handle check?
rendezvous replied to Sebazz1's topic in Safety and Training
Some people wait the rest of their life looking for that handle on the pilot chute LOL ! well put. How true. -
thanks for all the replies. Another question. So if I go ask for the classes at a Gym what should I be looking for in them i.e what all should they cover. thanks.

Hi, From some post in the past I seems like a lot of people out here do rock climbing. I actually want to get into it too. Want to know how to go about it and if you know any good classes that i can undertake. I live in the New York City area and so something local would be the most convenient. thanks.
-
ah ! let's see. I do quite a bit of roller blading. Learning Karate. Looking into learning rock climbing and surfying ( any suggestion and tips on how and where would be most welcomed. I live in the Manhattan metro area ). Swimming and running are done more as a routine. Other games that I've played at some point of time are cricket ( a lot of it ), squash ( decent amount of it ), soccer. Then there's skiing and ice skating that I do over the winter. Want to learn sailing but $$$ is an issue. Cannot take up everything at the same time. Want to eventually work towards BASE jumping in some controlled manner.

so basically you are saying that the Skycorder is not accurate since pro track is everyones choice and the readings from the two may differ a lot.Quote
-
Anyone used a SkyCorder for recording skydiving data. How detailed and reliable is it. I already have a Pro Dytter so was looking for something cheap way of achiving what a pro track can do.
-
well, I think sometimes it takes more than just common sense to detect turbulance. Experience definitely has a roll to play in it specially when we are talking about something that isn't really vissible but can only be felt.
-
how long did it take you to get over sensory overload
rendezvous replied to SilentJ's topic in Safety and Training
It took me about 30 jumps. On AFF's I never even saw the plane. It simply use to get lost somewhere up there. -
with all due respect to the seriousness of the question would it be a skydiving accident if you were doing exactly what you described just that instead of getting hit by lightning you got run over by a car, or a snake came and bit you, or you laughed so hard that your heart stopped. Point being, if this is a serious question then atleast give us your view point so that it doesn't sound all that absurd to us. Else it sounds like some loud thinking to kill time.

If I meet all the requirements of the B and C licence can I directly get the C without applying for the B.
-
Ok ! I don't know much about this but out of curiosity what does this mean and how does it affect things.
