  1. and his boss: There's a remarkably telling paragraph in Maggie Haberman and Glenn Thrush's tour de force in the New York Times documenting President Trump's first two weeks in office. Here it is: Usually around 6:30 p.m., Mr. Trump retires upstairs to the residence to recharge, vent and intermittently use Twitter. With his wife, Melania, and young son, Barron, staying in New York, he is almost always by himself, sometimes in the protective presence of his imposing longtime aide and former security chief, Keith Schiller. When Mr. Trump is not watching television in his bathrobe or on his phone reaching out to old campaign hands and advisers, he will sometimes set off to explore the unfamiliar surroundings of his new home. First of all, it's amazing reporting that allows HaberThrush to create such a vivid image. Second, it continues to shock me how willing administration officials are to leak information that makes the 45th president look not so good. And third, and most importantly, the image of Trump as an almost entirely solitary figure, riveted to a TV set and his phone, is a revealing and important window into the man and the life he now lives. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/02/06/the-exceptional-isolation-of-donald-trump/?utm_term=.b0a26a64ef30 Everybody is hiding or has something to hide.
  2. Methinks thou dost protest too much. Imagine ...if you can... his mind at work. Well this letter should put this all to rest, its "Certified". Alternative reality Ha ha ha the FBI is all mine, MINE, MINE I tell you.
  3. May 09 2017 STATEMENT BY SENATOR JOHN McCAIN ON DISMISSAL OF FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement today on the dismissal of FBI Director James Comey: “While the President has the legal authority to remove the Director of the FBI, I am disappointed in the President's decision to remove James Comey from office. James Comey is a man of honor and integrity, and he has led the FBI well in extraordinary circumstances. I have long called for a special congressional committee to investigate Russia's interference in the 2016 election. The president's decision to remove the FBI Director only confirms the need and the urgency of such a committee.”
  4. Breaking news..Chris Christie is the nominee for FBI director. President trump feels his outstanding work in the bridgegate investigation, warrants his appointment to director.
  5. In 1973, President Nixon ordered the firing of special prosecutor Archibald Cox because he wouldn't obey Nixon's order to stop looking into Watergate. Two of the Justice Department's top leaders resigned in protest rather than following Nixon's directive to fire Cox. It became known as the "Saturday Night Massacre," an instance of the president using his power to punish political enemies within the Justice Department. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/la-ol-the-saturday-night-massacre-20170130-htmlstory.html Now the FBI director by trump President Trump has fired FBI Director James Comey, the White House announced Tuesday afternoon. "The president has accepted the recommendation of the Attorney General and the deputy Attorney General regarding the dismissal of the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation," White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters in the briefing room... The White House said that Trump "acted based on the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions" and that a search for a new permanent FBI director would "begin immediately." http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/332613-trump-fires-comey In a signed letter, Trump informed Comey that he was "hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately," explaining that he reached the conclusion that Comey is "not able to effectively lead the bureau."... "It is essential that we find new leadership for the FBI that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission," Trump told Comey in the letter. http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/09/politics/james-comey-fbi-trump-white-out/index.html
  6. Well, yeah. I probably should have added the qualifier that the whole admin has lied, repeatedly. Just not always under oath. It would be very interesting to get Trump testifying under oath. If I recall correctly he gets impeached if he lies under oath. And I think everyone here, regardless of your party or opinion, knows that Trump lies almost continuously. He lies so much that we've practically gotten used to just ignoring what he says and knowing that it's a lie and he's just going to lie the next day when he changes his mind but needs to lie about yesterday's lie. So why the F**k does everyone blame poor Sean. He needs crib notes to keep up with all the lying. He is going to need a psychiatrist for the rest of his life. Thankfully he's fully insured. Meanwhile: "Graham: 'I want to know more about Trump's business dealings' http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/09/politics/lindsey-graham-trump-business/ The South Carolina senator also reportedly said that getting hold of the president’s tax returns would be helpful to the effort, though he said it was too soon to talk about issuing a subpoena to the White House. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-taxes-probe-republican-investigation-lindsay-graham-a7726631.html
