  1. Well I hope that this doesn't derail you're thread Wendy. But it seems as if the Bubba's in Florida have a new political sponsor: Florida bill would allow schools to teach alternatives to climate change and evolution 'A new bill proposed in Florida would allow school districts to teach alternatives to “controversial theories” such as human-caused climate change and evolution. State Sen. Dennis Baxley (R) sponsored the bill because he said that schools need to have the ability to teach “different worldviews,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.“Nothing is ever settled if it’s science, because people are always questioning science,” Baxley told the news outlet. “If you look at the history of human learning, for a long time the official worldview was that the world was flat. Anything you now accept as fact comes from a perspective and you learn from examining different schools of thought.”
  2. "Trump insists Sims — an Alabama native who previously worked on the Trump 2016 campaign – was never in his inner circle, he “feels duped by a guy who he trusted,” said a person close to the White House. In the book, Sims described how he worked with Trump to create what Sims calls an “enemies list” of suspected leakers. Sims “creates a list of leakers which turns out to be the people he doesn’t like, and the guy who makes the list turns out to be the million-dollar leaker,” said a current White House official. A person familiar with the matter confirmed that Sims had received a seven-figure advance for the book, a fact that the New York Times first reported in November. The person close to the White House also noted that: “The president’s been warned about lots of hires that shouldn’t have happened, and he’s still hired them.” The White House had no public complaint when Sims departed last year. In a statement to an Alabama news outlet, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said: “Cliff Sims was a valuable member of President Trump’s team on the campaign and for 15 months in the White House. I worked with him on both and he is talented, smart, and worked hard for the President." "We know that the father of lies, the devil, prefers a community divided and bickering," That is a rather astounding statement. Because it is undoubtedly directed at trump. Because his bible thumping base of evangelicals and delinquent enabling churchgoers. Continue to license and encourage Lucifer. At the same time, enjoying tax deductibility for their cult of worship.
  9. What he and his similarly minded followers don't realize. Is that lying and lying under oath. Have consequences. That theft and fraud have consequences. trump and his followers. The new entitled geriatric generation.
  10. Ann Coulter ✔ @AnnCoulter Good news for George Herbert Walker Bush: As of today, he is no longer the biggest wimp ever to serve as President of the United States. 7,318 1:55 PM - Jan 25, 2019 "Coulter has long been thought of as someone Trump looks to as a gauge of public support amongst his conservative base. She said last month — right before the shutdown began —that she would not vote for Trump again in 2020 without a border wall. " Coulter blasts Trump over shutdown deal: 'Biggest wimp ever to serve as president' Who will Ann, Marc, Ron, et al, vote for now??? America just became a very dangerous place. What about MS-13? What about the new caravan just formed in Honduras? All those little brown people, with small hands, that don't even speak English! Trump: “A Lot of People Say” George Soros Is Funding the Migrant Caravan
  11. Damn straight. Then take their oil at the same time to pay for everything! Little brown people don't need oil anyhoo! If they can't speak English they don't need oil. Trump: We should have taken Iraq's oil
  12. Agree. Mueller indictments are more important than any actual report. What if additional wrongdoing is ascertained that requires investigation and it delays the "report" by Mueller to 2020? Charges before the courts are adjudicated and defended. When the matters are resolved by dismissal, or more usually, by terms of incarceration. The rubber is on the road for all to see. Congress, the house have important duties to fulfill in accordance with the constitution and the sworn duties of those members. They can't wait for Mueller. What the Mueller report will do is fill in the blanks between indictments. It will point the law at trump. If Mueller is reluctant to test, personally, the constitutional protections of the presidency against indictment(s).
  13. "Smoke" may be real, caused by a fire. Or illusionary, caused spin, false information, distraction and speculation accepted as fact. Its up to critical minds to see through the "smoke', er spin. Thats the very nature of politics and critical debate.
  14. For Marc, trump and the cultists. its all about deflection, distraction.. Imagine a baby is crying because it fell over while learning to walk. You make funny faces, the baby is distracted, the crying stops.
  15. You have posted again and again in this thread and others, that the statistics quoted are "meaningless". Presumably most of the people reading these forums are smart enough to ascertain fact v spin. With some noted exceptions. Why don't you make an effort to support a specific opinion? A position in the debate which you refuse to define. Support for your position defined by using outside credible sources. Sources which you specifically quote. To make statements otherwise is nothing less than moot. To stir the direction of debate in obtuse directions.
