Gun owners who can't buy high capacity ammo clips because of new laws have another option: Print them. Gun control measures passed or proposed in the wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre have targeted clips that can feed 30 rounds or more into the firing chambers of AR-15s and other semi-automatic guns. New York has banned clips holding more than seven rounds, and a federal bill proposed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., would ban clips holding more than 10 rounds. But the laws are at least one step behind technology. Using 3D printers and schematics available on the Internet, gun owners can manufacture a fully functional, plastic magazine clip. Plans are free, although getting access to a 3D printer may prove expensive, at least for now. “If you can download it, you can have it,” said University of Texas law student Cody Wilson, who is part of Defense Distributed, a group that has created the design for what they refer to as a “Cuomo Clip” along with other gun parts. It is all under an initiative they refer to as the Wiki Weapon Project. “It’s basically to head them [legislators] off at the pass, which we have,” Wilson added, noting that “hundreds of thousands” of visitors have gone to his group's site to download the CAD file for the ammo clip since it was first posted in mid-January. The “Cuomo Clip,” named for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who pushed the high-capacity clip ban through the Legislature, is made from a plastic filament similar to the type of material used to manufacture LEGO building blocks. It is also loaded with a large spring that helps to push rounds of ammo into the gun chamber. The ammo clip appears to be durable; Defense Distributed test-fired 86 rounds from a 30-round prototype last month, and the clip showed no signs of damage. The cutting edge technology, in which three-dimensional objects can be manufactured from melted plastic thread, is likely to complicate efforts to control firearms. No such ability existed in 1994, when large-capacity clips were first banned in an initial federal assault weapons ban that lasted a decade. Although the new ban proposed by Feinstein would prohibit the manufacture of clips, it focuses on traditional arms makers and sellers. How the law might be enforced against individuals making their own clips -- and possibly even guns in the future -- is unclear. Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., has called for amending the Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988, which initially sought to ban guns that could be sneaked through metal detectors, to include a ban on “homemade, 3-D printed, plastic high-capacity magazines." “Congress passed a law banning plastic guns for two decades when they were just a movie fantasy," Israel told FoxNews.com. "With the advent of 3-D printers, these guns are suddenly a real possibility, and the law Congress passed is set to expire this year. “We should act now to give law enforcement authorities the power to stop the development of these weapons before terrorists and criminals can easily bring them on planes. We need to be proactive and keep ahead of the technology. When the legislation was originally passed in 1988, no one would have imagined that parts of a gun and a magazine could be made with a printer — imagine what the technology will be even five years down the road.” Defense Distributed and the Wiki Weapons Project also has made schematics of other parts of the AR-15 and other weapons and modifications, including pistol grips, but has avoided attempting to design and distribute plans for a fully-functional gun. http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2013/02/13/print-draw-fire-3d-printing-could-muzzle-new-gun-laws/

FOX News: Traditional gender roles critical to happiness
regulator replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm not necessarily talking about their particular vocations they choose. I'm just talking about my few weeks in the phillipines. I just know that men are around meah --------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- and the women are around meah -
FOX News: Traditional gender roles critical to happiness
regulator replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
Actually, I consider that a pretty good point. I've been in cultures where the women had no desire to embrace the US idea of 'equal'. The women recognized that there is significant power in being a woman if you know how to use it. And they knew how to use it. Obviously, there are downsides to being a woman. But keep in mind that there are downsides to being a man as well. -------------------------------------------------------- My brother lives in the phillipines. Needless to say that over there (ive visited twice) and there is NO equality between men and women. Women...and I mean this literally are meant for two purposes over there...cooking and screwing. This is probably the main reason why my brother went over there. They all wait standing up to allow the men to sit down first. He hired a girl from the mountains to help out around the house. Now over there you dont go to the grocery store every few weeks and load up...you go every day. To get enough food for that meal. You get fresh meat and vegetables every day. Obviously the main goal over there is to find food to eat that day. To say the culture difference is night and day is being modest. So back to the girl...she would get thrown off because the month my brother is there they eat meat...every day...which is like a once or twice a month thing for them. So initially she would be guilty and not eat. Then she flipped the switch and would gorge herself. She was unable to find a comfortable medium and eventually they had to fire her due to her mental problems. So if ANYONE from the USA is concerned about womens rights. Go to the phillipines. Learn a few different cultures. Maybe when you get back youll learn the USA isnt so bad after all in that regard. -
Someone is Shoddy logic (as I expect from you) combined with a self-serving strawman. Reserves don't prevent every skydiving death completely, yet I'm sure you jump with one. Seat belts don't prevent every senseless traffic fatality completely, but I'm sure you wear one. And dozens of other examples where just because we can't "prevent every [fill in the blank] completely" doesn't mean that we can't make an improvement. You use very poor logic in attempting to compare gun laws to reserves and seat belts. There is no direct correlation between gun laws and lowering crime. Another self-serving claim from someone who's afraid his access to his toys is threatened The 2nd amendment is about protecting the citizens from a tyrannical government. Just like your government did to its citizens.

