United retires 747 domestic flights, our friend sitting left seat!
Phil1111 replied to Calvin19's topic in The Bonfire
This is why freight concern UPS signed up for 14 747-8 freighters in late October 2016, with options for another 14 in the future. That sale meant that Boeing's quarterly results call last week featured Boeing chair, president and CEO Dennis Muilenburg, advising that “this order helps to fill the production skyline for the foreseeable future and significantly de-risks 747 program”. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/01/30/747_saved/ The 777 Freighter (777F) is an all-cargo version of the twinjet, and shares features with the -200LR; these include its airframe, engines,[201] and fuel capacity.[146] With a maximum payload of 224,900 lb (102,000 kg) (similar to the 243,000 lb (110,000 kg) of the 747-200F), it has a range of 4,970 nmi (9,200 km).[175] Greater range is possible if less cargo weight is carried.[202]... The first 777F was delivered to Air France on February 19, 2009.[96] As of June 2017, 130 freighters had been delivered to 16 different customers, with 31 unfilled orders.[1] Operators had 123 of the 777F in service as of July 2016.[10] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_777#777_Freighter -

For airlines its all about seat mile costs and empty seats on scheduled flights. https://www.airinsight.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/vvv.png Above from https://www.airinsight.com/super-twin-battle-revisited/ and the large twin widebody market in general: https://leehamnews.com/2017/08/07/key-lessors-see-strong-wide-body-market-despite-worries/ Large four engine commercial aircraft are beginning to look like dinosaurs. https://airwaysmag.com/industry/a-look-at-the-remaining-airbus-a380-and-boeing-747-orders-deliveries/ https://leehamnews.com/2017/02/16/singapore-777-9-order-pressures-not-kill-a380/ -
It could also be by the hands of conservative nationalists or other white supremacy groups, many of which include atheists. It's just that they have a familiarity with christianity and never felt threatened by it, so they just focus on other groups. Most likely a white male with poorly developed perspectives of religion and politics. Therefore easily motivated to impulsive hatred.

Could be. Whose window do you think they meant to throw it through? Truthfully, my first thought was classroom error. Bartsdaddy makes a good point as well. Good point. Any member of the Muslim community in America is a potential fifth column terrorist. All 3.3 million of them. Its time to have the FBI put them all under surveillance.

Please elaborate on the point you are trying to establish.

I taught a 78 or 79 year old pilot to jump. He had a hard time arching because of arthritis. But did great. So you should pack it in and give it up after another 20 years or so. As long as you're not jumping in the UK, but thats another story.

Very funny. The trump clan wants to put the shaft to the US public purse over lease rates. So the Secret Service moves out. Just when you thought the greed of the trump clan couldn't get bigger. Oh well. Russian guests will just have freer access. When they have another suitcase of fresh US cash, its just in the door and up the elevator. No pesky secret service men to deal with.

Because we won. We could not tolerate, even comprehend, Hillary as POTUS. No. That Trump won has nothing to do with the fact that you deliberately ignore provable facts if you don't like them. The two events are not causally related. You are correct, no relation at all. Why? Because we won. I encourage you to enjoy your life as best as you can. Then in 2020 evaluate the results of President Trump's policies and management. I would suggest that the republican party won. Had trump run as an independent the vote split on the right would have put HRC in office. Trump got a SC justice appointed but the honeymoon appears over. What else is he likely to accomplish? IMO Ron has religious beliefs that he sets aside when political ideology takes priority. I got new respect for the Mormon community when its compassionate religious principals shunned trump in the runup to trump's election. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/02/world/europe/vatican-us-catholic-conservatives.html A Vatican Shot Across the Bow for Hard-Line U.S. Catholics VATICAN CITY — Two close associates of Pope Francis have accused American Catholic ultraconservatives of making an alliance of “hate” with evangelical Christians to back President Trump, further alienating a group already out of the Vatican’s good graces. The authors, writing in a Vatican-vetted journal, singled out Stephen K. Bannon, Mr. Trump’s chief strategist, as a “supporter of an apocalyptic geopolitics” that has stymied action against climate change and exploited fears of migrants and Muslims with calls for “walls and purifying deportations.” The article warns that conservative American Catholics have strayed dangerously into the deepening political polarization in the United States. The writers even declare that the worldview of American evangelical and hard-line Catholics, which is based on a literal interpretation of the Bible, is “not too far apart’’ from jihadists.

Thats what I was thinking except that like the strike on Syria that he ordered. Any military action might do the job. Hopefully Mattis can herd the 50 cats running around in trump's brain. Either N. Korea or Iran would be a mistake.

This says it all. Or a Machiavellian family whose children are no different than the father.

https://www.edubloxtutor.com/iq-test-scores/ Harvard Professor Howard Gardner suggests that there are at least eight different types of intelligence, which are Verbal-linguistic intelligence (“word smart”) Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”) Visual-spatial intelligence (“picture smart”) Musical intelligence (“music smart”) Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence (“body smart”) Interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”) Intrapersonal intelligence (“self smart”) Naturalist intelligence (“nature smart”) Above from the story. Which traditionally miss a target of forecasting success, income, life satisfaction, problem solving and analytical abilities in general. Traditional IQ tests focus on "Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”) ". As such, they may rank such personalities as those on the popular TV show Big Bang Theory high. But whose comedy is based upon their interpersonal dysfunction vs a normal range of inter-intrapersonal skills.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-28/killing-the-border-tax-solved-one-problem-it-may-create-several B.A.T. was a bad idea. A VAT is a effective way to generate revenue for a government. But for republicans the introduction of such a broad tax, "invasive" for small business and individuals. Would be DOA without a comprehensive tax reform bill(s).

