Ah! a true trump supporter. Never admit failure, never admit you're wrong, never accept a truthful narrative. Perhaps the Japanese victims are to blame for not running away from the radiation fast enough? Perhaps the Japanese victims are to blame for not buying and taking their potassium iodide pills immediately.

So how much coal does a Chinese power plant use if its not operating? Is there a point you're making about Chinese waste and poor planning. Or are you selling a moot point?

Is it Time for an Alex Jones reckoning for Donald trump?
Phil1111 replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
IMO existing laws are sufficient to bite trump in the ass and the quote to trump put the bullseye where it belongs. Quite right but there are consequences to malicious lies naming individuals directly. Which existing laws can address. The second link in the first post most accurately identifies the maleficence. -
Do you ever read what you post? Or is it all troll, troll? This is a direct quote from the link you posted: "This is all despite significant overcapacity in the sector, with more than half of coal-power firms already loss-making and with typical plants running at less than 50% of their capacity."

Is it Time for an Alex Jones reckoning for Donald trump?
Phil1111 replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
"At a rally in Fort Worth, Texas, in February 2016, Trump vowed, “I’m going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money. We’re going to open up libel laws, and we’re going to have people sue you like you’ve never got[ten] sued before.” In March 2017, he claimed in a tweet that “The failing @nytimes has disgraced the media world. Gotten me wrong for two solid years. Change libel laws?” And in October, he complained that it is “frankly disgusting the press is able to write whatever it wants to write.” He raised the issue again in January 2018, contending that “Our current libel laws are a sham and a disgrace and do not represent American values.” -
The mean age of nuclear reactors is over 30 years. China has not planned any new reactors for four years.Once nuclear’s strongest booster, China is growing wary about its cost and safety.

Alex Jones has faced serious legal liabilities for his infowars Sandy Hook lies and libel. An initial judgement of $100k for legal fees arising from: "Mr. Jones has used his platform to spread the false narrative that the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax or “false flag,” an event staged by the government as part of an effort to confiscate Americans’ firearms, and that the parents of the children killed were “crisis actors.” trump has used the office of the presidency to lie, and slander many Americans without consequence. Now he has decided to use that office to attack Joe Scarborough. Through a series of lies, tweets, all designed to defame Mr.Scarborough. Perhaps a $10-$20 million dollar judgement against trump would modify his mouth and tweeting fingers? Perhaps its time to name FOX news as co-defendant for assisting the spread of libel and slander under the guise of "freedumb of the press"?

The Three Mile Island Unit 1 nuclear reactor shutdown, which is set to begin no later than Sept. 30, will take nearly 60 years and $1.2 billion to complete. Fukushima Deaths1 cancer death attributed to radiation exposure by government panel. In 2016 the government increased its cost estimate to about $75.7 billion, part of the overall Fukushima disaster price tag of $202.5 billion. The Japan Center for Economic Research, a private think tank, said the cleanup costs could mount to some $470 billion to $660 billion, however.Mar 9, 2018 In August 1986—at the first international conference on the Chernobyl disaster—the IAEA established but did not make official a figure of 4,000 deaths as the total number of projected deaths caused by the accident over the long term

Obama Bribed Iran $400 Million Trump has repeated the lies as recently as December 2018, when he tweeted: “The Democrats and President Obama gave Iran 150 Billion Dollars and got nothing, but they can’t give 5 Billion Dollars for National Security and a Wall?” More trump lies swallowed by his cadre of yes boys.

Don't forget bullying, intimidation, grandstanding and making Americans look like fools once again. Trump threatens Twitter with ‘big action’ On another note FOX news has disclosed a truthful fact! Fox's Perino presses Trump official on Scarborough tweets: 'How does this help the president win?' "There’s these ongoing tweets from the president and comments from the White House about the tweets in regard to Joe Scarborough and the intern that died in the office," Perino, a former George W. Bush White House press secretary, said. "The coroner said she had a heart defect that was undetected until she had actually passed away. And the president continues to tweet about this and talk about this and I wonder, from your perspective at the campaign, how does this help the President win an election in November?" Murtaugh responded that he thought "most Americans have a clear understanding of the way President Trump uses Twitter." "He’s got a long-standing feud with Joe Scarborough. I don’t think that’s a secret to anybody else," he said." Feuding vendettas, vengeful attacks, slander, innuendo, all of the actions that evangelicals and his base love about him.

