My neice quit Texas State University without completing a single semester. At least your neice and nephew advanced themselves by completing school. But my nephew isnt like that. He graduated with a bachelors degree and he is currently in Japan in the navy. But he was never coddled like kaitlin was. Go figure.

I grew up in a rural area. We were woken at 5 am every day by the sound of a rooster spewing out rooster-nonsense at the asscrack of dawn. As kids we each had our role and we did our part. Now if you asked my neice to do a tiny fraction of what we did back then she'd throw a hissy fit and storm off. A majority of kids these days feel things in life are OWED to them..rather than actually having to earn those same things for themselves.

I also can't help but think that since our forefathers were so damn lazy they had to get slaves to do their work for them...that might factor into the equation as well.

My neice just turned 22. She has never had a job in her life and she married a man in the army...probably to get pregnant and so she could use that as a reason NOT to work. This is my neice. If that was my parents I would have received a hand to the face more than once...and did. I'm not trying to knock what you said but I wonder if the statistics you revealed were for ALL people...or for people of working age...as in people who are still able to do work...or if those numbers were for all citizens including the elderly, children, the disabled...etc. Just wondering.

I was watching Band of Brothers this past weekend. In the beginning there was a gentleman that had served in the war and he was explaining that there were a few men who couldnt serve their country...and several of them killed themselves...because they COULDNT serve. Now we've got people expecting entitlements that have probably never worked a day in their lives. I know right now its the worst this country has ever been in that regard, but its morphed into this over the past few generations. What has caused this country to be fractured into factions of people who simply dont give a shit about anyone but themselves? I am sure there were people like this during the 50's and 60's..but were probably a handful. Now it seems like everyone wants to knock down the successful (rich) people, and accept apathy as their career. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Well, law abiding "responsible" gun owners need to do a better job of safeguarding their guns, don't they? Well over 300,000 guns stolen every year from "responsible" law abiding gun owners. That was a pretty goofy answer to the question. He basically said, "If you live in the woods and you hear a noise outside you think might be an intruder, firing a shotgun off into the air will probably scare whatever/whomever it is away, therefore no one needs an AR-15." I would liken it to saying, "Why would anyone need an AR-15? We live in a gated community." He's already illustrated to people that the gun control bills he's trying to pass will not reduce mass shootings but he will try and do it anyways.
