What Can We Do About Skyride II

Running their dropzones... right where they've been all along. Dave But you mean ONLY the couple of DZ's that sLyride actually does have something to do with, right? Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org -

I personally think they will either straight out thumb their noses at or at least try to thumb their noses at this latest strike against them. They've already proven that they don't mind thumbing their noses at everyone else so far. Besides that, where is all the sLyride supporters anyway? Refuse to Lose!!! What Can We Do About Skyride II

I would like to follow up my last reply with a few thoughts. Even though the Court Order specifies in the beginning the different names that sLyride operates under, they (a) didn't get all their names like "luxergy", "Spagoda", and "Spaatlas", (b) It only states the various names like Igovincent, USSO, Thrill Planet, Taparu, CASC and Tandora in the beginning of the Order. (c) Throughout the body of the order, I did not see anywhere that it adds those other names when it addresses Them as "Skyride Defendants" and "Atlanta SC defendants" (d) I did not see anywhere in the order where it listed any venue other than Skydiving". In Category "A", They have so many names that is not listed in the order, what is to keep them from operating in one or more of those names? In Category "B" Being that it only states all the listed names in the beginning of the order, what is to stop them from acting as if the body of the order does not effect those names not listed in the body of the order? In Category "C", This appears to me that by not repetitively listing "Thrill Planet" along with "Skyride" and "Atlanta SC", this COULD leave a large hole in the order for Thrill Planet to keep going is if there's no order that effects that part of the company. In Catrgory "D", is kinda self explanitory, If it only lists Skydiving, That leaves a huge hole for all the other venues they sell their fake gift certs for to go on uneffected. The Race Car guys, Warbird and Balloon guys didn't appear to get covered. In all, It appears to me from what I have seen in the past with their blatent disregard for the legal system, complete disrespect of their customers and their own greed, they will shift everything into one of the company names that the court order did not list. I am definitely NOT a lawyer, but I can read, and I do give the Georgia AG full credit for a job well done, but it is possible that they may not have known the full range of venues that sLyride is in to. I mean, Damn, who ever heard of Scuba Diving for Great White Sharks in Clarksville, Tennessee? Hence, the door may be left wide open. When the AG makes public, the list of websites that sLyride reports to them, we will know how in depth the order went. Ok, Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now! Refuse to Lose!!! I might add that by compining the other venues that sLyride sells tickets for, the number 900 will be profoundly low. There's at least 900 if not more for skydiving alone. Multiply by the number of venues like Hang Gliding, Gliders, Balloons, Race Cars, Warbirds, Scuba, Shark Diving, Cruise ships, etc. Then redo the math. I still have not figured out how anyone can Scuba Dive for GREAT WHITE SHARKS in Clarksville, Tn. Check this out, http://www.luxergy.com/Clarksville_Tennessee/Clarksville_shark_expedition.htm They can't say they are cleaning up their act because the Luxergy sites were down and came back up just a few days ago. Just so everyone knows as if this is anything new, but to nobody's surprise sLyride's alias Adventure is on the Tennessee Dept. of Consumer Affairs Watch List. Here's the link, they are number 16; http://www.state.tn.us/consumer/common/flash/BuyerBewareList%5B1%5D.swf Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org -
Because the canopies available/preferred now are not well suited to stand-up landings unless there is a certain amount of wind. So why why do you suppose we now see so many solo students landing on their butts instead of doing the proper PLF when a stand-up landing is not possible? They were "trained" to do that on their tandem jump. I only have just under 500 jumps, and I can rightfully say that I have had 1 butt landing and that one was a situation that I landed on a wet spot in the landing area at Cullman. Feet just slid out from under me. Almost all of my landings have been standup or at most took a knee. I jump a 300, so landings is no issue for me, not even when I was a Tandem student. I do see where either type of landing would be preferred at the TI's preference, so on this subject, I think that being that everyone knows I don't have the rating yet, I have only stated my opinion and I guess I will not fully understand the facts of either landing until I get the rating. You just said what I wanted to say, I guess I just tried to sugar coat it too damn much! Preach on Brother! I think I want to re name you form Tuna-Salad to SPARKY! Why, because you have balls of steel that drag the ground! Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org