  7. Airline travel, starting to look like Christmas at Walmart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6rA6qzoBOM Lines are longer than usual. Hundreds of flights have been delayed or canceled during the past week. By Monday, frustrations boiled over for Spirit Airlines passengers in Fort Lauderdale. Police were called to quell fights that had broken out there between upset fliers and beleaguered airline employees. Videos posted by passengers showed a chaotic scene, with authorities doing their best to separate fighting fliers. The Monday evening incident erupted after Spirit Airlines abruptly canceled nine different flights, according to CBS News. But problems had been building at the carrier for the past week, with CNN saying nearly 300 Spirit flights have been canceled during that period. What’s the problem? Spirit Airlines filed a suit Monday against its pilot union, alleging “an unlawful job action by Spirit pilots.” https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/todayinthesky/2017/05/09/spirit-airlines-chaos-fights-erupt-cancellations-roil-carrier/101458876/
  8. Several of Trump’s critics have moved forward with legal action. The watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, filed a lawsuit alleging that Trump’s business holdings violate the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which makes it illegal for government officials to “accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.” CREW’s bipartisan legal team includes, among others, Norm Eisen and Richard Painter, who served as ethics lawyers under Presidents Obama and George W. Bush, respectively; Laurence Tribe, a constitutional law professor at Harvard University; and Zephyr Teachout, a professor at Fordham University (and former congressional candidate) who is considered an authority on the Emoluments Clause. All have been vocally critical of Trump’s continued refusal to sell off his business, and are now taking their case to court . https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2017/04/donald-trump-conflicts-of-interests/508382/ President Donald Trump has been sued 134 times in federal court since assuming the presidency in January, the Boston Globe reported Friday. That's nearly three times as many lawsuits as his three most recent predecessors combined, according to the Globe, and an average of more than one suit per day of his still-young presidency. https://mic.com/articles/176466/donald-trump-lawsuits#.zy7nMOF2X

  10. At first, Le Pen tried hard to ride Trump’s coattails, declaring the morning after his election that they were part of a global movement that would “bury the old order.” During the transition, she even visited Trump Tower (though she didn’t meet with the man himself). What she didn’t anticipate was the degree to which the spectacle of the Trump presidency had unnerved the French public. With about 80 percent of the French expressing a negative view of the American president, according to polls, Le Pen soon stopped mentioning him on the campaign trail. http://www.politico.eu/article/merci-for-nothing-donald/ Its called the kiss of death. Cosy up to Putin or trump and the results are the same. Video proof that Macron speaks better English than trump. Complete sentences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2PNLz5ml8A
  11. The votes are not all counted yet but they are saying 65.5% in favour of Macron. So it's official - France has said NO to the Nazi. Thank fuck. Well, maybe they learned from our lesson. The Dutch certainly did a couple months ago. Hopefully Macron will recognize why he was elected. Look at all the voters who turned away from the mainstream parties. Those that viewed Le Pen as an answer. A lesson from Venezuela on how not to be a trump: https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2017/01/20/culturejam/
  12. Saying NO requires judgement because in most cases you see the desire and want to help. It takes experience to know what can be done and what can't. Experience leads to better judgement, usually. Every instructor needs to have the idea that at some point they need to say, stop. Even ground someone and/or refund their money and say this is not for them. Usually the idea is that they will probably be OK. So no action is taken to stop it.

To be honest, I'm having trouble just keeping up with the insanity in the Trump administration. Where do they find these guys? Jerry Baumchen This won't make it any easier. Lets face it trump attracts flakes like flies to a warm pile of P**p! A former Kentucky campaign official for President Donald Trump is due in court on Friday after being charged with human trafficking in the U.S. southern state. 14. Perhaps Colbert should have used the name Julian Assange instead of trump for last Monday's joke.
