  1. Sort of an example as to why its worthwhile to hear these people out. The more they talk the stupider they sound. Until you finally just turn them off.
  2. Shooting at unarmed deer overcomes the stress associated with being shot at by an armed human? LE has done all kinds of studies about the stress of shootouts and the failures to hit the target. They have developed shooting simulators similar to what the military has. Where video is used on shooting ranges to develop shooting reflex memory. Obviously nothing is like the real thing. But the guy across from the church was able to outshoot the former USAF church shooter. Both armed with identical weapons. Believe it or not in hunting situations I've had bullets pass by me within 10-30' no less than 1/2 dozen times. There have been countless situations where homeowners have killed intruders in the US with guns.
  3. ftfy, i wouldn't be surprised if someone also managed to shoot themselves. perhaps you could have a role play session with nerf guns and let me know the outcome? I don't think that you've had enough exposure to guns. In most if not all rural areas of N. America. If you're a male you're around guns and hunting. Kids are started out with BB or pellet guns at 9-10 years old. Then work their way up in firepower. The first civilian to confront the Texas church shooter used a AR-15 from his home. The same weapon that the church shooter was using. He engaged the church shooter and shot him before he could get into his vehicle to escape. Shooting and marksmanship is not a skill unique to law enforcement. Like most skills all it takes is practice. In addition hunting tends to overcome the "buck fever" that is associated with shooting at live targets. Something that many, many urban law enforcement officers will never deal with. https://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/gun-nuts/2014/04/two-ways-deal-buck-fever
  4. This church shooting offers a good example of two concepts of thought, right or wrong. First its Texas where football, God, guns and freedom. Form the four corners to frame all thinking. There has been no talk there of gun control. Likely just the dialog of everyone's duty to protect each other, with a gun. I saw two different programs where journalists were interviewing residents about guns. Either directly or obliquely addressing gun control. None of the residents were in favor of it. The second is God, Jesus. What the more rabid atheists in these forums miss is the psychology of the human mind. Not forgetting that I'm a atheist. The function of God and faith in framing the thinking, psychology and frame of mind of "believers". One of the major networks interviewed the wife and pastor of the church that was attacked. They were away and their daughter was among the parishioners that were killed. The wife's statement to media was inspiring. Talking about love, compassion, healing and faith. Other residents of the church and community were similarly predisposed to forgiving to leaning on their faith to get them through the psychological pain of this event. Had it been most people it would more likely been how the USA farce screwed up in failing to report the felony conviction of the shooter to the FBI. Blaming the government for failing to fund mental health, etc. In sports the psychology of the mind is a very important component. Confidence and focus on the technical aspects of performance. Are as important or more important. Than raw physical ability. For people who are religious in nature or who use religion to frame their thinking. Use it as a coping mechanism for stressful events. Like these rural areas of Texas. Faith is an important coping mechanism. "In Texas, Almost Anyplace Can Be a Place to Carry a Gun SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Tex. — Some Texans bring their guns to church on Sunday and to the office on Monday. Students carry on college campuses in Texas, and foremen carry at the construction site. People carry in the Texas Capitol. They carry in their cars and on their boats. Republicans carry, and Democrats carry, too... Even being so close to the shooting on Sunday — one of the members of his church lost a relative at First Baptist — Mr. Curry said he saw the attack and guns as two separate issues. “I don’t blame objects for the good or the evil that people do with them,” Mr. Curry said. “Objects are not the problem. The problem is the evil that lurks in the human heart. Yes, the perpetrator used a gun, but he was stopped by a man with a gun.” “You can’t stop every incident,” said Homer Flores, 59, who lives in a Houston suburb and has had a handgun license for more than 20 years. “What if the ushers at that church had been carrying a firearm concealed, and this guy started opening up? He may have only gotten off a few rounds before they dropped him.’’ https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/06/us/texas-guns-church-shooting.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=b-lede-package-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news
  5. Which is a fucking ridiculous state of affairs. Where do we live; the Middle East? I think America is becoming numb to these events. Sandy Hook is but a distant thought.
