  1. Global warming. i.e. drought in Argentina.
  2. Thats because he got the midterm briefs. They contained a unique calcium/collagen mixture that builds up around the spine.
  3. US farmers letting crops rot as storage costs rise due to China trade war https://thehill.com/policy/finance/417803-us-farmers-letting-crops-rot-as-storage-costs-rise-due-to-china-trade-war The farmers say they are unable to sell their grain to China due to Beijing's 25 percent tariff on U.S. soybeans. That punitive measure came in retaliation for duties imposed by Washington. It is now too costly to store the grain in elevators, or silos that store grain, Reuters reported. The cost of storing grain in elevators is reportedly two to three times more than it cost at this time last year. “I’ve never seen things this bad,” soybean farmer Russell Altom, who is senior vice president of agricultural lending at an Arkansas bank, told Reuters. “I know several farmers who hired lawyers, to see if they can sue over the pricing and fees issues.” Grain farmers have begun plowing under crops or leaving them to rot, hoping that prices will decrease soon, Reuters reported, citing interviews with more than 20 farmers, academic researchers and farm lenders." MAGA, more winning.
  4. I don't necessarily disagree with most of what you're saying. But i would make two points. 1. Nothing that trump has done is going to help autoworkers. Nothing. Given that many voted for him, my sympathies are limited. 2. As per my previous posts. US automakers are all aiming for the exact same market segments. Trucks, SUVs and crossovers. trump, republicans and [GM, Ford,Chrysler(Fiat)] have one idea of trade Barriers, tariffs, etc. While the rest of the world, California(similar states) have this: EU lawmakers want 40% cut in new car and van CO2 emissions by 2030 https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/fleet-industry-news/2018/10/03/eu-lawmakers-want-car-and-van-manufacturers-to-cut-co2-emissions-40-by-2030 Beyond that, you don't study annual reports to see the future of industries. Thats what industry analysts are for. GM was wise to exit the EU. That market seems to be beyond the comprehension of GM executives. But then trump, republicans and their supporters don't comprehend the rest of the world either.
  5. They didn't have anything to do with the GM restructure in progress. The brands being discontinued have had sales dropping 15-20% over the past years. By shutting down those brands, related facilities and trimming the workforce GM is getting as much cost out of the operation as possible. Happens all the time in industry with adjustment to changing consumer demands. Production shutdowns were a regular thing when I was in pulp and paper. Will those facilities reopen and produce new consumer demanded vehicles after further R&D? Possibly, but probably not for a few years. Depends on what happens with self-driving, electric, and fleet vehicle markets. That is partially correct. GM Cuts Jobs And Plants To Deal With Changing Tastes And Trump Tariffs https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidkiley5/2018/11/26/gm-cuts-jobs-and-plants-to-deal-with-changing-tastes-and-trump-tariffs/#5a9040c96057 It costs allot of money to open a auto assembly plant. They typically develop a huge nearby base of suppliers of parts and components. Many of which are located nearby. When a auto assembly plant is shifted to a new model the lines are retooled. Reorganized to take advantage of new technology and equipped with the metal stamping, painting and assembly process unique to the new models. It costs billions to shutter plants. There is the cost of severance of employees and the write off of the land, building, auto specific plant process, etc. Once closed they almost never reopen. Many of the employees will never work in a auto assembly plant again. GM to invest $877 million to overhaul Flint, Michigan, truck plant "In the past, GM and its domestic rivals would shut down production for weeks to retool for new models, stockpiling vehicles in advance and then discounting them once the new model appeared. People familiar with the company’s plans say GM’s next-generation pickups and SUVs will make use of various materials, including aluminum and lightweight steel, to shed weight and gain fuel efficiency to meet tougher federal standards. Assembling the new vehicles will require substantially different equipment than the tools GM uses today." https://www.reuters.com/article/us-gm-trucks/gm-to-invest-877-million-to-overhaul-flint-michigan-truck-plant-idUSKCN0Q91IK20150804 So at a cost of, perhaps, $1 billion per plant GM could have retooled these plants for new fuel efficient sedans for offshore markets. But it has chosen instead to compete with the other two of the "Big Three" legacy US auto makers for the same US markets of trucks and SUVs. Instead there will be layoffs. Think trump. Ford is remaining in the EU despite slim profits. GM lost billions, upwards of $20 billion.Hence its exit from EU operations in 2016-17. Fiat Chrysler is gaining market share with some profits.
