For those that have done it I would like to know what type canopy you used and what your wing load was. I'm interested in ground launching and want to get into it for those days the DZ is closed. I understand from my searches that some canopies are better suited than others i.e. square vs. semi-elliptical vs. full-elliptical and that a higher wing load is an important factor 1.2 and higher. The canopy I currently have is a Hornet 170 loaded at 1.2 but am looking to down size in the near future to a Safire2 139 loaded at just under 1.5. I have weight but that will only bring my current canopy up from 1.2 to 1.3 wing load. What about wind? Is there an ideal wind speed and one that is to high. CSA #699 Muff #3804

I'm back from Iraq and now stuck in a Med. hold company (654th) getting my broke self fixed. So don't tell anyone I'm planning on jumping this weekend. My unit is te 737th Trans. Regardless of the weather unless it is a down pour I will be at the DZ. Snohomish is a 70 mile drive from Ft. Lewis so I'm hoping the weather will be jumpable Sunday when I'm there. CSA #699 Muff #3804

Take another look at the photo. Look at the spider in size of the soldiers shirt cuff. The spiders are a close up photo to make them look bigger. The ones in the photo are only about 4 inches in length. A large Camel Spider will only get about 6 inches in diameter from leg tip to leg tip. I can say they do run pretty damb quick and can be aggressive if provoked. CSA #699 Muff #3804

I have read all sorts of post on this site regarding the types of people who jump, anywhere from color of skin to disabilities to age. I do not recall anything on little people in this sport. DO WE HAVE ANY LITTLE SKYDIVERS OUT THERE? I can picture one now dressed in a bird man suit and some drunk skydiver flying him/her as a kite around the bone fire. CSA #699 Muff #3804

I took mine on the plane as well only when I looked at it they were loading my bag into the belly of the plain. At some point they had busted the zippers of my bag and laying on top was my altimeter. The flight attendant didn't believe me and asked if I was joking when I told her my bag was busted open and my things were hanging out. CSA #699 Muff #3804
