No, unfortunately. This is for the Ballunar Liftoff Festival at NASA. They're doing skydiving demos for it this weekend. The CASA leaves Ellington, flies over JSC and they're launching 30-ways. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

I'm not sure if Scotty is gonna be in on this or not. I know his girlfriend Tammi is. But even if he is, it prolly wouldn't qualify as a true "Scotty Way" since he isn't organizing. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Kewl. Makes life a lot easier.

WHEW! Glad you decided to stay. Still working on the wife to let me go to Richmond. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Go To www.mirc.com. Download and install mIRC. You now have the chat client software. When you install the software, it should walk you through the basic setup. Start the software. Select File:Options.... Make sure that "Connect" is selected on the left-hand side of the dialog. Pick "EFNet" by IRC Servers: You now will have a list of EFNet servers immediately below. Pick any one of them and click "Connect to IRC Server". Many will not let you in (because they're busy or other reasons). I used EFNet: US, CA, San Luis Obispo. But any EFNet server that you can get into will do. When you are connected, at the bottom of the status window (it should be the only one showing) will be a text box. Type "/join #skydiving" (no quotes) and hit enter. You should be in. Hope this helps. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Ask the person sitting next to you "It's 4 ExLax once a day, right?" ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Dude, stay on. Never be afraid to ask for advice. If you get something that you don't think is responsive, pay it no mind. There are plenty others here who will give you good answers to your questions. I know I've learned a ton here. I really wish HH was around because it seems a lot of folks are getting driven away lately. I'm sure he wouldn't like to have this place that he worked so hard to set up wither on the vine. Maybe I haven't gotten upset by all this because I try to stay away from the flame threads (as I learned to do on wreck). ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

I don't know about the rest of y'all, I'm going through chat withdrawals. So I set up a channel #skydiving on EFNet (irc.prison.net let me right in). So if you have an IRC client, come on in to #skydiving. I'll be waiting!

Nope. But you do have to learn how to fly. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

4-way is fun because it's all about speed and precision. I'm no big-big-way expert either. My biggest is like 15. But I've done a fair number of 10-12 ways. I also freefly (poorly), so maybe I can offer some perspective here. Big-way is kind of a big 'ol party in the sky. And when things click, and you have 10+ people turning points, it's almost like you're part of something bigger than yourself. A cell in an organism, if you will. Freefly is more about cutting loose. Just do whatever moves you at the moment. So maybe it's a little more expressive, like dance. I wouldn't say any, but yeah those are really dangerous. Mainly because the sky is so crowded canopy collisions are pretty much inevitable (ask Dead Mike). Still, if someone asked me to participate, I'd prolly say yes (but not at my current experience level, obviously). Sure it's dangerous, but how often are do you have the chance to participate in something like that? ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

We need to add to this list. I'll have to think a bit, but everyone else, have at it! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Not me. I just flew through it. They guy that was holding it, flipped through it himself after everyone else had gone through & joined the 9-way. Pretty amazing. Here's a pic of a hoop dive in case you're curious. Hoop dives are a blast! I was going to do a head down then I heard someone say "Hoop Dive!" and my plans changed. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Yeah the heat's turned up here lately. But this is still nothing compared to wreck. Don't leave sis! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

heya Slappie since you crossposted to my thread I'll return the favor... Congrats and keep up the good work!

Houston's about the same. That would make some sense. The winds were a little shifty that day and I was close to the hangar. The crosswind adjustment theory also makes some sense. It's pobably one of those "all of the above" situations. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

I personally don't care one way or another. If you wanna do it, that's fine by me. I'd be the world's biggest hypocrite if I got bent out of shape over that kind of thing given that I smoked the stuff by the bail into my mid-20s. I don't party all that much anymore. I'll toss back a couple brews every now & then but that's about it. If I did doobage now: a. My wife would cut off my head and put it on a stake out in the front yard as a warning to others; and b. With my luck they'd have a drug test at work the next day. *Shrug* ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

I like my Alti 3 as well. I've dropped it on concrete God knows how many times and it still works fine. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

At least they remembered chocolate... Just WTF is Hexachlorophene? Snail bait? Just what's wrong with a little beer for the fella? And my personal favorite in the list: laxatives. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

I've got close to 100 jumps on a Sabre 150 now so I'm getting pretty familiar with it's flying characteristics. But yesterday my canopy did something that I hadn't seen before (except in a downwinder)... I had practically no "bite" when I went to flare. I just kept pulling it farther and farther and it just kept sinking & sinking. My normal flare is generally a little surf-ish. I hit it pretty close to the ground to level it off and then bleed off the forward speed. This time I never got that level-off. Wound up doing a Fred Flintstone stop with my heels. I'm still perplexed as to why I didn't get any grab. It was a little windier. I was playing with generating some forward speed with my front risers and I was slightly crosswind, but nothing too substantial. I was thinking crosswind was the culprit, but I've landed it in no-wind without probs. I wouldn't think a crosswinder would take anything more from you flare-wise than no-wind, but maybe I'm wrong on that. Thoughts? ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

I remember talking to you about your level 2 and how well that went. If Chris is giving you kudos then that means something because he won't hesitate to tell you if something went wrong. He's a great and very meticulous instructor. Good job! As far as the hoop dive goes, yeah it went great. That was just a really good day for me. Three 8 or bigger ways that all went pretty much without a hitch. Even if you don't mess up, you get to 8-way or bigger turning points and the chances that someone will brainlock are pretty substantial. So everyone was happy with how well they went. I know you wanna freefly, but after you get off student status we'll hook you up with Scotty to get you your SCR. You have to experience big way at least once.

Heh. Better living through chemistry. I'm right here (or at the DZ). Same as always. Been doing the Yin/Yang thing with RW & freefly. Fair amount of RW lately. I'm pretty stable in a sit now so I've been trying head down. Ramon gave me a tip that I tried on the last jump yesterday that seemed to help. Been playing with Matt, one of the newer (but pretty good) freefliers as well. Now get better and do what your doctor tells you! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