  6. No, the new message is "Its a Mental Health issue". All unique to America.
  7. Of course there's a quid pro quo. Thats chapter three in trump's book "The Art of The Scam".
  8. I'm surprised that there was nobody armed inside the church. This is Texas and it didn't take long for the neighbor to arrive armed. There are many shooters that can shoot as good as the local cop. IMO most LE officers shoot enough to qualify on a annual basis. For them a sidearm is like a set of handcuffs, nothing more or less. Many shooters who shoot 2k-3k rounds a year can outshoot a local cop. Some avid shooters shoot that every month. Its my understanding that Ron is ex-military. So I'd give him the benefit of the doubt to outshoot the average nutjob that buys a ar-15. CNN reported that the Texas shooter sent his mother-in-law a threatening message that morning and it appears as if he expected her to be at the church.
  9. They will rationalize the cheating bitch because it's not about her, it's about the party. Eventually they will throw her under the bus because she is irrelevant to there in goals Throw her under the bus for what, exactly? I agree, what she and the DNC did is completely unethical, but at the moment it doesn't look like they broke any rules, unfortunately. She didn't cheat because she didn't break the rules. That's not the same as playing fair though. And to be honest, who cares about throwing her under the bus at this point in time apart from you extreme right wing folks? Like you said - she's completely irrelevant now. I'd much rather effort was put into current issues. The fact that you use the term 'bitch' to describe her shows how emotional you are about it (and hence how you are probably unable to make a rational argument). Maybe you should do what I've done - move on from Hillary. Just take a breath and let it go. She didn't win, she'll never hold another position of power. There are more important things to get angry over. Edit: If it turns out that she did break some rules, then I'm all for throwing the book at her without mercy. An example should be set IF she broke the rules. I can imagine some new rules being established to prevent this from happening again. Like you cannot take control of the DNC UNTIL you officially win the nomination. Anyway, my wife voted for Hillary, but now she wishes Hillary would just shut the fuck up and go away. She's the one trying to be relevant and stick around. Tell your wife she is right on the money. Hillary's reputation lost the election. It should have been a slam dunk, a world series grand slam, a Stanley cup hat-trick, a ...
  10. And that will help you.... how?? You're a quite old man (yeah I know, a PGR), do you really trust in your *reactions*? BTW: Is your god armed, too? Sunday AM when I got to church a few of the men were standing outside discussing the incident. We all agreed that if such an attack took place at our church the crossfire would be horrendous. Train to get on the floor immediately. We know we live in the end times where most of society is angry and afraid. They live with insane illusions of right and wrong. They act out mentally deranged solutions to non-existent problems. We trust in the Lord but we also take precautions. And that applies in all aspects of our lives as it has for all of recorded history. We use spiritual weapons against the spiritual powers. We use physical weapons when faced with clear and present danger. You might find this usefull. http://www.policeforum.org/assets/docs/Critical_Issues_Series/the%20police%20response%20to%20active%20shooter%20incidents%202014.pdf
  11. Rand Paul attacked last week in his home. The shooting at the republican baseball game. Gabby Giffords attack. The Vegas shooting(white-64 years old), yesterdays church attack(white-26 years old) and the almost unmentioned random Walmart shooting in Colorado(47 years white man). America seems to have an attack on its elected officials every six months, a mass shooting is almost a weekly event now. Meanwhile the motives of the Vegas shooter are becoming clearer: Portrait of Las Vegas gunman: A narcissist on a losing streak " deadly massacre in Las Vegas was a status-obsessed narcissist who had lost a “significant amount of wealth” in the last two years, something authorities now believe may have been a “determining factor” in the Oct. 1 attack." https://www.yahoo.com/news/portrait-las-vegas-gunman-narcissist-losing-streak-120720948.html Status-obsessed narcissists, white men who are on loosing streaks, seem to be dangerous.

  14. Republicans have tried to sell their tax plan using the argument that US tax rates are uncompetitive. That high US rates drive jobs overseas. That unless corporate rates change corporations will move overseas. FALSE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Competitiveness_Report#2017.E2.80.932018_rankings https://www2.deloitte.com/global/en/pages/manufacturing/articles/global-manufacturing-competitiveness-index.html https://www.weforum.org/reports/the-global-competitiveness-report-2017-2018
  15. Ya, I've heard a lot of crap like that. A couple that come to mind are "Global warming will cause 180,000 more rapes by 2099!" and "Global warming is directly related to terrorism!" Logic like that means solar panels reduce sexual assaults as well. I thought about commenting on those idiot comments by Perry but billvon beat me to it. Just more pandering by trump appointees.
