  1. "The latest AOPA Air Safety Foundation Safety Highlights, now available, analyzes the safety record of the Cessna 182 Skylane in relation to a comparison group of six similar aircraft. The 20-page report finds the aircraft type both safe and popular... The accident record of Cessna's medium-size single in instrument weather conditions was better than the comparison aircraft group, with only 6.3 Skylane accidents per 100,000 hours flown in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) while the comparison group suffered a rate of 7.7 accidents per 100,000 similar hours... The Skylane was selected for the safety analysis because of its popularity. Some 13,000 Skylanes are registered with the FAA, more than any other model of four-place single-engine aircraft except the Cessna 172 Skyhawk" https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2008/october/03/asf-safety-review-finds-cessna-skylane-safe-popular
  2. Not that it is in anyway important to this thread, but the only thing F.W. de Klerk has in common with Trump is that that they are both white. PS. You need to work on on your sentence structure. All those full stops make for very difficult reading. Thanks for the critique. Poor structure arises when I'm listing to CNN on one channel, CNBC on another and wasting time here. Yes that was for Marc. I am a little unfamiliar with F.W. de Klerk's actual participation in sustaining the apartheid efforts. Especially as he was the last president. Just being lazy to throw his name out, but my point was trump loves to play the racial card.
  3. POSITIVITY! Thank you for posting something WORTHY! And to the others, Biting one's tongue is a tough choice. Choose to be better. While I agree with your comments, Divermike has it right. If someone is reading these posts on a small screen device or phone. Long paragraphs are a nightmare to comprehend. Back to the thread. Yes direct drive AC engines be it Continental or Lycoming. Are very reliable. Not as much as a turbine. But thats another discussion.
  4. trump would not be stinking his orange nose into this matter. Unless it met the narrative of personal profit and profit for trump Enterprises.
  5. Given that trump supporters threatened the life of the judge in the recent Manafort trial. This should surprise nobody. Meanwhile trump is advising "Christian leaders" that dems and leftists are threatening violence in the upcoming elections. Soon trump will unveil his new WH-NRA website. Overnight .556 bulk packs of MAGA ammo. With free delivery.
  6. I agree Marc provides useful insight into the thinking of trump supporters. Too bad Ron isn't posting his views as frequently. IMO trump cultists view republicans and democrats. As socialist hordes, Blacks, brown and yellow people. On the east and west coasts of America. Closing in on the last bastions of white Christian values. Which by definition are the only true American ones. Lies, facts, the mistakes and faults of trump. Are but background static. Like F. W. de Klerk, the last white leader of South Africa. trump stands up to a demographic which assaults their values. trump's values are not values to make America great. Instead they serve to build fences, walls and barriers. To protect his base. Its a bare knuckle fight, take no prisoners and the winner takes all. Lies, manipulation of the law and courts. Is nothing less than a eye gouge in a street fight. Entirely fair as long as the opponent is put out of action.

    John Mc Cain

Old school. Truth, straight shooter. Now with the new crop of trump cultists. Forget compromise. White House flags return to full staff less than 48 hours after McCain's death http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/403734-white-house-flags-return-to-full-staff-after-mccains-death Mccain, Hero for all Americans to look up to....................trump, white trash, soon a convicted felon in NY,NY courts.