Take the link at the top of this page to avoid the paywall: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awashingtonpost.com+trump+is+something+the+nation+did+not+know+it+needed&oq=site%3Awashingtonpost.com+trump+is+something+the+nation+did+not+know+it+needed&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.14214j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Thanks for that i knew there was a google search way to do it but after a couple searches without the correct story headline I gave up. Trump is something the nation did not know it needed: a feeble president whose manner can cure the nation’s excessive fixation with the presidency. from story. The ideas that government or single policies can fix complex economic problems is beyond most people. The structural changes of energy, for example coal. Are beyond throwing the environment and its protective regulations under the bus. To save a few jobs for a few years. Leadership is not bullying. Its ideas and cajoling, hard work & sweat, long hours & flexibility. Its give and take. None of these qualities are evident in trump's personality. General Kelly will need more than band-aids to treat his personal head banging against a brick wall. In dealing with trump.

Now would be a good time for democrat leaders to step up. John McCain showed what leadership was all about this morning. When he voted down the "skinny bill". Democrats could approach McCain and other republican leaders and start a dialog to fix the ACA. To decrease costs and increase coverage. To come forth with positive ideas.

You've hit the nail on the head with the counter point. Allow me to wax poetic for a moment by saying that, in my estimate, 85% of the people that join the military do not join because of an overwhelming sense of patriotic duty. They join for much more tangible reasons: benefits, healthcare, education, skill training, financial stability, escaping a bad situation, etc. There are some that join purely to serve their country but the numbers are not many. Through basic training, advanced individual training, and unit training, the esprit d'corps, culture, and patriotism are established in the individual (or indoctrinated if you want to argue that point). Ask an initial term member why they serve and they will provide a much different answer than someone that is on their 3rd contract or a lifer. If someone wants to join just for a sex change, I don't really care. They will sign up, serve their obligation as deemed by their respective branch and move on. I roll that under Veterans benefits the same I would education benefits or any other benefits packages available to vets. The amount of fraud, waste, and abuse in the acquisitions and logistics area are far more concerning to me than the negligible costs of hormone treatments for an estimated 1500-6000 people. The military budget spends more on medical necessities of dependas and their broods than on actual service members. At least the transgenders are actually serving. To your last comment, I can trust them because I don't care about what is in their pants. I care about their demonstrated ability to uphold the physical standards set forth by the Army for their appropriate gender marker, their professional competence, and desire to achieve success on behalf of themselves and the unit. Agree completely. The same argument has been used since the 1950's with regards to pilots. That aviators were joining the services just to get free training to move onto the major airlines. Even greater reasons now that ATP is 1500 min.

Let's just keep them out of the military. We need warriors not emotionally disturbed, gender confused victims in the ranks. http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/26/opinions/kristin-beck-on-trump-transgender-tweet-opinion/index.html We should take up a collection to send him her to the WH. To kick trump's ass!!! Needless to say this command will not stand. Even you're confused now. :) Its a good thing I have you as my wingman.

So why has trump not ordered her prosecution? Why has he failed to keep that major campaign promise? WHY?

A full equal to anyone's first skydive is to swim down a coral reef surrounded by a 000 to 3,000 tropical fish of every color. Each one paying no attention to you and just going about their business. To have the corals of every color, the fish of every color all around you.

Nah, it's like a secret handshake - it doesn't really mean shit, but it's good enough to get you into the club. . . Close. LOCK HER UP, LOCK HER UP. Was the chant led by the orange boy for six months. No dissent from the nodding lemmings when that was all forgotten.

I happened to catch his Senate address on my car radio. Your take on McCain's speech differs from mine. You can watch/listen to it in full without interruption here: http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2017/07/25/mccain-returns-to-senate-floor-full-remarks.cnn If you prefer, his entire speech converted to text is here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/07/25/full-text-john-mccains-senate-floor-speech/509799001/ McCain said he wouldn’t vote for the Senate health care bill. 6 hours later he did.... Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell went through many hoops to try to save it, but ultimately, on Tuesday night, it failed. Senate procedure requires Republicans to start their floor debate with the American Health Care Act, the bill that the House passed in May. McConnell can substitute another bill for a final vote. Senators can also offer unlimited amendments during the process. McConnell first offered BCRA as the substitute. But the bill was destined to fail on the floor. Because of Senate rules, the latest version of the bill — which included a provision from Sen. Ted Cruz to allow for plans non-compliant with Obamacare regulations, and another amendment from Sen. Rob Portman to add money to Medicaid — needed 60 votes to pass, and was certainly not going to get eight Democrats on board, let alone 52 Republicans. Even with McCain’s vote, nine Republicans, free of party pressure, voted against BCRA Tuesday night. I'm disappointing with John McCain.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered its forecasts for US and UK economic growth this year, following "weaker-than-expected activity" in the first three months. ... The US will now grow 2.1%, as against the 2.3% it was predicting in April. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-40697473 The UK has Brexit while the US dreams of trumpexit.
