  1. Heya fred, here's a couple pics... Pic1 Pic2 ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  2. Congrats! No you can do what you want to do! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  3. I think a lot of it has to do with the type of gear you train with. You tend to stick with what's familiar. Our DZ's student gear is, surprise, surprise, Javelins with PD Sabres. I'm one of the few Vector owners. Went off the recommendation of a couple riggers. Very glad I did. Great riser/bridle/pin protection. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  4. Ours seems to have a predominance of Javelins. Followed by Racers & Vectors. Lot of PD and Icarus canopies. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    Merrick Update?

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Merrick: "Honey! I need another sponge bath." Pammi: "But that's your 6th today!" ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  6. Yeah I'm running windoze right now. My Apache server is on my Linux partition and it confuses my wife. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    Merrick Update?

Hey Merrick, when they said "break a leg" they didn't mean it literally! Seriously, get better soon & Pammi I hope you're dealing OK. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  8. Two words.... military surplus. I wanted to get something a little more effective than sweats and really didn't care to spend $150 on a pair of freefly pants. So a little light bulb comes on... *ping!*.... BDU pants! They're durable, you can get 'em baggy, they even have ties at the ankles. All for $30. So as I'm heading to the dressing room to try on a pair, I look over and, 'lo & behold, flightsuits! So I go over, grab a black pair and try 'em on. Fits great, light but sturdy fabric, pockets galore, for $40. I bought a small, and it fits nice, but I may make that my "fast" suit and get a medium for a "slow" suit. So lessee... two jumpsuits and a pair of freefly pants all for $110. Not too shabby! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

My rig is off-limits, right? No pie with the rig on? Anyone? Hello? Hope we can do more 4 way. I always have fun (and learn a lot) with you guys. BTW. I just got a freefly jumpsuit (more on that in a different thread). All black. I look like Darth Vader with the black helmet, jumpsuit & rig. Hehehehe. Plus it's a nice contrast to my white RW suit. So now I truly have sort of a Yin/Yang, Good Side/Dark Side thing going. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

  11. I like blue-yellow-white. For some reason the red-black-gray speaks to me as well. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  12. From the sound of things I almost get the sense that the powers that be designed it this way. If they can't boot 'em out of Quincy officially, just make 'em not want to come back. If they don't want our money, fine, we'll take it elsewhere. How 'bout Eloy?
  13. How on earth (or off I suppose) could he make it all the way to jump time without at least one person noticing that he didn't have a rig on? And many other folks on the plane look over other people's rigs for misrouted straps, exposed risers/bridles, etc. I did hear about a skydiver a few years ago who commonly rode to altitude with her chest strap undone and then strapped up right before leaving. Welp, one day she forgot. At pull time she wound up hanging by her legstraps and eventually slipped out. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

heh. He still can 'cuz it hasn't happened yet. I'll be spending the next several weeks at the DZ looking over my shoulder. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  15. When I first started out I had mine mounted inside a ProTec and had problems hearing it, so I taped up all the holes with duct tape and it helped immensely. Now it's mounted on a Z1 and I have no problems hearing it. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  16. I sometime get comments about how long my stows are. Usually 3-4 inches. My openings are noticably tamer at that length than when I have 'em around 2-3. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it. Got 3 great jumps in on Sunday to make up for it. Two 2-way sits that went fantastic and a 4-way where I did a good job flying my slot. So I was pretty happy. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  18. I'll offer one that I kinda wish I had when i was starting out... don't let yourself get frustrated. You'll get frustrated in training and you'll get frustrated when you start trying your hand at RW/freefly (or in my case, both -- I'm a glutton for punishment). This is a very difficult sport. If it were easy, we wouldn't see all those 1000+ jumpers out there. So don't set your expectations too high too early. That said, jump you butt off and have fun doing it! ------------ Blue Skies! 19. That's one hell of a track he's got there. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    First freefall!

Congrats Fred! Freefall is a blast. Sounds like you're doing just fine. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  22. I don't have all the details but basically there was an incident where a guy was with his family staying in tent city. Apparently he got upset at some people who were partying late and started yelling. Security showed up and the newpapers said the next day that there had been a riot (which there hadn't). Just a general bad vibe thing. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

So I get to the DZ with 93. Bust out a buncha RW & freefly jumps and ask some friends if they would help me get my SCS for my 100th. So we organize a 10-way where I'd come in last, do 2 wedges and back to the star for a double-eagle. Great, sounds like a plan. Good exit. I get in my slot and wait my turn. Then head in..... really fast. Took out the whole frickin 10-way. So we scramble back & actually re-establish the 10-way. Only I was in at #3 on the second try. So no SCS for me. Nothing like taking out your own celebration jump! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  24. I think he meant will you be making money off the photos (directly or indirectly)? If so it's only fair that the people who took them get a piece of the pie as well. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  25. 5/7/5 and the last phrase should sort of sum up the moment. Yours is a heckuva lot better than mine. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