Kallend both you and billvon seem to have waged your best on this thread and have failed miserably. Use that bright mind of yours and illustrate to me how a person with a semi auto so called 'assault rifle'...and lets be clear a SHOULDER FIRED RIFLE. Shit I'll give you a Barret M107 to use as an example if you want. Show with with graphs and fancy physics how you can not only hit, but take down a commercial airliner AT cruising altitude. If you go chickenshit and bring up a Ma Deuce again you have already failed. All I get from John are snide comments and if I could go inverse on the value added to these conversations I would. This is your opportunity to illustrate to us how smart you are. I'll be waiting right here homey. Additional: I've read some posts from john commenting on economics and things like the SEC. He had good insightful commentary. But when it comes to his most adverse enemy: Guns...he flips the switch and goes straight into troll mode. Give me your best because what ive been seeing so far doesnt even come close.

August 1940, Dornier 17 warplane shot down with standard infanty issue Lee Enfield .303 rifle. Jets have been brought down by birds too. Let's ban parrots (and others) as pets. Non sequitur, as well as an idiotic comment. He's just trying to keep up with the king of misdirection and idiotic comments. Honestly he's got a long ways to go before he gets up on par with you.

Lots of missing details What altitude? Coming in for a landing? how about a link

I still claim bloomberg IS an idiot. And if the only argument you can create is that of a ma deuce then you have already failed. Show me where you can mount optics on a ma deuce and then show me how you can hit a flying plane at altitude with a semi auto version that isnt as class 3 weapon. Ill answer it for you: You cant.
-
---------------------------------------------------- Pretty sure he was shooting an M-60. I dont think arnold could one hand a ma deuce.
-
Besides I think just because they were used as anti aircraft guns during WW2 and other conflicts doesnt mean that can shoot down a commercial airliner @ a mile and a half out. This during its heyday was the epitome of spray and pray. Its cyclic rate was 750-800 rounds per minute of .50 coming your way. Like I said even though the round can shoot on a good day @ 1.2 miles out...and a max range of 4 miles doesnt mean this weapon can do that. There is no way to mount optics on the top and even if you did...theres no way in hell you can look down a scope while it was going off.
-
Ill tell you right now I wouldnt even waste my time with a Ma Deuce unless it was the real deal. Thats like buying a brand new corvette stingray and having it set on 1/3rd power...for when your 16 year old kid drives to the prom. Its heavy, cumbersome, heavy, the ammunition is heavy...did I mention it was heavy?
-
Precisely. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.50_BMG If you look at the picture in the link provided you would see the round on the far left .50 BMG and at the far right you will see two rounds. The 22 LR and the 5.56 ( or .223 equivalent) The 30 caliber round would fit between those two.

and if that doesnt work I guess you can always spray it on your junk and use it as a condom.

Lets do this instead. I just googled the words [how many people murdered with browning m2] http://www.google.com/#hl=en&tbo=d&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=how+many+people+murdered+with+browning+m2&oq=how+many+people+murdered+with+browning+m2&gs_l=hp.3...467.7700.0.8058.41.23.0.13.13.1.312.4785.0j12j8j3.23.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.2.hp.VK3vW9ZeixY&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.42080656,d.b2I&fp=72bf9325becb8e42&biw=1229&bih=814 The grand total 0 I guess google isnt my friend after all

How much has your 401K earned you over 30 years?
regulator replied to OHCHUTE's topic in Speakers Corner
If I put a penny in a slot machine I'll get back $1,000,000! That is, if the math is correct. --------------------------------------------- You must have good luck. The next time you go to vegas let me know. (Btw, the math probably isn't correct.) -
The Browning M2 was designed as (in part) an antiaircraft weapon. It has an effective range of 1.2 miles and a maximum range of 4 miles. And this would also be a class 3 weapon. http://www.westernfirearms.com/wfc?set=02 Just because it can send a projectile that far doesnt mean someone can hit anything with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2_Browning Check out the link from wiki in regards to an M2. Show me on there where you can mount optics.

My post was created only to illustrate that if my bet with you was lost then I will be the first to create a post and apologize...like a man. Not say "use the search function" or "use google' and then use misdirection to asses blame on someone else.