  8. I hope this doesn't quash that Nobel Peace Prize, the Dotard was counting on. Remember when he and his son in law. What was that guy's name??? Was going to solve middle east peace as well as his road to the Nobel peace prize. Trump cuts more than $200 million in U.S. aid to Palestinians https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-palestinians/trump-cuts-more-than-200-million-in-us-aid-to-palestinians-idUSKCN1L923C As for the real nomination . Like everything trump its fake. Donald Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nominations ‘forged’, committee says https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-nobel-peace-prize-nomination-forged-fake-police-fbi-investigation-a8238286.html
  9. Second Fox News reporter leaves network this month http://thehill.com/homenews/media/403403-second-fox-news-reporter-leaves-network-report "On-air senior correspondent Adam Housley has decided to leave... According to Politico, he told other former employees that it is difficult to get "hard reporting" on air because of the network’s focus on President Trump and its number of political commentators... Jerusalem-based correspondent Conor Powell announced earlier this month that he is resigning after 9 years with the news network. “Conor was growing increasingly embarrassed by the channel, by the positions, by the relentless blind defense of Trump,” a friend of Powell told Politico. “If you’re overseas and doing important work like Conor was, you can certainly focus on the work and tell yourself, ‘Hey I’m doing important things and I’m just going to focus on this and ignore all the rest.’ But it just became impossible to ignore." Not that "news" has been part of Fox for the last five years.
  10. you're right on Wendy. Given that he's given completely opposite stories in the last 2 months it's hard to take anything that he says with anything less than a grain of salt Rush, really? Trump has contradicted himself in the same breath. Do you agree that he is also unreliable? Many trials feature unreliable witness, multiple convicted felons. Mob trials are almost always like this and in the absence of FBI tapes. Its up to judges or juries to make "sense" of the lies. trump's statements on Fox offer true insight into the minds of his supporters. Crimes matter not, it only matters that you remain loyal to fellow mob members. Loyalty above the law. Did I say mob, I meant tribe, er... cult.
  11. It appears that witch hunts can really turn up witches from time to time. Tax evasion is theft from the American people. What do we make of the judgment of someone who calls a guy who defrauded the American people out of $millions . . . “a very good person.” mmmm and the reason why trump never released his tax returns. Cohen has much to tell about trump's crimes. Mueller may know some of them right now. But trump likes to brag, scamming is a way of life for him and his family. IMO it goes back to what Bannon said when he departed the WH. Bannon's big reveal in new Trump book is 'all about money laundering' http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/commentary/ct-trump-money-laundering-kushner-20180105-story.html Of course Putin knows all about every transaction as well. Its Russian money.
  12. Australia Wilts From Climate Change. Why Can’t Its Politicians Act? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/21/world/australia/australia-climate-change-malcolm-turnbull.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news SYDNEY, Australia — Mile after mile of the Great Barrier Reef is dying amid rising ocean temperatures. Hundreds of bush fires are blazing across Australia’s center, in winter, partly because of a record-breaking drought. The global scientific consensus is clear: Australia is especially vulnerable to climate change. And yet on Monday, Australia’s prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, abandoned a modest effort to reduce energy emissions under pressure from conservatives in his party. And on Tuesday, those same conservatives just missed toppling his government. What on earth is going on? Australia’s resistance to addressing climate change — by limiting emissions in particular — is well documented. If Mr. Turnbull is turned out of office, he will be the third Australian prime minister in the past decade to lose the position over a climate dispute. Will the US ever reach the position where presidents are booted from office because of climate change? California is burning. The eastern US is regularly flooded. But cheap gas and coal is the rule of law and thought.
  13. To be a christian, on the other hand, requires only that one strive to act in the manner Christ acted. No imaginary friend required. ^^^^^^^^^^ THIS Just as there are Muslims who are not. There are Christians who are not. 14. The poll actually still speaks to the substantial base of the trump cult. Of supporters like Marc. Mueller will likely get north of $20 million in tax penalties and interest from the Manafort trial. Which will likely pay for his investigation to date. As long as the effects of a $1.5 trillion theft from the children of America. Slushes through the economy like so much crack in the veins of an addict. As long as trump supporters ignore the damage of the international train wreck. NK nuclear, Turkey, Iran nuclear, trade wars, his base will remain. Marc isn't the brick wall, ignorance is. With 37 percent thinking its an effort to discredit trump. Thats the number who don't follow the disclosures from the trump clan of misfits itself. Their dialogue went from "there is no Russia". To its not a crime. trump dosn't need to address the NK nuclear issue. Because his base dosn't care. Most Americans don't follow any foreign policy issues. Kim will keep expanding his nuclear delivery program. The republican guard of the Iranian government will begin to formulate responses. In Yemen, in Iraq, in Afghanistan. To teach America a lesson for trump's actions. Turkey will have additional responses besides banning Apple phones. The next time trump wants Turkish support for a Syrian issue or Iraq issue. Its leader like trump relishes payback. The US will become a new punching bag for all of Turkey's problems. Sound familiar? Every dictator needs enemies to blame its failures on.