This one "The Heritage Foundation rejects the scientific consensus on climate change.[69][70] The Heritage Foundation is one of many climate change denial organizations that have been funded by ExxonMobil.[69][71] The Heritage Foundation strongly criticized the Kyoto Agreement, which was intended to curb climate change, saying American participation in the treaty would "result in lower economic growth in every state and nearly every sector of the economy."[72] The Heritage Foundation projected that the 2009 cap-and-trade bill, the American Clean Energy and Security Act, would result in a cost of $1,870 per family in 2025 and $6,800 by 2035; on the other hand, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office projected that it would only cost the average family $175 in 2020.[73]?

Come-on its distraction and new scapegoats. China, China, China.

When understanding complex issues like the Open Skies Treaty its important to consider the source of opinion. The quote above is from "TRT World is a Turkish state international news channel ...However, the network has received criticism in the West for failing to meet accepted journalism ethics and standards for independence and objectivity, with some commentators calling it a mouthpiece or propaganda arm of the Erdoğan administration.[11][12][10] According to Reporters Without Borders, Turkey in 2020 ranked 154th out of 179 countries in press freedom.[13]" With regards to whether Russia has broken the treaty or not I would take the word of "Chris Ford, assistant secretary of state for international security and nonproliferation," one of trump's own government directly involved in the issue. A republican with very impressive credentials. Over that of a Turkish opinion piece with a US government record of actionable bias. So I'll repeat again "Ford acknowledged, are “not in fact violations of the treaty.” trump has used lies to walk away from treaties before. The lies that he told with regards to Iran violating the nuclear accords are well documented. In fact the EU abided by the accords after the US violated its word in that treaty. By US I mean trump."The move is especially striking because even Trump administration officials have previously said Iran is complying with the accord." Further to the US violation of that agreement "Bolton also rejected the idea that the U.S. was violating its commitments to its allies" I suspect that Stephen Miller is behind the Open Skies pullout just as he was behind the Iran accords withdrawal. Typical trump and American plan. Barefaced lies, scrap any written agreements, screw over any allies involved in the equation. Expect respect.

Veterans are traditionally republican voters. As the old saw about them goes never a defense bill that they didn't like. For many with a history within the family of service its republican or nothing. Especially so with the last couple super-size defense bills. IMO his support within the military started downward with attacks on McCain and support for Flynn. Then add the Kurds, Iraq, Ukraine, Syria, N. Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. Loss, after loss, after loss. Perhaps its a good thing that trump didn't end up in Vietnam as there are too many names on the wall already. Imagine trump's lying, bumbling stupidity in a shooting war.

I like polls because individuals can represent narrow segments of a group. Half of active-duty service members are unhappy with Trump, new Military Times poll shows Military Times December 17, 2019 Do you think Donald Trump is helping America? Personal comments about trump on the VA.org website.

Like a quarter that after 10,000 tosses lands and stands on its edge. It had to happen eventually. You and I agree on something. First of all trump isn't a republican in any traditional sense. Eventually the republicans will put forth a presidential candidate with a brain and a willingness to compromise. They are out there.

