A few ideas... Depending on the laptop, you can "condition the battery." See if yours came with software to do that. Uninstall/reinstall the battery monitor - this helps sometimes, makes the system aware. with the system plugged in, do a BIOS upgrade, if one is needed. (Assuming a PC.) Hope one of those helps!