  15. Perhaps not, but you'll find few educated people without one. LOL And it's really easy to find a whole bunch of educated idiots The best supporting argument for Marc is trump's Wharton degree.
  16. That would come under Don Jr's trial and trump's impeachment. Then Trump's subsequent trial prosecuted by the NY attourney's office.
  17. Yet for some its the rear view mirror that colors their perceptions of what they see in the windshield.
  18. You need to diversify your sources of information. What's next for Paul Manafort? "Most notably, the longtime GOP operative still faces a second federal trial slated to begin in mid-September in Washington. And that case, accusing Manafort of money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent while lobbying for the government of Ukraine, could be even more challenging." https://www.politico.com/story/2018/08/13/whats-next-for-paul-manafort-774312
  19. He did crash on an island that does have several houses. Fortunately he didn't hit any of them. Chalk that up to luck. and $10-20 million used https://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/1442537/2010-bombardier-q400
  20. Nobody can say that with certainty. Marc, your post on job skills shows you're no dummy. Yet you only see politics in black and white. Its as if positive and negative ruled everything without any shades of grey. Why have so many republicans abandoned the party because of trump? People who stand for less government. Why has Jeff Sessions refused to obey trump's orders re ending the Mueller investigation? He could UN-recluse himself so to speak. He was one of trump's strongest supporters. Someday you will see that there is a middle ground of thought. Reflect on the damage trump has done to America.
  21. Twenty five percent of Americans think the same way as Marc. Likely he is but midstream in his ability to parrot the trump cult views in his own way. At trump rallies there are still many willing to appear behind him, on stage and cheer his racist, his idiotic economic ideas. Sure Marc trolls, but more than fifty percent of everything out of trumps mouth is trolling. The balance direct appeals to his base.
  22. You give me too much power. Ephesians 6: 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. I am simply one of the watchmen on the wall. You're not the only one apparently. Researchers: Fear of America losing Christian identity motivates many Trump voters http://thehill.com/hilltv/what-americas-thinking/401323-pollster-fear-of-america-losing-christian-identity-motivates
  23. Bingo. Thank you. I find it interesting that people are blaming the guy with the gun for the actions of the thief. Even if the guy with the gun had been brandishing it on approach to the car thief, it still would have been assault/attempted murder to try to run someone down. There are lots of cases where someone drives quickly towards a cop (or more than one), maybe not even directly. They often get shot. The cop 'feared for his (her) life and responded with deadly force. Sometimes it's apparent that the driver was trying to run over the cop, others it's pretty clear they weren't, but were just trying to get away. Certainly thats a possible narrative that justifies lethal force. When I was in my 20's I shot IPSC with a 9x21, CZ75. At that time a guy by the name of Massad Ayoob was the "guru" for the shooting community. He wrote regularly on the use of lethal force. I read most of everything he wrote on the subject for several years. If you're not in LE. Lawyers will be up your ass if you shoot someone. You will pay and pay if the shooting is not inside your home. The more you study the subject the more an intelligent person would tend to leave a concealed weapon, concealed and unused. https://massadayoobgroup.com/ He authored a book on the use of lethal force. This was a paragraph from the criticism of his book: "My only criticism of the book, and it’s a tiny one, is that I wish Mas would have commented on the pro’s and con’s of retaining competent public relations counsel to try to manage the post-gunfight narrative and supplement a strong legal defense. Otherwise, this book is all in the ten ring." Are you ready to cash up a $5-10K retainer, post shooting for a team of media lawyers?
