  1. You're speaking metaphorically, right? Because the President doesn't have an actual line item veto authority after Clinton v. City of New York. I misspoke...er...misstyped. I meant "lying item venting" whereby trump lies about what he objects to and vents to everyone about it.
  2. Better harden up your northern border America. You'll need a big beautiful wall soon. http://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/canada-to-admit-340-000-immigrants-a-year-by-2020-under-new-three-year-plan-1.3659447 So it will rise 10% over a two year period, involve a total of about .9% of total population on an annual basis. as compared to Germany: BERLIN (Reuters) - The number of people with an immigrant background in Germany rose 8.5 percent to a record 18.6 million in 2016, largely due to an increase in refugees, the Federal Statistics Office said on Tuesday. Just over a fifth of the population - 22.5 percent - were first or second generation immigrants with at least one parent born without German citizenship, the office said... Germany took in more than a million migrants, many fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa in 2015 and 2016. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-immigration/immigrant-population-hits-new-high-in-germany-idUSKBN1AH3EP So Germany took in about 1.22% of its total population in a two year period, 2015-2016. But Germany took in real refugees as compared to Canada which picks the cream of the crop so to speak. Where about 2/3(195,000 of 330,000) are "The biggest increase in newcomers will be in programs designed to lure skilled labour to Canada". So Canada robs other countries of their best educated and highest skilled workers. In essence stealing the future from other countries. To benefit Canada's future and tax base. Oh, and trump is all the wall the US needs on the northern border. Trump's Win Spurs Rise In U.S. Students Applying To Canadian Schools http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/12/30/college-in-canada-after-trump-s-win-more-students-in-the-us-consider-it_n_13897060.html Trump, Brexit help Canadian universities recruit both profs and students https://globalnews.ca/news/3219653/trump-brexit-help-canadian-universities-recruit-both-profs-and-students/ Increasingly, foreign students are choosing Canada over US https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2017/09/16/increasingly-foreign-students-choose-canada-over/khkot6AYt9lakpIFLTNGvM/story.html Between 20% and 27% of international students became permanent residents in the 10 years following the receipt of their first study permit, depending on the cohort of arrival. International students from countries with a lower GDP per capita (such as India) typically had higher transition rates into permanent residence than those who came from countries with a higher level of GDP per capita (such as South Korea). Nearly one-half (48%) of immigrants who first came to Canada between 2000 and 2004 as international students applied as principal applicants in the economic class. This compared with 30% among those who were international students between 1990 and 1994. https://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/75-006-x/2015001/article/14299-eng.htm So Canada plunders about 1/2 of University graduates from the poorest countries after Canada overcharges them for their university studies. Yes Canadian universities charge foreign students up to twice the rates for enrollment as the rates for Canadian students. Canada should be labeled an outlaw pirate state.
  3. Well, he'd have to get past that little thing called "due process" and the "rights of the accused". And it's a bit amusing that after the Las Vegas shooting, it was "not the right time" to talk about guns and gun control. But he can instantly go after immigrants and Muslims after this. I'm thinking of "extreme vetting" gun owners.
