What the world can teach us about equality and happiness. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/mar/20/norway-ousts-denmark-as-worlds-happiest-country-un-report All Western politicians claim to promote transparency and technology. The Nordics can do so with more justification than most. The performance of all schools and hospitals is measured. Governments are forced to operate in the harsh light of day: Sweden gives everyone access to official records. Politicians are vilified if they get off their bicycles and into official limousines. The home of Skype and Spotify is also a leader in e-government: you can pay your taxes with an SMS message. http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/21571136-politicians-both-right-and-left-could-learn-nordic-countries-next-supermodel

'Incredibly brave' stabbed police officer fought off attackers armed with just a baton A British Transport Police officer, who has only been with the force for two years, has been praised for his remarkable bravery in the face of terror. The man, who remains unnamed, is recovering from his injuries in hospital after he was stabbed during the London Bridge terror attack as he confronted the attackers armed with only a baton. The officer was one of the first on the scene after he responded to calls for help from the public after a vehicle ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/04/incredibly-brave-stabbed-police-officer-fought-attackers-armed/ 'Look at America': Manchester police chief 'proud' UK police don't all carry guns http://www.smh.com.au/world/look-at-america-manchester-police-chief-proud-uk-police-dont-all-carry-guns-20170530-gwgr5z.html

ISIS claims bombing at Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England
Phil1111 replied to nolhtairt's topic in Speakers Corner
Donald Trump uses London terror attack to twist Sadiq Khan's words as he trolls capital's mayor.. Donald Trump has used the London terror attack to troll the capital's mayor Sadiq Khan just hours after the violence that left seven dead. The US President accused Mr Khan of saying the massacre gave "no reason to be alarmed" in an astonishing Twitter rant... And a spokeswoman for Mr Khan hit back: "The Mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services, and the government to coordinate the response to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack and provide leadership and reassurance to Londoners and visitors to our city. "He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump's ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police - including armed officers - on the streets."... The President's intervention prompted fury from sitting London MPs. David Lammy said: "These words are deeply unpleasant and unseemly and unbecoming of any national leader. "It is deeply offensive to the victims and first responders and the people of London to tweet such words about our elected mayor who as we speak is on the frontline, working with the police, to keep London safe at this fraught and difficult time." And Wes Streeting lambasted the President over damaging leaks of intelligence on the Manchester attack to US media. "Having already undermined police response to Manchester, this so-called ally makes cheap attack on London's Mayor. Cancel the state visit," he said. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/donald-trump-uses-london-terror-10557760 -

Donald Trump may just have achieved another first -- but this isn't one he will like. He may be on the verge of becoming the first president to be considered a "lame duck" within the first two months of his presidency. If you define a "lame duck" president as someone who lacks the political capital to turn his ideas into policy, you might want to stick a fork in Trump because he's done -- at least for now. http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/26/opinions/trump-lame-duck-obeidallah-opinion/ Column Trump's acting like a lame duck president http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-goldberg-trump-lame-duck-20170418-story.html Where is the trump budget???? The trump budget is gone. No promotion of it. No selling of it. " the Trump 2018 budget released last Tuesday completely disappeared from view before the start of the Memorial Day weekend just three days later. By Wednesday, that is, the day after the Trump budget was unveiled, it was clear that there was little Republican (and even less Democratic) enthusiasm for what the president had proposed. The next day, the only real budget-related news was that Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin -- the two cabinet members with the Trump administration's primary fiscal policy responsibilities -- had dramatically different views about if and how tax reform would be paid for." https://www.forbes.com/sites/stancollender/2017/05/28/new-trump-budget-completely-disappears-in-an-amazing-just-3-days/#3048f3574a1f trump's budget lasted as long as a blind lame duck on the first day of Texas duck hunting season. DOA.