  15. AFAIK that saying has nothing to do with homophobia. Its merely a new version of a old general insult. It was thrown in with a bunch of other fairly serious digs/jokes. The original story states Colbert noted Dickerson has too much “dignity to trade insults with the president of the United States to his face,” adding “But I, sir, am no John Dickerson.” And the audience roars with applause. Sometimes when jokes don't match the audience there is a smattering of boos, or disapproval. Colbert's audience is unanimously in favor of the standard anti-trump line of humor. in the past his jokes have been as surgical against the ant-gay Republican politicians. Who are regulars at putting their feet in their mouths. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC5qeJJq9jI
  16. No, it really does mean something. We have many strategic allies and they need to know that they're doing the right thing when they join our cause. There's a joke in Canada that Americans who don't want to join the US military to die for American politicians can come to Canada and join their military to die for American politicians. Our military is the strongest in the world but we can't do the job without our allies. We also have trade agreements, extradition treaties, immigration/emigration agreements. These are all things affected by what the world thinks of us. Take, for example, Australia's concern about our actions in Korea. We're not the only ones on the planet and in this case we're not in Korea's strike zone. There are plenty of other countries with an opinion or a path regarding NK and their opinion is not jack shit nothing. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/apr/29/australia-wants-to-avoid-north-korean-war-at-all-costs-pyongyang-trump-kim-jong-un "Speak softly and carry a big stick." Trump Isn’t Teddy Theodore Roosevelt was a brilliant intellectual. He entered the White House in 1901 as arguably the most prepared man ever to assume the presidency; his understanding of public affairs was as deep as a bottomless trench. His knowledge came from two decades of voracious reading (he devoured a book a day), incessant writing (he authored 20 books), and bruising political combat at all levels of government (when he coined the phrase “man in the arena,” he was describing himself). In contrast, Trump has spent his life accumulating personal wealth and has no record of public service to the nation. Measured against TR, the ultimate policy wonk and uber-patriot, Trump stands out as a Lilliputian opportunist, woefully shallow and ignorant... Unlike Trump, TR was a conservative with a long track record of aggressively fighting against radical leftists. While Trump has a long history of providing financial support to Jimmy Carter, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and other “progressives,” TR never in his life gave money to or supported a Democrat, not even a conservative Democrat such as Grover Cleveland, a man he admired. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/439463/donald-trump-no-teddy-roosevelt Though often recognized for the aggressiveness of his foreign policy, Roosevelt was also a peacemaker. His most successful effort at bringing belligerent powers to the negotiating table involved a crisis that had broken out in East Asia. Fighting had erupted between Russia and Japan in 1904, following Japan's attack on the Russian fleet at Port Arthur. As the Russo-Japanese War raged on with many Japanese victories, Roosevelt approached both nations about mediating peace negotiations. The President longed for a world in which countries would turn to arbitration instead of war to settle international disputes, and he offered his services to this end. Although Russia and Japan initially refused his offer, they eventually accepted his "good offices" to help negotiate a peace, meeting with Roosevelt in 1905 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. For his role as mediator, Roosevelt won the Nobel Prize for Peace, the first U.S. President to do so. https://millercenter.org/president/roosevelt/foreign-affairs Since its founding, the magazine has played a significant role in the development of conservatism in the United States, helping to define its boundaries and promoting fusionism while establishing itself as a leading voice on the American right https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Review

Repeatedly linking to it just reduces your credibility even further (if that were possible). any site you do not agree with you consider a junk site. But I do not post for you. I post for people with open minds who show others respect and like to learn for themselves. Just this month, nearly three-quarters of Americans (71%) said they favored protecting the environment over a focus on increased production of coal, oil and natural gas.... 59% of Americans agreed that protection of the environment should be given priority, even at the risk of limiting the amount of energy supplies, up from 41% in 2011. And 56% of Americans said that protection of the environment should be prioritized over economic growth.... But the second to last paragraph of that same story shows that Trump would win the popular vote against HRC today? He has got respect. 21. ‘Trump’s mouth is only good as Vladimir Putin’s c*ck holster’: Colbert brutalizes Trump in 2-minute blitz Stephen Colbert on Monday defended fellow CBS host John Dickerson against Donald Trump after the president told the renowned journalist he refers to the (award-winning) news program “Face the Nation” as “Deface the Nation.” “Donald Trump, John Dickerson is a fair-minded journalist and one of the most competent people who will ever walk into your office,” Colbert began during his opening monologue on “The Late Show.” https://www.rawstory.com/2017/05/trumps-mouth-is-only-good-as-vladimir-putins-cck-holster-colbert-brutalizes-trump-in-2-minute-blitz/ Personally I think so. Colbert is the late nite show that I watch. Since starting a regular monologue on trumps latest idiotic actions. he has taken over the #1 spot for US late night comedy shows. Deservedly so. trump acted like a complete idiot, as usual, in the CBS Dickerson interview. Absolutely an embarrassment for a president. Having said that i thought I would have to clean out my ears when I heard that line from Colbert.

  24. COLORADO SPRINGS — SpaceX saw significant cost savings by reusing a Falcon 9 first stage in a launch last week, a key factor for the economic viability of reusable launch vehicles. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell, speaking at the 33rd Space Symposium here April 5, said the company expects to see greater cost savings on future launches of reused Falcon 9 vehicles as the company reduces the amount of refurbishment work it does on the recovered stages. That cost savings, she said, came even though SpaceX did extensive work to examine and refurbish the stage. “We did way more on this one than we’re doing on future ones, of course,” she said... “Our challenge right now is to refly a rocket within 24 hours. - http://spacenews.com/spacex-gaining-substantial-cost-savings-from-reused-falcon-9/ China studying reusable rockets similar to SpaceX http://spacenews.com/china-studying-reusable-rockets-similar-to-spacex/