  4. Hard to say yes or now on that one. trump calls her "Hopie" "Hicks boasts a rather cozy, father-daughter–style relationship with Trump . . . and is paid accordingly.Trump has a collection of cutesy nicknames for Hicks, including Hopester and Hopie (according to the Times, Hicks had a thank-you note from Trump in her office that read, “Hopie—you’re the greatest!”). She is roundly characterized as a veritable Trump whisperer (she reportedly knows not to disturb him when he’s watching golf), a confidante and right-hand woman who “totally understands” him, and a loyalist who has earned his complete trust, which he appears to dole out with the intensity of a mob boss. According to Politico, Hicks defended Trump at a wedding in Bermuda last year when she heard guests lamenting his election win, saying, “I promise, he’s a good person!” Unlike most every other member of his staff except Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, Hicks is believed to be “untouchable.” Hicks also makes the maximum salary for a White House staffer—$179,700, the same as chief strategist Steve Bannon."... per the Times, Hicks soon “found herself a near-constant presence by Mr. Trump’s side, flying in his jet, living rent-free in a Trump-owned apartment, and attending to his mercurial moods.” (Sounds like every woman’s dream job.) https://www.vogue.com/article/hope-hicks-white-house-communications-director
  5. Puerto Rico-Whitefish fiasco a byproduct of flawed DC incentives http://thehill.com/opinion/finance/358174-puerto-rico-whitefish-fiasco-a-byproduct-of-flawed-dc-incentives
  6. That's what I love about this reality TV show. If I were the writer, I'd use this investigation to make Mueller the greatest American hero of all time and smoke out the whole fucking lot of them - everyone - all the launderers and crooked lobbyists on both sides. In a "real world," Trump would fall, along with Hillary when all said and done . . .I mean, if those damning emails that Trump was trying to get his hands on really exist, then it's only a matter of time - and they'd both be history. Mueller for President - perfect ending. I LOVE the way you think. Sick Mueller on Wall street after he is done with Washington. Want to drain the swamp. Put special investigators in charge. Just to imagine that a lying, crooked, NY politician is going to clean up the political. Its a ludicrous idea. You could put 1/2 of the Washington politicians in jail just by looking at the private flights on lobbyists private jets that they fail to declare at full market value. "A recent poll published by the American Psychological Association finds 59 percent of Americans surveyed think this is the lowest point in the nation's history that they can remember. A slightly larger percentage, 63 percent, say they are stressed about the nation's future, according to the poll." http://thehill.com/homenews/news/358160-poll-most-say-this-is-the-lowest-point-in-us-history
  7. I haven't really been following this, but if there is something here in the "collusion emails" then it should all come out. I would love for these two political giant assholes to be put to sleep, permanently. It would humble us as a nation and allow a fresh start. . . wishful thinking? You should follow this and the story starts all the way back when HRC was Secretary of State and one of her primary tasks was to create better relations with the Russian government and foster business growth between the two countries. The Russians, however, had began a concerted effort (known as the Illegals program) to get within her circle. That initial effort failed with 10 Russian agents being arrested at which time the Russians realized they could do much more damage with technology. Think Magnitsky, a dead Russian Lawyer. What Really Irritates Vladimir Putin? The Magnitsky Act http://www.npr.org/2017/07/14/537247838/what-really-irritates-vladimir-putin-the-magnitsky-act When mass protests against Russian President Vladimir Putin erupted in Moscow in December 2011, Putin made clear who he thought was really behind them: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. With the protesters accusing Putin of having rigged recent elections, the Russian leader pointed an angry finger at Clinton, who had issued a statement sharply critical of the voting results. “She said they were dishonest and unfair,” Putin fumed in public remarks, saying that Clinton gave “a signal” to demonstrators working “with the support of the U.S. State Department” to undermine his power. “We need to safeguard ourselves from this interference in our internal affairs,” Putin declared. https://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/clinton-putin-226153 Putin hated Clinton. Putin supported Trump. Clinton battled every Russian attempt to subvert democracy in the United States and Europe. Trump, the greatest political beneficiary of the Russian aggression against democracy, denies the aggression is happening and calls investigations of the crime nothing more than fake news and hoaxes. http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/357504-as-russia-probe-gains-steam-remember-why-putin-hated-clinton-and http://time.com/4422723/putin-russia-hillary-clinton/ So its even more amusing when trump suggests HRC was doing the Russians a favor in any uranium deal. But hey, it works for trump's supporters who just don't know better.