  16. Yep. I just did a back of the envelope calculation and I will pay more as result of consolidation of the brackets and the removal of the state and local income tax deduction. More than that its a transfer of POWER from the local, states to the federal level. If the cities, local, states want to initiate a program or expand one . The total costs are borne by the state taxpayer with no federal deduction. So the feds can expand programs with tax deductibility but the states can't. This hobbles cities, municipalities and states rights.
  17. Typical trump Bull##it misinformation. The Megatons to Megawatts Program, successfully completed in December 2013, is the popular name given to the program which is also called the United States-Russia Highly Enriched Uranium Purchase Agreement. The official name of the program is the "Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the United States of America Concerning the Disposition of Highly-Enriched Uranium Extracted from Nuclear Weapons", dated February 18, 1993.[1] Under this Agreement, Russia agreed to supply the United States with low-enriched uranium (LEU) obtained from high-enriched uranium (HEU) found to be in excess of Russian defense purposes. The United States agreed to purchase the low-enriched uranium fuel. The original proposal for this program was made by Thomas Neff, a physicist at MIT, in an October 24, 1991 Op-Ed in The New York Times.[2] On August 28, 1992, in Moscow, U.S. and Russian negotiators initialed the 20-year agreement and President George H. W. Bush announced the agreement on August 31, 1992.[3] In 1993, the agreement was signed and initiated by President Clinton and the commercial implementing contract was then signed by both parties... Under this Agreement, United States and Russia agreed to commercially implement a 20-year program to convert 500 metric tons of HEU (uranium 235 enriched to 90 percent) taken from Soviet era warheads, into LEU (less than 5 percent uranium 235). The terms of the agreement required that it be implemented on commercial terms without government funds. The agreement named the Department of Energy as the executive agent for the US side https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megatons_to_Megawatts_Program I find it very difficult to believe that there are not Americans who are unaware of this program. It involves FIVE HUNDRED TONNES OF HIGHLY ENRICHED URANIUM. Read weapons grade material. Which makes the trump claims about HRC and uranium even more STUPID, with regards to scandal.
  18. Legal immigrants at least have a path to gaining voting and full citizenship rights, the same cannot be said for illegals. But getting back on topic, what rights other than voting do Canadian legal immigrants not have? And what additional rights do the illegal immigrants not have? Does the free healthcare for all truly cover all? Technically new immigrants have to wait three months for free dental, drug and comprehensive healthcare. Because of the current backlog in immigrant handling of applications that requirement has been waived. Once they have been given a hearing and denied immigration status. Technically they are cut off. But there are free health clinics in most cities after that. Most citizens are not entitled to free dental and most drug costs are not fully covered. So technically they have better benefits than Canadian citizens. Most illegal immigrants who are denied in their citizenship requests are given deportation orders. Mostly because they are economic migrants and that quota has been reached for the year. I use the term "illegal immigrants" as a descriptive term but under the Canadian immigration system there is no such term. They are merely people who cross the border, are arrested, apply for status, given free medical care, told where to go for accommodation and monetary help. Given security checks. Then released. Usually over a 2-7 day period. Depending on the point of entry. Regular immigrants apply for immigration before entering Canadian territory. Or are students who apply during or immediately subsequent to study. "More than 32,000 asylum seekers have arrived in Canada so far in 2017 On average, $15,000 to $20,000 is spent by different levels of government on each asylum claimant, a joint House of Commons committee heard Thursday... Typically, eligibility is assessed right at the border, but with the spike in numbers, some interviews have been delayed by several months. Hussen said there are now 2,000 people waiting for eligibility interviews, which is a decrease, and there are almost 200 interviews scheduled daily, up from just 30.... The federal government has also provided temporary health-care coverage to more than 5,600 people who’ve crossed the border irregularly at Lacolle who have not yet had an eligibility interview, according to MacDonald. Normally, the coverage isn’t available until a claimant has been deemed eligible for refugee status." http://nationalpost.com/news/politics/more-than-32000-asylum-seekers-have-arrived-in-canada-so-far-in-2017 Essential health care for refugee claimants in Canada is usually paid for by the Interim Federal Health Program, commonly referred to as IFHP. IFHP is administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). All IFHP beneficiaries are eligible for coverage from the date that the certificate of eligibility is issued by an IRCC or Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer. To be eligible for the IFH Program, an individual must not be a Canadian citizen, and must belong to one of the following groups: -Refugee claimants(among others) 1. Basic coverage Basic coverage is similar to what Canadians receive through their provincial or territorial health insurance plans. 2. Supplemental coverage Supplemental coverage is similar to what provincial and territorial governments provide to Canadians receiving social assistance. Coverage includes 3. Prescription drug coverage This coverage includes most prescription medications and other products listed in provincial and territorial public drug plans.http://www.legalline.ca/legal-answers/medical-and-dental-care-for-refugees/ Asylum seekers get health-care benefits first, eligibility questions later https://globalnews.ca/news/3690481/asylum-seekers-benefits-eligibility/ The second video in the story above describes the process.
