RELAX ! ...... I know this has been said a million times but it's so important that the more you remind yourself about it the better. On ground keep repeating the word RELAX ! to your self and everytime you do it let loose the tension in your body and feel that happen. When you've done this a couple of times your body will automatically react to the word relax by loosening it'self. Then go jump and as soon as you step out tell yourself to arch and relax. When you in a into your dive once tell yourself to relax. Thats how important it is. The rest will come automatically. And trust in your ability to do whatever your dive requires too. Don't worry if you have to repeat a level. Just relax and trust yourself. It'll happen automatically. Also don't rush into your dives. Set yourself up. Feel yourself unnerve and then proceed.

ANy one has any thoughts on the usefulness of the Body Flight THeory video by Skydive University. I've just got of AFF status and was wondering if there is any information in that video worth the money it costs.
-
What do you think about Skydive University's Basic Body Flight Theory video. Is it worth the time and money. Does it help in anyway in improving the skills learnt during the AFF course and in learning new ones. How far does it serve it's purpose. Any comments or recommendation on this will be welcomed. Thanks.

This question is in response to riggerrob's answer. From what you said they where uncomfortable to walk around in. I have the same problem as you described. Just wanted to know if the broad pads caused any problems during deployment or free fall or was it limited to being on ground
-
Whats a pull up cord. From what riggerrob describes I think if I change to smaller pads that should work. But I would be interested in knowing what the pull up cord is. Thats an option I don't know about.

I had an issue with spinning on my level 4. Got into a tumble because I was trying to fight to correct the spin. Doesn't work. Mother nature is much stronger than any of us. What nailed it for me on my next jump on level 4 was that I submitted to the wind with an arch and simply focused on loosing the tension from my arms, legs and body. I automatically came back into a belly to earth position and held it with stability. I know it's a bit weird to be talking about relaxing when you are plunging down to earth but hey ! it works. Don't focus on getting it right. Just try enjoying the fall. breathe, smile, arch, look at the horizon and don't fight the motion. Just lie there still and relaxed.

If I tighten the harness a bit the two inner edges of the straps rub against each other and against the crotch.

How is a bungee cord pilot chute. Is it reliable and are there any concerns with it.
-
is it possible to replace the wide leg pads on the Talon 2 harness with the narrow ones. How much would it cost and can the rigger do it or does it need to be sent back to the manufacturer.

How difficult is it to pack a triathlon with 150 jumps on it considering all the scary stories regarding ZP packing. Thanks.

What type of main & reserve for newly licensed
rendezvous replied to ripcord's topic in Gear and Rigging
if you do plan buying an elliptical with such little experience you might run into issues with some dropzones since some of them may not allow you to use one unless you are experienced enough to be on one. -
Well, I'm too new to this to know what happened but I do like the fact that you are showing concern. Would like to be your passenger.

I believe you can ask for the serial number and then call up SSK and ask them about the service record. The person I spoke to was very helpful.

Going back to one of the questions in this, if you buy a used cypres how do you know weather it's batteries have been changed and when the last 4 year check it was done. If there some sort of a log or a service card that is updated. Thanks.

I believe the reserver was bought new and installed in the rig but the rig was never used.

what is your take on the price of the follwing gear and is it worth it for a beginner. A 99 talon II ( F.A.S.T ) new with a Triathlon 175 ( 150 jumps ) @ $2000 and a Talon T5 1996 ( standard harness ) with a new PD160 reserve ( 1996 ) @ $1600. What would you price these at. thanks.
-
Would having a PD160 Reserve, DOM 1993, be a sensible thing to do. It's been jumped once I believe, and then was packed by a rigger. Also, how much should I be paying for this ('93) PD160 reserve.

Where could I find out what the various harness sizes ( and if I'm assuming correctly ) like C-17 or C-16 actually imply. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for all your input. It's been quite valuable to me in understanding how these transactions are done. Do keep the suggestions coming.

can a Sabre 190 be packed in a Talon T5
rendezvous replied to rendezvous's topic in Gear and Rigging
Has anyone tried packing a Sabre 170 or a Sabre 190 in a Talon T5. How well do they fit, specially the 190. If the 190 is a tight fit how safe is it to fit it in and how uncomfortable is it to do so. -
If my exit weight is 171 lbs and I am a novice but with good canopy skills would it ok for me start with a a Sabre 170 as opposed to a Sabre 190 or would I be pushing it. On a scale of 10 ( with 10 as highly recommended ) what would you feel about using a Sabre 170 instead of a 190. Just need to see what people feel about it.

I'm new to this sport and ofcourse shopping for it. I was just wondering how much risk do you run in buying of classifieds in terms of getting something that looks quite different from the advertising and how do you minimize this risk. Has anyone had bad experiences with this and what are the lessons learnt. There are lot's of payment methods that gaurentee that the money will be delivered but are there any methods that the can give you peace of mind regarding the expected quality of what you are receiving. Thanks.
