  1. Oh, God, what I wouldn't give for a bottle of Red. This whole "let's stay off alcohol until the marathon" idea was a really, really stupid idea. 60 days down. 77 days to go. Sigh. I don't know what I hate more - That I came up with this idea, or that I'm forcing myself to stick with it because I hate being a quitter. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 2. I'm just taking it easy for a change. Cleaning the apartment, playing with the cats, ordering something in, maybe watching a movie... who knows. Anyone else? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  3. Yeah? You'll hook me up? Sweet! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  4. Just looked at it. Nice car. Surprising power and pick-up. Definitely considering. Thanks to all for the suggestions!! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  5. New car needed. Something I can drive more than 4 months a year. Something with room. Something that doesn't look like I'm compensating for something. (Because I'm NOT, bitches.) Ideas? I like this Jeep... _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  6. The Kobe Beef Skewers, the Rock Shrimp, and the Asparagus Spears. Yes, it's expensive, but one of the few in Manhattan actually worth it. Go for dinner and splurge. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  8. I dare you to download "Defying Gravity" from the soundtrack to "Wicked," or "Pity the Child" from the soundtrack of "Chess," run to it, and not speed up. It's all about the kind of music that works - for some, it's death metal. For me, it's Broadway - as well as Kid Rock, and about 75 other artists, from pop to jazz to techno to metal. And yes, I know you were just giving me shit, just thought I'd put the dare out there anyway. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Been there, done that. T-shirt wasn't even that good. Feel better, sweetie, or I'll upload that "interesting point of view" photo you sent me. :D
  10. M6. Actually thinking of moving away from the BMW... The 645 was awesome, but I wasn't so impressed with the service from any local dealership... _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  11. That is SUCH a great video! Even though you were out, it looks like you had SO much fun!! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  12. Get a haircut. Stand up straight. Wipe that smirk off your face. /schoolteacher. Got the haircut. Working on standing up straight. Smiled instead of smirked. Sir, yes sir. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  13. This next comment is not directed at MotherGoose, but people wouldn't be so afraid of Cross-Country jumps if they spent more time flying their canopies and less time worrying about getting back. Get up there and pull high more often and learn what sort of range your canopy has. High pulls are not to be feared and they are a great way to not only learn more about your canopy but they are a great way to enjoy the incredible view from up there. Agreed - In Scott Miller's class, he had us go 2 miles out, hit deep brakes at a 5k h/p, and float home. Made it with tons and tons of altitude to spare. I was amazed. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  15. No idea. Maybe I'll buy a jeep. Maybe I'll catch the car as it's thrown from the Skyvan. Maybe I'll hitch. Or ride my cat up to the Ranch. Who knows. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  16. Swap-A-Lease did its job, and the transfer occurs on Friday. So I'm out of the lease. And car-less. For now. I was mature, and decided I couldn't justify the lease payments on a car I don't use that much. Maturity sucks. Fuck maturity. I'm gonna miss my car. So give me some damn sympathy, and don't try and figure out how to turn this into a "Peter's Gay" post. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 18. Was running the central park loop today instead of murdering someone (relatively good trade-off, more or less) and a song came on my iPod that I haven't heard in eons. It's from an off-broadway show called Closer Than Ever. Show ran from 89 to 90, and is still one of my top five Broadway/Off Broadway shows. Anyhow, was listening to the words today and realized that the entire last lyric in the last song of Act 1 could be about Skydiving. Totally made me think of my first jump yet again, and why I continue to love this sport. The show is about 4 people reaching middle-age-dom and realizing what they've done and haven't done with their lives. It's quite good, and it takes a lot to make me rave about musical theatre, if only because most of what comes out nowadays is total shite. Either way... The lyrics to the last verse of the song "Next Time/Wouldn't Go Back," from the Original Soundtrack to Closer than Ever. Music and Lyrics by Maltby and Shire: WELL, WHA'D'YA KNOW? WELL, WHA'D'YA KNOW? THE UNIVERSE SHAKES THE FIRMAMENT SPINS THE GROUND IS ABOVE THE SKY IS BELOW I'M FEELING THE BARRIERS CRUMBLE AND FALL I'M NOT EVEN SURE WHERE I'M HEADING AT ALL I'M MOVING AHEAD AND I'M GAINING A PACE AND I'M FLYING THROUGH TIME AND I'M OUT INTO SPACE IF SOMEONE TOLD ME EVEN JUST A WEEK AGO THAT I WOULD FEEL THE WAY I FEEL RIGHT NOW I WOULD HAVE SAID "IMPOSSIBLE, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!" MEN BUT HERE I AM AMAZED TO FIND I'VE TURNED MY BACK ON ALL I WAS BEFORE ALL AND CLOSED THE DOOR AND I WOULDN'T GO BACK, I WOULDN'T GO BACK FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL I KNOW I COULDN'T GO BACK I'LL NEVER GO BACK, EVER GO BACK NOT TO WHERE I WAS BEFORE. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 21. Yeah, I've had them before, too... Just wondering if there's a tie-in... Usually, I just go jump, and I don't have them for a while. Also, there's never any wind noise... That's an interesting thing I just noticed. Also, no idea what the red reserve meant... More vivid than other sd dreams of late... Hmmm.... Thanks all for the insights! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  22. Background: Yesterday, a rather large client, who is merging with another company, told me that the new CEO is probably going to choose to go with the other company's agency, despite my being better at what I do. It's out of their hands, but the other agency will probably fuck up and I'll be rehired within 60 days. Lovely. Especially since they're a rather large paying client. so, with that said, I woke up at 3am to catch a flight, and while driving to PHX, remembered this dream I had sometime between 9pm and 3am... this one was totally me - I wanted to see something close to the ground, so deliberately didn't pull until really low. When I went to pull, I remembered that my canopy has an 800-1000 foot snivel, so I decided to pull my reserve, instead. I had my hand on my hackey, but shoved it back in and went for my reserve handle. Of course, it took forever for me to pull it, and it didn't want to pull, and I pulled my cutaway handle for no reason first, and then my reserve handle took forever to come loose, and when I finally did, it opened really slowly (and was Fire Engine Red, as opposed to solid white.) It was like 85% open when I hit the ground, I hit the ground fine, stood it up, and walked back to get it packed to jump again. Weird. Think it has to do with the crappy client news? Or was it just a dream for the sake of being a dream? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  23. Yes, but being the mileage whore I am, even if it's not my money, I want the points. :D _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  24. Yes, I was hoping for 98% recommendation, 2% attitude, as opposed to flyertalk's inverse. And I stay at the Sheraton Park Lane all the time... But this time, it's not my money - I'm putting together dad's 65th birthday party weekend, and mom told me "go to town" on the hotel. So price caps and client caps are out the window. Hence the Hilton Park Lane. They have an executive suite to die for, I've heard. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  25. All: Anyone know anything about the Hilton Park Lane, or any other good hotel in London? Prerably either a HHonors or Starwood Brand? Thanks! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