Sure, "What “full compliance” means, however, is unclear. Chris Ford, assistant secretary of state for international security and nonproliferation, told reporters there are “many variables” as to what that would entail, particularly as a number of American complaints about Russian activities involve behaviors that, Ford acknowledged, are “not in fact violations of the treaty.” As an example of the latter, Ford pointed to restrictions on flights over Kaliningrad. Russia has in the past restricted the length of flights over the city, which is not a direct violation but contradicts the confidence-building nature of the agreement, Ford said.... Critics of the treaty have argued that the U.S. gets better intelligence from satellite systems and that the funding to replace the aging OC-135 aircraft can be spent elsewhere.... “If you’re Russia, you can stay in and take the moral high ground, say, ‘We still honor international treaties, even if America doesn’t,’ or you can say the treaty is diminished beyond usefulness and you pull out. I don’t know which they’ll do, but neither is good for NATO," the source said. The source added that while it is true the U.S. gets its best intelligence from its satellites as opposed to OC-135 flights, focusing entirely on that is “selfish” because “a lot of NATO allies rely on Open Skies for visibility into what goes "on in Russia.” How a US withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty would benefit the Kremlin The U.S. Will Ditch The Open Skies Treaty. That’s a Bad Idea. Finally "Withdrawal would constitute yet another blow to arms control inflicted by the Trump administration. It left the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding Iran. It refused to seek ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (even though it seems to see no reason for nuclear testing). It eschewed political and military steps that would have increased pressure on Russia to return to compliance with the INF Treaty. It so far refuses Moscow’s offer to extend the 2010 New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, which expires in eleven months. Trump over the past year has said that he wants to go big on arms control and negotiate an agreement with Russia and China covering all types of nuclear arms, but his administration has yet to offer a proposal or even an outline for doing so. A decision to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty would provide the latest evidence that he sees little point in arms control." "Since 2002, the US has undertaken three times as many reconnaissance flights over Russia than Russia has over the US. In 2019, Washington conducted 18 flights out of a maximum allowed of 21, whereas Moscow carried out 7. In 2020, the US is expected to reach the upper limit of 21....On May 12, the European Leadership Network think tank published an open letter signed by several high-ranking NATO ex-generals that called upon the Trump administration to continue complying with Open Skies. It further appealed to the European powers to “make every effort to remain in the treaty, even if the United States withdraws.” Typical trump, he knows nothing of what he does. The NATO partners of this treaty who don't have the satellite capabilities that the US has will be left to the representations of the US. Which trump has shown is frequently laced with US self serving barefaced lies. Like Middle-east peace, trump has gone full cowboy. Burnt every bridge, screwed every ally. For no gain. and sorry for the turtle crack last week. That was uncalled for.

American culture has become a war of the tribes. trump promised to break everything and thats what his tribe voted for. Four years is a long time but it seems as if the war has brought about some casualties. beside the rule of law, tossing aside every environmental regulations possible, pandering to special interest groups, etc. "Still, some cracks were apparent: Less than half (46 percent) of self-described conservatives, for example, said they’d definitely vote for Trump in 2020. What’s more, 17 percent of those voters said they’d definitely vote for someone else. " The aforementioned quote is from a good read. So trump has already lost 17% of the voters that carried him to a win, with a loss of popular vote. Once again those are GOP voters. Having said that you have a valid point. Americans rightly or wrongly view their government with suspicion. The entire constitution is to protect people from the government. As though other governments and constitutions enprison their populations. As though other nations, the EU states for example have people without the exact freedoms that Americans have. I'd suggest that with a change of government the US will learn from its populist experiment. The damages done however may take some time to repair.

54% of GOP voters say they’ll definitely vote to re-elect Trump,

Another company destroyed by trump. Soon he will have destroyed more companies than the lies he's told. Well almost. 'according to data from the American Bankruptcy Institute. I was so very very hopeful and nowtrump has apparently thrown away that hope.

You're onto something there. trump is a salesman by nature and for some people they've never seen a product that they would not buy. If the packaging was attractive to the eye, it looked as if it was free and solved every problem they never knew they had.

There are three main reasons why your dad is wrong.Fukushima, Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. Engineers tend to emphasize mechanical- technical rational process. Political, liability insurance, cost overruns, consumer resistance are not factors quantifiable to some engineers. Those same aforementioned reasons are why hydro is a tough sell.