  16. " The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/oct/08/global-warming-must-not-exceed-15c-warns-landmark-un-report "A Facebook post said that Obama shut down the government in 2013 to force Obamacare. There are a couple of key differences between then and today. First, leading Republicans, including Ryan, noted that Obamacare largely would move forward even if some elements were defunded. In that sense, Obama was not fighting to "force" Obamacare, because he didn’t need to. Second, in 2013, two issues, Obamacare and the debt ceiling, were on the table. In 2018, funding for the wall stands alone. In 2013, a compromise on the debt ceiling cleared the way to reopen the government. There is also a legal difference. In 2013, Obamacare was already law. Funding for the wall is not. The situation in 2013 was more complicated than today. Obama, like Trump, aimed to protect a favored policy. But he also wanted to raise the debt limit, an issue of at least equal importance. We rate this claim Half True." Obama 2013 and Trump 2018. Are the shutdowns the same? Not exactly Oh well 1/2 right out of two ain't bad!

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Revenge of the Millennials The Democrats’ major economic initiatives tend to favor the young at the expense of the old. A politician that believes that young working people should have equal rights to representation. ...The same as old rich white men. That and old white men who couldn't be bothered with education but who still feel they deserve $40-60 an hour. As long as they can keep those brown border jumping bastards. That want those same no-longer existent jobs. I won't compare her to President Regan. But all he had going for him was a BA an a acting gig. But he had integrity, vision and a ability to motivate. That will trump a degree from Wharton any second of the week.
  20. Yet for the sole new member of the congress that is not beholden to special interest money. The one who doesn't toe the party lines of the leadership. You had this to say about her: " I disagree, sort of. She's a lightweight. No degree other that an undergrad from a good school, no real professional chops, just some experience in education and political social justice issues. I do agree that Republicans are going after her because they think she represents all that is wrong with millennials and yes, they're playing up the points you cover. 23. Saudi Arabia May Have Helped Man Facing Sex Assault Charge Flee Canada A 28-year-old Saudi man was facing sexual assault and confinement charges in Canada when the Saudi embassy posted his bail and, all of a sudden, he disappeared. Mohammed Zuraibi Alzoabi, a 28-year-old man, who was residing in Sydney, Nova Scotia, was charged with a litany of crimes including sexual assault, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon uttering threats, and criminal harassment for two separate incidents that took place in between 2015 and 2017. After his arrest, a bond of $ $37,500 was posted by the Saudi Arabian embassy for the one-time student at Cape Breton University. Last week, when Alzoabi didn’t appear in front of the court and that money was forfeited. It’s assumed that Alzoabi was somehow able to jump on a plane to his homeland—a tough feat considering authorities had confiscated his passport. How did he do it? As one prominent immigration lawyer explains, the Saudi embassy from Canada may have played a prominent role. “In order for this guy to leave Canada without a passport, it had to be facilitated by the Saudi government, or some government, and there’s no reason to believe that any other government would put themselves in this position,... This seemingly isn’t even the first time that Saudi Arabia has helped one of their citizens flee a country where they are facing charges. According to Oregon Live, in 2017 the Saudi consulate posted a $100,000 bond for Saudi national facing charges regarding a hit-and-run that killed a 15-year-old girl in Portland. Two weeks before he was supposed to go to trial he climbed into a black SUV, was driven to a private airport, cut off his ankle monitor, and disappeared. A prosecutor on that case told HuffPost that in their tenure for a long time an embassy putting up the bond for a citizen was unheard of but that’s starting to change.... Oregon Live reports that there have been upwards of five cases of Saudi nationals having their bonds posted by their embassy and then fleeing. These include two alleged rapists, one man with child pornography on his computer and two people involved in hit-and-runs.” and from another story on Mr.Mohammed "Jessica Hines, the manager of Kevin's Towing in Sydney, Cape Breton, described al-Zoabi as "rude, obnoxious and thought he was above women and the rules". "First time I met him consisted of him coming into my office and snapping his fingers because I didn't greet him quick enough as I was busy," Hines said. "I immediately marked my dominance by telling him, 'I don't jump for men when they snap their fingers at me', and made him sit and wait for near an hour." Between March 2012 and April 2016, al-Zoabi racked up 34 infractions ranging from speeding, driving uninsured, driving without a valid license, unregistered and uninspected vehicles. Unpaid to this day, the fines amount to $68,967. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/01/canada-saudi-accused-sexual-assault-disappears-trial-190113100702857.html
  24. While I don't discount the humor of this piece. It plays upon a certain lack of accuracy with regards to heritage, DNA and race. Mexicans of European descent or European Mexicans, are Mexican citizens of complete or predominant European descent.[8] While the Mexican government does conduct ethnic censuses on which a Mexican has the option of identifying as “White”[9] the results obtained from these censuses are not published. What Mexico's government publish instead, is the percentage of “light-skinned Mexicans” there is in the country, with it being 47%[4] in 2010 and 49% in 2017.[10] Due its not as direct racial undertone, the label “Light-skinned Mexican” has been favored by the government and media outlets over “White Mexican” as the go-to choice to refer to the segment of Mexico's population who possesses European physical traits[11] when discussing different ethno-racial dynamics in Mexico‘s society. Sometimes nonetheless, “White Mexican” is used https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexicans_of_European_descent