Post purchase dissonance. Post Purchase Cognitive Dissonance is the phrase we give to the state of unease which exists in the customer’s mind after buying a product or service. You buy a car and then you think you paid too much for it? The jacket which looked great in the trendy boutique doesn’t look quite right for the romantic night out with the wife? The politicians you voted for aren’t delivering quite what you hoped for? https://abranddayout.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/post-purchase-cognitive-dissonance-avoiding-disappointment-requires-honesty/ The 23 million who will lose insurance under trumpcare...and ...Marc.

I think that trump's attitude that his populist attitudes and ideas. Will be the only policy out of the WH is leading to a rapidly spiraling lack of respect all around. Co**holster Severed Head http://heavy.com/news/2017/06/ken-jennings-barron-trump-tweet-twitter-donald-trump-jr/

Nice to see your congregation admit that the science isn't settled. Just like with gravity and quantum mechanics, there's always something more to learn. And as always, deniers of both.

Or take the wings off, truck it to Nashville, Dollywood, etc. New exterior paint job and welcome tourists.

Yeah there is. Not funny. Not smart. Bad taste. There are as many nutty liberals as there are conservatives.

That's pretty much....it. When the republican party sees strong indications about midterm elections. They adopted trump and they can dump trump. trump's baggage accumulates as each week goes by. They have a legislative agenda and they need to get busy on it setting distractions aside. Its not getting easier. They see the polls. They know how many messages arrive at the office each day about the president. At some point, its time to hit the lifeboats and let the Titanic trump go down. In the meantime the trifecta of legislative power is in effect. They will try to use it.

and the result is: Forty-three percent of voters want Congress to begin impeachment proceedings, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, up from 38 percent last week. Up 5% in a single week while he was on his trip. a 54-percent majority of those believe Trump “has proven he is unfit to serve and should be removed from office, regardless of whether he committed an impeachable offense or not.” Only 43 percent of those seeking impeachment believe Trump has committed an offense that meets the high constitutional standards for removal. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/31/trump-impeach-polling-238947

You could well be right but to add they knew that they didn't want HRC. She hatred Putin before the election and viewed him exactly like John McCain does. I'll also add that Putin views Russian strength ads good for his ability to keep the domestic audience in line. To enable him and his kleptocratic buddies still feasting at the trough.

I like him. He is perfect for the job.

Donald Trump acted like 'a drunk tourist' on Europe trip that led Angela Merkel to proclaim end of US alliance President took harsher stance against European allies than against leaders of Middle East in Riyadh Donald Trump was like a “drunk tourist” on his first trip abroad, which saw awkward handshakes with the French President, shoving the Prime Minister of Montenegro and causing German Chancellor Angela Merkel to declare the end of the US alliance with Europe. A US State Department official blasted the “arrogance” of the President as he flew from Saudi Arabia and Israel to Europe last week. “Loud and tacky, shoving his way around the dance floor. He steps on others without realising it. It’s ineffectual.” http://www.independent.co.uk/news/donald-trump-trip-abroad-saudi-arabia-europe-nato-climate-change-human-rights-handshakes-a7761036.html

Macron slams 'lying Russian propaganda' in frank talks with Putin "Maybe they were Russian hackers, maybe they were not," he said. A more candid Macron let fly when questioned about two pro-Kremlin media outlets that were barred from his campaign headquarters after being accused of a smear campaign. The RT broadcaster and Sputnik agency are "organs of influence and untruthful propaganda, nothing more, nothing less," he declared. RT's chief editor Margarita Simonyan, in a statement, dismissed Macron's comment as "baseless accusations" for which "not a single piece of evidence" had been provided. Macron also took the bull by the horns on human rights, saying Putin had promised him "the whole truth" about an alleged crackdown on gay men in Russian-controlled Chechnya and warning he would be "vigilant" on the issue. 'No concessions' France's youngest ever president made a successful debut on the world stage last week, holding his own against Trump at a NATO summit in Brussels and winning plaudits from his peers at a G7 summit in Italy. Meanwhile, in the USA, in the WH trump excludes US media and invites Russian media, IN THE OVAL OFFICE!!!