  8. The far right is dealing with it. "Poll: Vast majority of Trump voters say he should stay in office even if Russia collusion is proven" "Nearly 80 percent of Trump voters said they think the president should stay in office even if collusion is proven between his campaign and Russia, according to a survey released Tuesday, even while support among all voters for his impeachment hits a new high." http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/357995-dem-pollster-vast-majority-of-trump-voters-say-he-should-stay-in "The emperor has no clothes. Most Americans knew this, but Monday’s indictments and guilty plea as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, start to lay bare the rest of President Trump’s associates’ nakedness — and guilt — on the issue of collusion." http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/357905-the-emperor-has-no-clothes What the above editorial assumes is that readers know what that saying means: "The Emperor's New Clothes" (Danish: Kejserens nye Klæder) is a short tale written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, about two weavers who promise an emperor a new suit of clothes that they say is invisible to those who are unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent. When the emperor parades before his subjects in his new clothes, no one dares to say that they do not see any suit of clothes on him for fear that they will be seen as "unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent". Finally, a child cries out, "But he isn't wearing anything at all!" The tale has been translated into over 100 languages.[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_Clothes Within the American political right there is a new era of thinking. A Kafkaesque world created by Bannon's thinking and trump's lying. Where his followers believe there is a path to prosperity for them. Only for them, not for the elites and not for Wall street. That doesn't exist. That if they just keep waiting for a bus, it will show up, but the bus has stopped running and will never arrive. Now the majority of Americans realize that the emperor is without clothes. They see the ugly nakedness of the emperor and look on like how the rest of the world views the emperor. But for the emperor and his followers. They only see a designer suit. The kind Manafort had a penchant for. That collusion with a enemy gangster state, Russia. Is an acceptable Faustian bargain if it will only bring back my job mining coal. https://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/30/paul-manafort-clothing-expenses-244326
  9. One of the most important factors in hiring someone is that they can do the job. But almost equally important is that they are not stealing, billing for work they don't do, sleeping on the job, not showing up at all, not loyal to the work they have to do. trump now has an approval rating of 33% as of yesterdays polling. No president has ever had a lower rating as at this time of their presidency. trump has hired among the worst of the worst and the indictments yesterday was just the start. trump has no loyalty to serving the citizens of the US, all the US. Creating laws, budgets, that will in fact turn the US around. Yesterday according to staff, insiders in the WH he himself used the term "hamstrung" to describe the investigation and indictments. Its a very accurate description and insightful as to his state of mind. It was also reported that Bannon told trump yesterday that it was time for a scorched earth policy towards the Russia investigation. Fight it with every tool that the president has. "It was clear from the beginning that Paul Manafort was problematic....Less than a month after his hiring, Bloomberg’s Eli Lake declared: “Trump just hired his next scandal.” How insightful a statement. Be it Bannon, Manafort, or the other staff and appointments now gone in the first nine months of his presidency. The chickens are coming home to roost. They are bringing back a whole new batch of fleas to infect his administration. This is supposed to be the week of tax reform. In order to get substantive amendments to the code through it needs to be sold to the electorate. Otherwise lobbyists will be the only parties out selling their interests. Once again trump has hobbled the republicans... er... hamstrung them and the republican agenda. But trump was never about making America GREAT again. That was just a clever slogan to sell to those disenfranchised by politicians. The drip...drip...drip of a Chinese water torture is coming for America. As the Mueller investigation unfolds over the next year. No one should celebrate. https://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/30/trump-manafort-campaign-indictment-republicans-244342 http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/357950-bannon-pushing-trump-to-take-action-on-mueller-reports
  10. Its somewhat stunning that she would go on and on with that stupid analogy. First its a lie posing a a simplistic example. Second, its length from the spokeswoman of the WH is simply retarded. On and on, just to poke fun at journalists, to distract and mislead. I guess if the purpose is to get people to tune off and tune out.
  11. and the answer to "What happens when climate change deniers study the science" They go green and take action: Hi John, Quote: Renewable energy is working Looks like coal is slowly but surely going into the ash heap of history: https://www.nbcnews.com/...ll-its-power-n814861 Jerry Baumchen The Mayor of St. Louis, "Texas Republican Mayor Pushes for Renewable Energy". So there is hope for the science of climate denial. When trump is in the ash heap of history.
  12. Twitter was on the way out until it became Trump's platform. I used to make a habit of exiting out of any news that quoted Twitter posts as a source. You and about two million other Americans in the first quarter of 2017 alone. Twitter shares tumble as user growth stalls
  13. When I look at society, specifically "western" society, I realize that pretty much everything positive about it is because of progressive liberalism - from paid vacation to social security to public education to police and fire services, (in my case) universal healthcare, capped work with, workplace health and safety standards, clean drinking water, clean air, etc etc etc. Good point. There is a word for all the things Ron stands for. The word is fundamentalism and it is evil in all it's forms. Well.... no. Ron has views that paint the political spectrum in black and white. If you'll pardon the pun. Not, necessarily in a racist way but instead either right or left. Without a middle ground. Not that he is unique. Thats part of the development of partisan US political system. Where super PAC's unduly influence who runs in primaries, radicalizes the nominees and primary election process. In addition, the benefits of "progressive liberalism" have been endorsed by conservatives and a equal credit MUST be given to free market economics. Otherwise you could equally argue communism and Marxist ideology deserve more credit for those same above mentioned benefits. IMO business like Amazon, Walmart and businessmen like Gates and Buffet. Operate and grow to bring new disruptive economies to the equal benefit of all. Only through economic growth, primarily through private business. Is the "progressive liberalism" benefits aforementioned, paid for. In western capitalist economies.