  6. and: 1. Where is the tremendous benefit of the $1 trillion in tax cuts for American business. trump said it would drive a rebirth of US manufacturing. 2. Where is the tremendous benefit of the elimination of US: a. Trump administration moves to revoke Obama-era fuel economy standards https://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/trump-administration-revokes-obama-era-fuel-economy-standards-n896846 b. Automakers spent months lobbying the Trump administration to weaken the EPA’s clean-car standards. But they’re not sure they wanted them that weak. https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/08/car-industry-trump-epa/566738/ Europe and Asia are not going to buy gas guzzling US built trucks and SUVs. That have zero emission standards. The only overseas market for them is the oil rich Arab states and trump country in the central US. trump had the opportunity to join a free trade zone in the EU together with Canada. CETA: A progressive trade agreement for a strong middle class http://www.international.gc.ca/gac-amc/campaign-campagne/ceta-aecg/index.aspx?lang=eng But trump and his clan don't believe in free trade. So instead of GM converting these plants to build small fuel efficient autos for the EU markets and Asia. To take advantage of #1. aforementioned. There will be layoffs. trump could have signed a free trade agreement with: Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) https://international.gc.ca/trade-commerce/trade-agreements-accords-commerciaux/agr-acc/cptpp-ptpgp/index.aspx?lang=eng but as in the preceding paragraph. "There will be layoffs." GM could be taking advantage of a weak US dollar to drive exports. But instead a $1 trillion dollar deficit is driving up the dollar because the US needs to finance that on world bond markets. That would be the trump/republican $1 trillion deficit. So "There will be layoffs." Hope that helps.
  7. Looks like Manafort's plead deal just died. Manafort Breached Plea Deal by Repeatedly Lying, Mueller Says https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/26/us/politics/mueller-paul-manafort-cooperation.html Prosecutors working for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, said Mr. Manafort’s “crimes and lies” about “a variety of subject matters” relieve them of all promises they made to him in the plea agreement. But under the terms of the agreement, Mr. Manafort cannot withdraw his guilty plea. Pathological liars just can't help themselves. Birds of a feather..... The only person in trumps entire administrative history who is not a pathological liar is Mattis. With Kelly lying enough to warrant scrutiny.
  8. You need to fact check before you spread FOX talking points. GM posts strong 2017 despite losses "General Motors Co. was the only Detroit automaker to post a net loss in 2017, down $3.9 billion as it adjusts for the new tax law and takes one last hit from the money-losing European business"... GM characterized as a “transformative year” comes as part of an industry-wide evolution, said Karl Brauer, an automotive analyst for Kelley Blue Book. He said automakers will have to be smart about adjusting to shrinking sales volumes — especially in the U.S. — after years of record-breaking sales and a consumer return to lucrative trucks and SUVs that fattened profit margins. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/general-motors/2018/02/06/gm-annual-earnings/110146218/ Ford Betting Big on Trucks, SUVs and Hybrids https://www.thestreet.com/story/14524435/1/ford-betting-big-on-trucks-suvs-and-hybrids.html Fiat Chrysler's bet on Jeeps and trucks lifts quarterly profit https://auto.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/passenger-vehicle/uv/fiat-chryslers-bet-on-jeeps-and-trucks-lifts-quarterly-profit/61213577 FCA has been retooling some U.S. factories to boost output of sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) and trucks while ending production of some unprofitable sedans to boost profitability in North America, where it makes the lion's share of profit. So every NA. automaker is going to chase trucks, SUVs, and crossovers. While scientists release multiple reports on global warming. Sounds about right. Where the rubber meets the road: America’s Aging Vehicles Delay Rate of Fleet Turnover http://energyfuse.org/americas-aging-vehicles-delay-rate-fleet-turnover/ - US auto buyers are driving vehicles longer on average mostly due to cost and increased reliability. Now at 12 years. -New vehicles as a proportion of the overall fleet is at historic highs.