I agree, My TI always stood them up. We ALWAYS had on target, very soft landings. He always selected a canopy that was large enough to carry the load and compensated for the wind and weather conditions. I've heard of a lot of TI's using the "One size fits all" approach instead of having multiple canopies. Yeah, it does cost more to have multiple canopies, but that's what it takes to do it right. And you don't have to have a TI rating to know that. I have talked to a couple of TI's since I was this thread start, and they both said that the idea of butt landing is nothing more that lazy TI's that don't want to carry the load and/or wear out their back. The knees and legs will absorb the shock of landing if the proper canopy is used for the load. The same holds true for a solo rig. If a jumper is knocked out, and is using lets say a 90sq. ft. canopy or smaller, what are his chances of survival without be able to hook turn before landing as compared to the same guy jumping a 250 or 300? The same for Tandem. I'm sticking with the big rigs! Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org
-
From what I've always seen, if the TI selects a canopy large enough to give a soft landing, there's no need to use the forward motion and lift from the speed to slide in. I've seen TI's do hook turns and/or low turns to gain the speed, and often thought that it would only take to slip and the tandem burns in. Besides that, their butts and rigs were stained and worn. Looks like a high cost on equipment to me from all the sliding and dragging on the ground. I'm not tandem rated, but I don't think I would want to pay for their cleaning and repair bill. I'm not asking that question to challenge anyone for doing that, it's just that of the landings I've seen, they appear to be harder landings than standing them up, so with my knowledge of physics, and my limited knowledge of the human anatomy and after showing a video to my chiropractor who's response was "Ouch, that had to hurt", It's just a question I felt needed to be brought up. And you're right, I don't have the tandem rating yet, Plan to, but way back when I was a tandem student, My instructor found it unacceptable to butt land. Who's right? I'm not a TI myself, but I can see your point. Just don't see any reason to not stand it up. Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org

Today, Tennessee State law says No to Skyride!
Jumpdude replied to Jumpdude's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I heard the same thing, but The Attorneys didn't tell me that, so I'm not sure. It definitely sounds possible, even probable. They rip off their customers, the people who made them rich, why would they not rip off someone who has their hands out for some of sLyride's money? Refuse to Lose!!! Talking about TOTAL disregard for the law. sLyride is now running radio commercials in Nashville advertising for their Nashvilleskydiving.com website. They have yet to add their physical address to their websites and the "Local" number still gets forwarded to Cedartown. Still illegal! Who would have thought sLyride would defy the law like that???? I guess the sLyride thieves are bolder that I thought. Now they are running radio commercials in Nashville making wild claims to be having an "Event" this weekend. I guess they are not getting much business because people know abouth their scam, so they are paying Hooters Girls to make an appearance. It's pretty bad when a DZ has to go to such extremes to get customers. sLyride must be circling the toilet bowl and getting closer to the bottom. Refuse to Lose!!! honesty not allways the best policy

OK, They are turning their 1 800 sLyride sites off again. Let's all hope they stay off this time. The websites with their own domain that are not aliased off of the 1 800 sLyride domain are still on. Let's go after those too!!! Those are the real deceptive ones... Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org -

My gut feeling is that they will just keep going business as usual. When the shit hits the fan, make sure it hits them like an H-bomb of shit. Just to let everyone know, even though sLyide's sites appear to be disappearing, they are still doing business as usual. They told me they don't care about "Any damn law and they don't care who likes it or don't like it. Just get over it" H-Bomb of shit, on the way! Refuse to Lose!!! Not to split hairs, but 'nashvilleskydiving.com' shows up as the first result (see attached). And it has a nice big map along with it, that shows me that they're right there in the MIDDLE of the city! I don't have to drive out to Russellville! AND their site is much more pretty than Nashvilleskydiving.org, which I think is a good thing - after all, in a sport like skydiving, if someone can't afford good web design, how can they afford good gear? I want to feel safe when I make my first tandem jump...no 'Fandango' for me! (Again, don't mean to shut you down - I think it's excellent that a non-skyride site is so far up the list. But nonetheless, to a whuffo who's uneducated about the sport, I think it's arguable that the thoughts above would run through their head. Skyride's site shows up first in organic results, along with the (albeit deceptive) map...and while you're using low-res images to prevent someone from swiping them, Skyride is using high-res images and reaping the marketing benefits of having high(er)-production-value sites.) Let's face it - for all their customer service faults (*understatement of the year), Skyride has done a GREAT job of marketing. From SEO to design to selling the idea of making that once-in-a-lifetime experience. Their success should be a wakeup call to DZ's that we all need to shape up our games, if we want to compete (in addition, of course, to doing whatever we can to stop the illegal Skyride practices). edited b/c i forgot to add the iimage...durr. I will agree with you on that, and I do give sLyride credit for doing their homework and having really nice sites and kick ass marketing, The concept that they started out as was a really good idea and could have been good for the sport, but when they got greedy, well you see the perdicament we're in now... Bwahhhhhhhhhh!! Good grief! You guys know that they have not yet complied with the new Tennessee Law. I called their "Local" phone number a couple of times acting as a customer, them told them they were in violation of the law, they told to "live with it and get used to it because that law means nothing to them." That's their mind-set. (as if we all didn't know that) Where is the intelligence in that way of thinking? Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org -

ding ding ding. We have a winner. Nothing has happened that would make Ben & Cary stop what they are doing. Something must be going on for them to just up and drop the stuff that they have so far. Not saying your wrong, but I would not think they would do that by choice. I could be wrong. I don't see any sLyride supporters in here trying to set the record straight. Go figure. Refuse to Lose!!!