  14. Nobody, NOBODY, unites "trump conservatives" like HRC. At least the remaining 38, and shrinking, percent.
  15. Trump team’s response to Russia news: Focus on Clinton, leaks or anything else Caught off guard by reports of criminal charges in the Russia probe, Trump advisers sought to keep up their political attacks and divert attention from allegations of Russian collusion. https://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/28/trump-russia-clinton-mueller-244271
  16. I'm pretty sure that these lineman aren't being paid anywhere close to forty an hour. With the skill set, experience, and risk associated with this type of work it would not surprise me if the individual average rate breaks a buck. For certain the guys hanging from helicopters will get a premium. The link I posted shows a regular rate for journeymen to $80 an hour. But rebuilding the main transmission lines is a small part of the total job. Whitefish only had two employees at the time of the hurricane so its not like they are the ones in any safety harness. Certainly Whitefish isn't paying the linemen those rates. Thats the rates they are billing PREPA for each hour. The statements that the CEO makes in the story you post " The other contender: Power Secure wanted $25 million upfront to do the job. But Techmanski wasn't asking PREPA for a down payment. Plus, the Whitefish CEO was agreeing to take care of the logistics -- lodging and food for the hundreds of journey linemen needed to restore power, according to Ramos. After the hurricane hit, the state-owned utility could have requested aid through the American Public Power Association, a network that provides help to other utilities during widespread power outages. But the closest states to Puerto Rico were already dealing with their own rebuilding efforts after hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Ramos told CNN on Thursday. And he believed they would not be able to respond quickly to the island's needs. The bankrupt utility, which was wrestling with $9 billion in debt, also couldn't afford to cover the costs of utilizing the network either, he said." Make no sense. Its irrelevant that " PREPA's Ramos says PREPA is in receivership." Court protection allows new work to be exempted from any creditors. FEMA and the US army corps of engineers should have been involved as well. That a two man corporation is going to organize a $300 million dollar contract better than an effort through the "American Public Power Association" is a lie. That ID, CO, UT, doesn't have linemen in existing power companies with mountain experience defies belief. In addition most of the work is going to be old fashioned bucket truck work on the hundreds of miles of down lines. If PREPA didn't have the $25 million to upfront a competitors bid they could have gone to the receivership judge for a order to free up the money. I agree with the substance of your post. This just dosn't meet any smell test. It smells like a newly opened freezer in a meat store in PR that hasn't had power since the hurricane.
  17. The full text of the Whitefish contract is now publicly available, so all of its terms can finally be assessed. ... Here's What's In That $300 Million Whitefish Contract The contract shows those labor rates are pricey indeed: $240 an hour for a general foreman and $227 for a lineman. The per diems are also expensive: almost $80 a day for meals, and $332 a day for lodging. Employee flights are billed at $1,000 each way. For subcontractors, the bulk of Whitefish's workforce, the prices go even higher. A general foreman costs $336 an hour and a lineman, $319. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/10/27/560422492/heres-what-s-in-that-300-million-whitefish-contract Journeyman Lineman Salaries in the United States Salary estimated from 1,125 employees, users, and past and present job advertisements on Indeed in the past 12 months. Last updated: October 26, 2017 Average salary $39.02 per hour https://www.indeed.com/salaries/Journeyman-Lineman-Salaries
  18. "A deal reached between the government and a small Montana energy company located in Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke's hometown prohibits the government from reviewing labor costs or profits related to the company's relief efforts in Puerto Rico, according to a leaked copy of the contract." http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/357473-whitefish-energy-contract-bars-government-from-auditing-deal and from FOX News: "President Trump isn't responsible for Puerto Rico’s decades of corruption and collapse If any good is to come out of the devastation of Hurricane Maria, perhaps it will be that Americans learn that political corruption fed by high taxes and a bloated bureaucracy is a toxic combination. This is not Venezuela. This is a U.S. territory, and a struggling neighbor, which needs our help and a serious economic reboot." http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/10/03/president-trump-isnt-responsible-for-puerto-rico-s-decades-corruption-and-collapse.html Too late, so SAD, the contract has already been signed. "“Based on initial review and information from PREPA, FEMA has significant concerns with how PREPA procured this contract and has not confirmed whether the contract prices are reasonable,” FEMA said in its statement. “FEMA is presently engaged with PREPA and its legal counsel to obtain information about the contract and contracting process, including how the contract was procured and how PREPA determined the contract prices were reasonable.” http://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/357486-fema-has-significant-concerns-with-puerto-ricos-300m-power Just trump's idea of draining the swamp.