  10. More winning, MAGA. trump just finished negotiating the new NAFTA...er... the United StatesMexicoCA trade accord. Another victory for his supporters. Guess GM didn't get the message because there is no layoffs in Mexico. More layoffs in the US than in Canada. MAGA, leadership by trump. Today he is tweeting that he is permanently going to close the US Mexico border. That would certainly help US manufacturing with $1.68 billion in trade every day. Trump Aide: GM's Warning on U.S. Tariffs Is 'Smoke and Mirrors' June 30, 2018 http://fortune.com/2018/06/30/peter-navarro-gm-tariffs/ An aide to President Donald Trump dismissed as “smoke and mirrors” complaints by General Motors Co. and other American companies about the impact of U.S. tariffs on their operations. White House trade adviser Peter Navarro’s comments followed GM’s stern warning to the Trump administration on Friday that it could shrink U.S. operations and cut jobs if tariffs are broadly applied to imported vehicles and auto parts. “Increased import tariffs could lead to a smaller GM, a reduced presence at home and risk less — not more — U.S. jobs,” the nation’s largest automaker said in comments submitted Friday to the Commerce Department. Skip to five months later: So much winning. trump will be attacking GM via tweets later today. Must distract the cult. Mueller...must distract.
  11. American missionary killed by remote tribe leaves behind diary: 'I hope this isn't one of my last notes' https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2018/11/23/american-missionary-killed-remote-indian-tribe-diary/2090325002/ An American missionary who traveled to an off-limits remote tribe in the Bay of Bengal left behind a diary that detailed his desire to evangelize the people who killed him. John Allen Chau, 26, was killed by arrows, police said this week, after traveling to the Andaman Islands in North Sentinel, an Indian territory. In a diary shared with The Washington Post by Chau's mother, the adventurer from Washington state tells of how he "hollered" at the isolated tribe: "My name is John, I love you and Jesus loves you." The entry also shares how a child shot at him with an arrow that pierced his waterproof Bible. Indian government regulations forbid interaction with the Sentinelese, who are known to shoot arrows at outsiders. P.C. Joshi, an anthropology professor at Delhi University who has studied the islands, said the isolated tribe has little resistance to diseases and could die from contact with outsiders. “You guys might think I’m crazy in all this, but I think it’s worthwhile to declare Jesus to these people,” he wrote in his last note to family, the Post reports. "God, I don’t want to die." “Why does this beautiful place have to have so much death here?” he wrote in a diary hours before his death. “I hope this isn’t one of my last notes but if it is ‘to God be the Glory.’ "
  12. Yes and wars will be the result. NATO joins the Pentagon in deeming climate change a threat multiplier A new NATO special report concludes that climate change is the ultimate “threat multiplier”—meaning that it can exacerbate political instability in the world’s most unstable regions—because by intensifying extreme weather events like droughts, climate change stresses food and water supplies. In poor, arid countries already facing shortages, this increased stress can lead to disputes and violent conflicts over scarce resources. As the report concludes: https://thebulletin.org/2017/05/nato-joins-the-pentagon-in-deeming-climate-change-a-threat-multiplier/ It would be a mistake to think that decreased population in less industrialized countries. Would mitigate long term changes due to a reduced worldwide human footprint. Poor countries are not substantial contributors to climate change now.