  19. Ron has won a big victory. The House Republican tax bill released Thursday would allow churches to endorse political candidates, rolling back a 1950s-era law that bars such activities. http://thehill.com/policy/finance/358447-gop-tax-bill-would-allow-churches-to-endorse-political-candidates
  20. That statement and the one "Trump then said: "I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it, you can do anything... grab them by the pussy." Accurately frame trumps personality towards women. Wife #1- 17 years younger, #3-24 years younger. 21. How one woman’s defamation suit could shine a light on Trump's sexual assault allegations Her legal team is seeking documents on any woman who has accused Trump of inappropriate touching. https://www.vox.com/identities/2017/10/17/16483946/summer-zervos-donald-trump-defamation-lawsuit-subpoena Seems forgotten in all the hubbub of other harassment claims and admissions.
  22. You're speaking metaphorically, right? Because the President doesn't have an actual line item veto authority after Clinton v. City of New York. I misspoke...er...misstyped. I meant "lying item venting" whereby trump lies about what he objects to and vents to everyone about it.
  23. Better harden up your northern border America. You'll need a big beautiful wall soon. http://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/canada-to-admit-340-000-immigrants-a-year-by-2020-under-new-three-year-plan-1.3659447 So it will rise 10% over a two year period, involve a total of about .9% of total population on an annual basis. as compared to Germany: BERLIN (Reuters) - The number of people with an immigrant background in Germany rose 8.5 percent to a record 18.6 million in 2016, largely due to an increase in refugees, the Federal Statistics Office said on Tuesday. Just over a fifth of the population - 22.5 percent - were first or second generation immigrants with at least one parent born without German citizenship, the office said... Germany took in more than a million migrants, many fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa in 2015 and 2016. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-immigration/immigrant-population-hits-new-high-in-germany-idUSKBN1AH3EP So Germany took in about 1.22% of its total population in a two year period, 2015-2016. But Germany took in real refugees as compared to Canada which picks the cream of the crop so to speak. Where about 2/3(195,000 of 330,000) are "The biggest increase in newcomers will be in programs designed to lure skilled labour to Canada". So Canada robs other countries of their best educated and highest skilled workers. In essence stealing the future from other countries. To benefit Canada's future and tax base. Oh, and trump is all the wall the US needs on the northern border. Trump's Win Spurs Rise In U.S. Students Applying To Canadian Schools http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/12/30/college-in-canada-after-trump-s-win-more-students-in-the-us-consider-it_n_13897060.html Trump, Brexit help Canadian universities recruit both profs and students https://globalnews.ca/news/3219653/trump-brexit-help-canadian-universities-recruit-both-profs-and-students/ Increasingly, foreign students are choosing Canada over US https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2017/09/16/increasingly-foreign-students-choose-canada-over/khkot6AYt9lakpIFLTNGvM/story.html Between 20% and 27% of international students became permanent residents in the 10 years following the receipt of their first study permit, depending on the cohort of arrival. International students from countries with a lower GDP per capita (such as India) typically had higher transition rates into permanent residence than those who came from countries with a higher level of GDP per capita (such as South Korea). Nearly one-half (48%) of immigrants who first came to Canada between 2000 and 2004 as international students applied as principal applicants in the economic class. This compared with 30% among those who were international students between 1990 and 1994. https://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/75-006-x/2015001/article/14299-eng.htm So Canada plunders about 1/2 of University graduates from the poorest countries after Canada overcharges them for their university studies. Yes Canadian universities charge foreign students up to twice the rates for enrollment as the rates for Canadian students. Canada should be labeled an outlaw pirate state.
  24. Well, he'd have to get past that little thing called "due process" and the "rights of the accused". And it's a bit amusing that after the Las Vegas shooting, it was "not the right time" to talk about guns and gun control. But he can instantly go after immigrants and Muslims after this. I'm thinking of "extreme vetting" gun owners.