  19. Its a TV show. It has budget limitations. Like most, it will use conflict, bad-good guys, personal conflicts, SEX and death to create drama. Do you really expect a C-17 at 35,000' for the HALO sequence? All in all the scriptwriters have a good start. A little romance, sex, young upstart, old guard, good guys and bad guys. A comedian-SEAL operator might be a good addition. The script is written by a Hollywood person not a real SEAL. Although I'd guess they have one as a consultant. Fifty years ago it was a cowboy western. The bad guys were cattle thieves, killer drifters and the sheriff wore a white hat.
  20. This thread is about Russia, yes? As befits a mob figure. Putin hides his family away. Any implied reference to a famous unnamed US leader. Is merely coincidental. Yes believe it or not Putin has a family. He uses underlings to kill opponents. Uses other oligarchs to pay homage for his licensees to pillage Russian industry. Rather than operating openly and doing it himself. This gives him deniability, protection and obfuscation in operations. Just like he uses cyberwar for political advantage. The FSB training is not without credit. He parks his family, in all places, France. http://time.com/4816044/russia-putin-biarritz-protests-alexei-navalny/
  21. It has been my experience that Christians tend to be independent and generally do not seek counsel from their ministers or pastors. Those that do, from discussions with the aforementioned, are unsatisfied women and those who consider themselves religious. I seek reality checks from people whom I respect and value their wisdom. An example would be my fellow counselor's when I was employed. Another would be the pastor or elders in my church. Wow, Ron, I didn’t realise you considered yourself an unsatisfied woman I also thought that was rather insightful. I was raised in a Catholic family but now am atheist. Family members worked for priests in the church and I lived next door to a minister for years. By far the greatest amount of time is counseling church members on marriage, raising children, work, psychological counseling, etc.Any problem that a person can have professionally or personally. Some believe a minister preaches on Sunday and puts their feet up and relaxes for the rest of the week. "Unsatisfied women" well, I'm a not gonna touch that one but it may be insightful about Ron, the location of that congregation and its issues. Winsor makes reference about Scientology and I completely agree. Its not a religion. Its a self enrichment scam for leaders and insiders. A cult. What Winsor fails to understand about religion is that in general they do fulfill needs and provide guidance for many people. He fails to understand that there is a need to belong for people.A desire to have guidance for interpersonal relationships and understand a meaning in life. It provides explanations for life, death, social order, purpose, justice, redemption, afterlife possibilities, a commonality of social group, etc. Many religious groups provide enormous contributions in charitable work. Both locally and the world.
  22. Well you know that and it certainly meets the smell test for trump.
  23. Absolutely correct. They have done other stories on Russia and Putin. The kleptocracy dictatorship will be a burden on Russians until a free press and free opposition develops. Autocratic leaders with penchants for enriching themselves, their families and their supporters. Who corrupt, destroy, oversight and mechanisms that would expose these actions. Are enemies of democracy, freedom, the rule of law and the entire concept of a country's identity.
  24. How did we get from Harvey Weinstein to BigMacophobia ? The Swiss and the Germans like to use fact, logic and organization in their thinking process. No insult intended. Because of the rise of populist ideology in the US. Simplification is necessary to penetrate brain numbness. Very...very...simple analogies...excuse me, simple examples, ideas, in a different form, used to illustrate a point of argument, or view. Currently there is an ad on TV to reeducate some US adults. As to the difference between a banana and an apple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ei_sZyvHxs For yourself; therestiseasybecauseyou'reSwiss! SAD.
  25. " if approved in national law courts." From your own reference. UK law has president and these "tribunals" are subservient. Its the same as a USPA "court", NBA ruling, NFL suspension,NHL disciplinary action, etc. etc. If its subservient,if you agree personally to a ruling, its not the rule of the land, so to speak. State-national law, is. Anyway, go back to Breitbart if you need further self reinforcement of thinking.