A number of suspicious deaths went before that. In 2009, a deputy GRU chief was found washed up on a Turkish beach. In 1997, a major general fell out of a window. In 1996, a top officer was run over by a car. And in 1992, a deputy head of the agency was killed in a car accident. ... Sloppy intelligence lapses were uncovered by online investigative journalists, and this led to revelations about the probable identities of several hundred active agents. ... Much more important, says Golts, was a change in Russia’s military posture in 2012, first signalled by the newly-installed chief of the general staff, Valery Gerasimov. “Gerasimov’s new doctrine ended the distinction between states of war and peace, and envisaged the GRU playing a leading role in a new endless, non-linear war,” he says. “Almost as soon as the GRU lost focus on its traditional targets, the failures began.”

Trump administration officials are considering a request from Saudi Arabia and its ally, the United Arab Emirates, for direct US military help to retake Yemen’s main port from Houthi rebels. 17. Pentagon: Troops at U.S. Border to Cost About $210 Million http://time.com/5460825/pentagon-troops-border-210-million/ WASHINGTON — Using thousands of military troops to help secure the Southwest border will cost an estimated $210 million under current plans, the Pentagon told Congress on Tuesday, even as questions arose about the scope and duration of the controversial mission.... The total would grow beyond the current combined estimate of $210 million if the active-duty mission is extended beyond the current completion date of Dec. 15. Officials said an extension appeared likely but had not yet been agreed upon.... About 2,800 of the active-duty troops are in South Texas, far from the main migrant caravan in Tijuana, Mexico, south of California. The movement of the Central American migrants into Mexico in October was the stated reason that President Donald Trump ordered the military to provide support for Customs and Border Protection.... Trump said he was sure the troops are happy to be on the border mission, even though it means being away from home over Thanksgiving. “They know what they’re doing and they’re great and they’ve done a great job. You’re so worried about the Thanksgiving holiday for them. They are so proud to be representing our country on the border where if you look at what’s happening," Why migrants won’t see armed US troops on the border https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/11/18/migrants-wont-see-armed-us-troops-on-the-border/ No combat pay. Little electricity. Troops on border just waiting for caravan. "Instead of football with their families on this Veterans Day weekend, soldiers with the 19th Engineer Battalion, fresh from Fort Knox, Ky., were painstakingly webbing concertina wire on the banks of the Rio Grande, just beneath the McAllen-Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge.... Come Thanksgiving, they likely will still be here. Two thousand miles away, at the Pentagon, officials privately derided the deployment as an expensive waste of time and resources, and a morale killer to boot.... The troops will not be enforcing U.S. immigration law — that would run afoul of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, unless a special exception is made.... Men and women have set hours for bathing. 21. Well ya, especially when this country is mostly comprised of white people. You're more likely to get killed by whites in white areas, and more likely to get killed by blacks in black areas. It's interesting how the media likes to talk about the disproportionate numbers when it comes to cops killing blacks, but then ignore the disproportionate numbers when it comes to the amount of gun violence committed by blacks along with other crimes in general. The numbers are also disproportionate when it comes to domestic violence, rapes and murders of black women. To me, the latter is a more important issue so that we can finally address the problem of systemic racism in this country along with other issues that are contributing to the problem. We can continue to focus on how the white gun toting christian conservatives are all fucked up, but it's not going to change the relatively higher rates of violence in black neighborhoods while the overall trend of violence in this country has consistently been on the decline over the past 30 years or so. . . But: White Students are Now the Minority in U.S. Public Schools https://www.publicschoolreview.com/blog/white-students-are-now-the-minority-in-u-s-public-schools So do you think that the "browning" of America will increase or decrease the use of guns in the commission of crimes? i.e. one variable on one subset of criminal acts.

" the Vermont independent introduced the Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies Act, which hits companies that have more than 500 employees with a 100 percent tax on some government benefits its workers receive, like public housing, Medicaid, and food stamps. For example: If the Stop BEZOS Act were to pass, McDonald’s would be taxed $100 every time one of its cashiers collected $100 in food stamps. The bill is designed to force large corporations to increase wages, and to raise awareness about how companies benefit from public welfare, even in a healthy economy."