Putin's Russian TV says Donald Trump more dangerous than North Korean leader Russian state television has no doubt who is unpredictable enough to bring the world to war in the North Korean crisis, and it's not the reclusive communist dictator Kim Jong-Un. According to Dmitry Kiselyov, the Kremlin's top TV mouthpiece, the riskiest is Donald Trump, the man Russian officials and propagandists hailed just a few weeks ago as just the kind of leader the world needed. In the latest sign of the Kremlin's abrupt about-face on its erstwhile American hero, Kiselyov pronounced Trump "more dangerous" than his North Korean counterpart. http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/europe/91639938/Putins-Russian-TV-says-Donald-Trump-more-dangerous-than-North-Korean-leader John McCain says Putin is the 'premier threat' and is more dangerous than ISIS The Arizona Senator said in an interview that Putin was the 'most important' threat Said because of mounting evidence the Kremlin had tried to influence the outcome of the US and French elections Criticized President Trump for not responding to the evidence Addressed reports about Trump campaign's alleged ties to Russia 'This is becoming more and more bizarre. Mike Dubke, the White House communications director, has resigned from his position, a move that could portend a wider shakeup of the team, CBS News and The Washington Post are reporting Tuesday.... Dubke, who had been on the job three months, resigned May 18,.. The job of the White House communications director is to promote the administration’s agenda and coordinate its messaging. Dubke came to the White House in February to help ease some of Sean Spicer’s responsibilities. https://www.theatlantic.com/news/archive/2017/05/mike-dubke-out/528462/

Knowing where the middle East was would be a good start. Trump Humiliates Himself By Not Knowing That Israel Is In The Middle East http://www.politicususa.com/2017/05/22/trump-israel.html The title is a little misleading because trump 's ego shields personal humiliations.

This week’s bombing in Manchester, England, was another gruesome reminder that the threat from radical Islamist terrorism is ongoing. And President Trump’s journey to the Middle East illustrated yet again how the country central to the spread of this terrorism, Saudi Arabia, has managed to evade and deflect any responsibility for it. In fact, Trump has given Saudi Arabia a free pass and a free hand in the region.... But Trump was talking not of his host, Saudi Arabia, but rather of Iran. Now, to be clear, Iran is a destabilizing force in the Middle East and supports some very bad actors. But it is wildly inaccurate to describe it as the source of jihadist terror. According to an analysis of the Global Terrorism Database by Leif Wenar of King’s College London, more than 94 percent of deaths caused by Islamic terrorism since 2001 were perpetrated by the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and other Sunni jihadists. Iran is fighting those groups, not fueling them. Almost every terrorist attack in the West has had some connection to Saudi Arabia. Virtually none has been linked to Iran. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/global-opinions/saudi-arabia-just-played-donald-trump/2017/05/25/d0932702-4184-11e7-8c25-44d09ff5a4a8_story.html?utm_term=.8afbd3d44747 Iran is no prize in its support for Assad and Hezbollah. But the Saudi's are worse. As the article states lining up with a Saudi-Sunni coalition against the Shia in the middle east is a big mistake. I doubt trump could ever figure out the nuances of the middle-east Arab world.

I'm on TECO (house in Tampa). Haven't been able to do the search recently.... because as I also mentioned, each home owner should do their own cost-benefit analysis, and what they can afford. I've recently done some other work on the house, which has combined to reduce the power requirements dramatically. When I have more people living in the house in the future, I'll look into the solar upgrades at that time. Florida power battles: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39258421

Kushner wanted secure line with Kremlin before inauguration

Former head of the NSA and CIA Gen. Michael Hayden. IMO this is the smartest guy on CNN http://www.mediaite.com/trump/michael-hayden-on-jared-kushners-request-to-russians-ignorance-chaos-hubris/ I still think its treason.