  24. That's Jeff Sessions announcing his task force and that's what we are up against. I'm also pretty sure that I'm one of the many that didn't detect said dangerous movement. Must be my tin foil hat needs tuning. No matter if I, or anyone else, likes it or not it may already be too late. With the courts packed with right wingers who have lifetime appointments, and with decades of social progress eroded or destroyed by the likes of Sessions and others, having Trump in the rear view mirror may not matter. Whether or not yo's that blindly love Trump and their own ignorance can spell, answer asked questions, or get their facts in order is probably the least of our troubles. Don't forget Jeff Sessions stood up to trump re Mueller. Give America credit. The time of trump will end and the pendulum will swing the other way. IMO this is a wake up call. Politically active concerned citizens will answer the call for equality and justice. The democrats have seen a wave of women, gays, Muslim women, etc. All entering politics. Hopefully the pendulum will not swing the other way too far, or too fast. Sure thing, everyone will come to their senses and not vote for the next Jill Stein. Those folks are more responsible for Trump as President than the Russians or Hillary's many faults, I believe. Then there are also the folks who didn't want Trump but didn't vote for Hillary because she had it in the bag nationally or in their state or because FUN! We might have had a better shot at fixing the electoral college ridiculousness if she had won the popular vote by a few million more. There would be a number, right? If naught else we still have geologic time to fall back on, that's longer than lifetime appointments. Or maybe space aliens will turn Mar-a-Lago into a scorched spot as a wake up call. Take that, you knuckleheads! And by the by when is the next season of Deadwood? I think it's too glib to wait on a pendulum swing when innocent lives are being hammered during their one lifetime. Right wing authoritarianism is ascendant worldwide. Every one of those places is a place of wide income disparity and civil oppression. It's not about not giving America credit, it's about the law of large numbers. In this case it's that we have such a large number of dipsey-doodles with voter registration cards. Well a lifetime is but four years. trump reminds me of Silvio Berlusconi, former Prime minister of Italy. Except trump is far more corrupt and far more dangerous. Most of what trump has done can be undone. Yes hardship for prospective immigrants, children of immigrants, uninsured Americans in need of health care, etc. etc. Has been done. To date a trade war is the only war he has started. For the SC appointments made by trump. The story has yet to be written on that. Appointments before have not necessarily turned out to be the political point men hoped by republicans or democrats. Gorsuch may be one of the judges to bite trump in the ass. He is a 'law and order" judge and tends to view white collar criminals and criminals in general. Without sympathy or qualms about punishment.
  25. Or, in the absence of the "A guy with a concealed weapon". The car thief would have just fled the scene without striking the woman. Because obviously he didn't have a gun. That he was in fear for his life and that led to his fevered actions in fleeing the scene. The post from wolfriverjoe re the dangers and financial costs associated with shooting someone. Needs to be front and center. Suppose the car thief has no money or assets and the woman is seriously injured by the fleeing thief's actions. Bring in some lawyers who discover the armed man has assets. Did you read what was posted? If I'm reading it correctly, the thief tried to run the woman down before the gun was pulled out. That is, the thief was confronted by someone not holding a gun, attempted to escape by running someone over (twice), then the citizen produced a firearm. And the idea that the interior of the car was ruined because the thief's brains were splattered all over it is sorta silly. If he was dead, he wouldn't be facing charges. I won't disagree that confronting thieves is often dangerous. It's not a good idea. This citizen will likely be dealing with this for a while. Lots of time and lots of money to get through it. Also, I did a quick search and found nothing that matches the story. Got a link? Aaaaaah Yeah. I don't believe the narrative that the thief was so motivated to flee prior to the display of a firearm. If he was in his own car, presumably the car theft angle was already over. In the absence of better reporting. I'd say the brandishing of a gun motivated the thief to strike the woman as he fled the scene in his own car.
